What Are You Reading Wednesday #09

How to participate:
Grab the book you are currently reading and answer three questions:
1. What’s the name of your current read?
2. Go to page 34 in your book (or 34% in your eBook) and share a couple of sentences.
3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

1.  I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios

2.  As I sat there trying to hold my mother together, I realized the thing I'd been fearing for most of my life was finally happening; that I'd be so close to getting out, then just at the last moment, something would happen that would keep me in Creek View indefinitely. I always thought it would be a freaking thing, like a natural disaster or getting a brain tumor. Not this.

3.  Would I want to live in this world? No, not if it meant living in the small town of Creek View. Demetrios does an excellent job of portraying the desolate feel of this dying little town - a place with no opportunities, a place you escape. (On the plus side, I'm loving the story!)

1.  All Played Out (Rusk University #3) by Cora Carmack

2.  "I told you to stay away from me."

He hums and frowns and says, "No. No, I distinctly recall you saying you were supposed to stay away from me."

"Same thing."

"Oh, gorgeous. If what you're supposed to do and what you actually do are always the same thing, I think I need to stage an intervention."

3.  Would I want to live in this world? Yes! I love all the characters from the Rusk University world and would love to hang out with these people. Drew and Dallas, Silas and Dylan, Stella, Ryan, Torres and Brookes... this is a great group of people and it's great to get to know them all as the series progresses.

1.  November 9 by Colleen Hoover

2.  Does she really think that? Do people really not flirt with her? Is this because of her scars or because of her insecurities about her scars? Surely guys aren't as shallow as she's implying. If so, I'm embarrassed on behalf of all men. Because this girl should be fighting off the guys who flirt with her, not questioning their motives.

3.  Absolutely. It's not so much about the world Colleen Hoover creates (she writes contemporaries so it's this world) but more about the remarkable characters she brings to life. So, Yes, I want to know these people. I'd love to have Fallon and Ben in my life. :)

1.  Five Ways to Fall (Ten Tiny Breaths #4) by K.A. Tucker

2.  "You know, if you hated the shirt that much, you could have just asked me to take it off. I was about to anyway." I don't know how he could possibly be making jokes about this. He's the one covered in vomit. Just the thought has me shuddering. "Look... some chick just puked on me and I really could use a shower. Can I come in?" The door handle jiggles and I thank baby Jesus for having given me the good sense to lock it. The last thing I want is to have him come in here and see my naked body hunched over his toilet. I need to get my clothes and get out of here without facing him. Ever again.

3.  I'm always up for living in the world K.A. Tucker creates. I don't necessarily want to go through the trauma in her character's lives, but I totally want to be friends with these resilient people.

1.  Changing Tides (Kill Devil Hills #2) by Sarah Darlington

2.  Georgie's eyes shifted between me and Ellie. We weren't sitting anywhere near each other, but she was looking at us like she knew. She knew more than the start of a platonic friendship had happened between us.

3.  Would I want to live in this world? Definitely. First, much of the book (and series) takes place in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a beautiful area. And secondly, I really love all the characters that have appeared in the first two books. I'd love to be friends with this group. :)

1.  Torn Hearts (Hearts #1.5) by Claire Contreras

2.  "What'd you tell him?" I asked as he opened my car door.

"I told him that if I catch him checking you out the next time we come here, I would rip his eyes out and stomp on them." He closed the door and left me gaping at him as he rounded the car to get into the driver's seat.

"You did not," I said as soon as his ass hit the seat.

He glanced at me. "Did you not see the look on his face?"

I nodded slowly. "Yeah, but he's bigger than you." Jensen was athletic, but he wasn't a gym rat. That guy looked like he could bench two football players.

"I'm bigger where it counts," he said with a shrug.

3.  Absolutely! I loved the characters I met in Kaleidoscope Hearts (the first book) and now getting to know more about Mia and Jensen's background is wonderful. These are people I would love to know.

1.  A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

2.  "Even though Lucien revealed some of our closely guarded secrets," Tamlin said, throwing the last word at his companion with a growl, "we've never used your misinformation against you." His gaze met mine. "We never willingly lied to you."

3.  I'm going with a definitive NO to living in this world. Humans barely survived a war with the Faeries. And Feyre, now in the faerie realm, is finding it treacherous and downright dangerous.

1.  Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

2.  DO YOU LIKE EMMY, YES NO??? it said. Caro's handwriting was precise and exact, just like it is now, and the word YES was circled. It was the only thing I had left of Oliver after the kidnapping, the only thing that was truly mine, and I kept it that way for ten years.

3.  Obviously the kidnapping aspect is heart breaking, but these characters? I *adore* them. I would absolutely live in this world if it meant I could be friends with Emmy and Oliver. ♥

  1. Bad Romance by Jen McLaughlin - ARC version (book releases on September 15)
  2. She'd never know, but she'd kept me alive over there. Her silly letters about her favorite TV shows and her social outings... they kept me sane. Other guys, their minds became their worst enemies, filled to the brim with endless danger and death, but I had that piece of normal to hold on to, like a life preserver. It was her letters that kept me out of that dark hole.
  3. This is a contemporary based in the here and now so I already do live in this world. :) But would I want to be immersed in these characters lives? Probably not. They're quite angsty at the moment. LOL
