THE WEEK IN REVIEW

I seem to managing a Sunday Post every three weeks these days. I pop in when I have time and feel like I have something to share. Otherwise... 🤷

It was a four day work week for me since I had planned to take Monday off. My husband had an appointment that I wanted to go to with him. All positive news so that made for a great day. There was a major storm on the way home from the appointment (it was about 30-40 minutes away) - thunder, lightning, torrential downpour. On the drive there the temperature was 99℉ (37℃), but once the storm hit the temperature dropped twenty degrees! It didn't last, of course. Once the storm passed the temp climbed right back up almost 100, but it was crazy to see it drop so quickly.

My younger sister had Covid two weeks ago and is still feeling pretty lousy. Yesterday morning I did a quick grocery run, came home and cooked two dinners for her (and her family), packaged it all up and dropped it at her front door. I'd been offering for over a week to bring dinner but she kept saying no. I finally decided to do it anyway and she called me later to say it was just what she needed. Sometimes people need a helping hand no matter how much they protest.

I was sad to see that Richard Simmons passed away yesterday. I always liked him. He was so upbeat and positive and genuinely wanted to help others. Such a sweet man.

This week's throwback song is Let's Groove (1981) by Earth, Wind & Fire. Makes me want to put on my roller skates again (except I haven't skated in 40+ years and would probably break or sprain my entire body LOL). Enjoy!

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

The brutal heat of the previous week (with temps hovering just below the 100℉/38℃ mark) lessened a bit this week so that was a welcome break. I mean, it's still hot (around 90°F/32℃ every day) but it's an improvement.

Because of the heat, we've been having easy, no-cook dinners most nights. Sandwiches and salads have reigned supreme - and will likely continue for the foreseeable future. Any awesome sandwich ideas before I get burned out on BLT's? 😏

For those that use NetGalley, has anyone taken advantage of their digital reading journal? I'd been wanting to dip my toe into digital book journaling for a while and their offering gave me the nudge I needed. I'm using the recommended Goodnotes app and while it's not at all intuitive (IMO), I've made a start. I'm curious to know if anyone else is using it...

The Blogger formatting issues that have been plaguing me the last several weeks have been resolved. Yay! Hopefully everyone else who were having the same issues can say the same.

We're reaching way back for this week's throwback song, but it's one of my favorites. This is Tiny Dancer (1971) by Elton John. Enjoy!

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

My Sunday Posts seem to be turning into an every three weeks kind of thing. I can live with that.

For those that use Blogger, have you noticed any formatting issues lately? It's been giving me fits the last week or so. Formatting text and links has become such a pain and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a change? My fingers are crossed that it's a temporary glitch.

Summer may not officially start for a couple more weeks, but Florida did not get the memo. It was over 90 F (32 C) every day this week, and today it's expected to reach 100 (37 C). I am not ready for this. 🔥

I am not a baker (mostly because I have no sweet tooth) and probably have not baked any kind of sweet treat in a decade. But I randomly felt the desire to whip something up last week and made these cherry pie bars. So. Much. Yum! The Husband took most of them to his office (he volunteers at the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society) and they were a huge hit. If you're looking for an easy treat, I can recommend these.

My sister, who has been a huge Prince fan since the 80's, texted me Friday to inform me that it was Prince Day. Who knew that was a thing? 🤷 So, Terri, here's a Prince song just for you. 😀

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Happy Sunday, friends. How was your week? Things were busy at the office on my end with meetings and deadlines and I was so ready to see the week come to an end on Friday afternoon. I came home, had a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner, and was in bed by 8:45 pm. lol I was wiped out. Of course that also meant that I was wide awake and ready to start my day at 4:30 Saturday morning. Ha!

Last Monday started out in the Mondayest of ways: I was walking into the garage to get into the car and head to the office and managed to break my toe. I shared some choice words, got in the car, and went on my merry way. When I got home that evening The Husband buddy-taped it for me and I've been hobbling around since then. Even though it's a lot less painful than it was, it looks horrible. Ugh.

The Husband was at the commissary (the grocery store on the Navy Base) on Thursday and they were doing some kind of customer appreciation event. He answered a trivia question correctly and won a bag of chocolates and a commissary gift card. Not a bad haul for a random grocery trip! 😀

This week's throwback song is Baker Street (1978) by Gerry Rafferty. It has a very late-70's soft rock vibe and is one of my favorites. Enjoy!

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Long time no see, friends! I think it's been a month since my last Sunday Post. I've managed a few other posts in the interim, but even so, it's been fairly quiet on the blogging front.

The Husband and I just returned from a getaway to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Nothing but total relaxation and good times.

Now after nine glorious days of R&R, it's back to the office (and reality) tomorrow. In some ways it will be nice to get back into my usual routines, but I'll also miss the lazy days with no schedules.

In hockey news, my Tampa Lightning went out in the first round of the playoffs. 😭 To add insult to injury, it was at the hands of the Florida Panthers (our #1 nemesis - big in-state rivalry). So now I'll spend the rest of the playoff season just cheering for whoever will beat the Panthers. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that. LOL

Over the past week or so two of my very favorite bloggers have said goodbye to blogging (for very different reasons, but still). They are both still active on Instagram so it's not as if they've disappeared, but I will miss their blog posts.

I can't say that I have not considered doing the same. And often. My interest in reviewing what I read has truly waned. My love for reading is as strong as ever, but the desire to craft reviews... not so much. So, not sure what the future will bring but for now I continue to post here and there and review when the mood strikes.

Since it's been a week of celebrating our 25th anniversary, this week's throwback song is coming from this week in 1999. This is Save Tonight by Eagle-Eye Cherry. Enjoy!
