The Sunday Post #09

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

It's been a good week - particularly since I took a little time off Thursday and Friday and made a long weekend of it. It's amazing what just two extra days can do for you. I tend to be pretty bad about taking time off so this was a good reminder that I need it. I totally hoard my vacation time. Does anyone else do that? What am I hoarding all this time for - the zombie apocalypse? I have no idea what I'm saving all this vacation time for.

New commenting system
After weeks of issues with missing/disappearing Google+ comments, I finally ditched them and went with blogger default comments. I did some research and learned it's a fairly common problem with Google comments with no known fix. Nice, Google. I hated the thought of losing every single comment I've received in the switch-over (*sob!*), but now it's done and no more missing comments. #winning

Monday, March 14: Review of Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry (4.5/5 stars)

Tuesday, March 15: Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

Saturday, March 19: Hamilton Book Tag

Finished: Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry
Current: Breaking the Rules by Katie McGarry

Once I finished Nowhere But Here a week or so ago I jumped right into the ARC of the second book in the Thunder Road series, Walk the Edge. That just had me craving more Katie McGarry so I immediately picked up Breaking the Rules. Revisiting Echo and Noah (from Pushing the Limits) is wonderful but their struggles are breaking my heart and I'm shedding some serious tears with this one.

PHYSICAL COPIES:

My Bookworm Box arrived this past week and I'm super excited over both books! Eighteen by J.A. Huss and Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan. They both sound *so good*!

July Book Haul

Um yeah, so this happened. :) Between the Book Outlet sale/coupon (they totally twisted my arm!), my monthly Bookworm Box, a stop at a Walmart that actually had an impressive book section, a visit to Barnes & Noble, a pre-order... what's a girl to do?

Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras - I read this on my Kindle in June and really enjoyed it so I was pleasantly surprised when I received a physical copy in my Bookworm Box!

Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo - I have it in hardcover but Book Outlet had the paperback for a ridiculous price. Since I prefer reading in paperback I couldn't pass it up.

Hold On Tight by Abbi Glines - I adore the Rosemary Beach series and have been nabbing the Sea Breeze books as they are released in paperback. I'll be marathoning the whole series soon. Can't wait!

After the Rain by Renee Carlino - I've heard such great things about Renee Carlino's books. I'll be reading/reviewing Before We Were Strangers later this month and I'm looking forward to that one as well.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson - I finally caved. I have so many book friends that positively gush over the genius of Morgan Matson so it's time to experience it for myself.

The Way Home by Cindy Gerard - This one has actually been on my TBR for almost two years, ever since I read a review of it in RT Book Reviews. Book Outlet had a copy and I was so surprised to see it that I grabbed it.

Slow Burn by K. Bromberg - I'm not a fan of mass market paperbacks and I picked this one up on a whim. I believe this one is part of a companion series but does not need to be read in order.

Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley - Another mass market paperback that I picked up because I was in a book-buying mood and the Walmart I was at had a huge selection. It's the third in a series so I'll have to check if they need to be read in order.

Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout - My one pre-order this month. The final book in the Dark Elements trilogy! Gotta see how this one ends - will it be Roth or will it be Zayne? #TeamRoth

Then and Always by Dani Atkins - I reviewed an ARC of Dani's other book, The Story of Us, a couple months ago and loved it. I was excited to find this one available at Book Outlet.

A Stone in the Sea by A.L. Jackson - This was the second book that came in my July Bookworm Box. It sounds like a great new adult read... and it's blurbed by Mia Sheridan so I'm kinda sold right there.

Of Triton by Anna Banks - The second book in The Syrena Legacy trilogy. My BookTube friend Kassidy raves about this series.

Poison Princess and Endless Knight by Kresley Cole - The first two books in the Arcana Chronicles. Another recommendation from Kassidy. #KassidyMadeMeBuyIt

Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker - I'm one book shy of completing Tucker's Ten Tiny Breaths series and then it's on to the Burying Water series. Becoming Rain is the second in that series. She is an amazing storyteller!

Have you read any of these? What did you add to your shelves in July? Tell me about it below... comments make me happy!

The Bookworm Box: April & May

Colleen Hoover is my favorite author. She writes realistic characters and emotional stories like no one else. I haven't even read all her books yet because I want to savor them. Make them last. I own them all, but dole them out to myself sparingly, like priceless little nuggets. Which they are. If you go to the Review Archive you'll see more books by Colleen Hoover than any other author.

And it's not just Colleen's books that I love. Because as a person she is just as impressive. She is humble and kind and generous. Last year she hosted book giveaways every single day of the year. But Colleen's generous nature wanted to give on a larger scale and that's how The Bookworm Box came to be. Colleen started a monthly book subscription service where 100% of the profits after overhead costs are donated to a different charity each month. Colleen started this from her home and fulfilled orders herself along with the help of her sister, mom and others. The response was incredible and several thousand dollars was raised in the very first month (March 2015). Since then interest has only grown, more money has been raised for charities, and The Bookworm Box will soon have a retail space in Sulphur Springs, TX. I just ordered for the third month in a row and have loved every box. I love what Colleen is doing and will definitely continue to support her efforts.

So I thought I would share what comes in The Bookworm Box(es). In the first couple months there were two boxes offered each month - the featured box and an indie box. Starting in May this was streamlined and now there is just one box offered.

APRIL INDIE BOX

In April's indie box I received Deep Blue Eternity by Natasha Boyd. (Not everyone receives the same book(s).) I am so excited to read this one! There was also some fun book swag. Bookmarks, a pen, and a CD from Griffin Peterson. If you've read Maybe Someday by Colleen you'll know that Griffin is who she collaborated with to create all the songs featured in the book. (Fun fact: Griffin is also the cover model on Losing Hope.)

APRIL FEATURED BOX

When I opened April's featured box I think I actually gasped. I had one of those "this must be fate" moments. Because included in the box was none other than My Favorite Book of All Time. The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. To have this beautiful edition of the book - SIGNED - made me positively giddy. I mean, wow. Just. Wow. Also included was Jacked by Tina Reber. Tina is a new (to me) author and this book has fantastic ratings/reviews at GoodReads. What a fun way to discover a new author!

MAY BOOKWORM BOX

I just received my May box yesterday and was *so* excited to open it. I swear, yet again kismet was at work. A signed copy of Confess! Color me happy! I happen to be reading Confess right now so I now have two copies. At some point I'll do a giveaway for the extra copy. :) The second book was After by Anna Todd. Sooo, yeah, I had quite a love/hate relationship with the entire After series but still... pretty sweet to have a signed copy!

I'm already looking forward to June's box and it hasn't even shipped yet. If you're a book lover, The Bookworm Box is such a win-win situation. You get two books (signed by the authors) and book swag every month PLUS you're doing a good thing by supporting some deserving charities.
