The Sunday Post #54

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

My week of R&R was divine but it feels wonderful to be back at home. No matter how much fun you have, no matter how great the hotel/resort... nothing beats coming home, being surrounded by your own things, and sleeping in your own bed. :)

Lazy days spent by the pool dozing reading, taking a swim when it gets too warm, going out for a delicious dinner... repeat. This week of downtime recharges me every year.

I hit up a Barnes & Noble on our first day and picked up Queen of Shadows. I've yet to make it any further than Throne of Glass but eventually I will. In the meantime, the rest of the series is ready and waiting for me. :) We only had one day of rain so we nixed the pool that day and instead hit up an outlet mall and Disney Springs for shopping. (Actually, The Husband did all the shopping. I don't think I bought a thing.)

I was so excited to pick up the mail when I got home because The Book was waiting for me: A Court of Wings and Ruin! It's not even like I'm reading it immediately. I going to either reread ACOMAF or listen to it on audio to refresh my memory but just having it in my hands is enough to make me happy. :)

I may not have done any shopping while in Orlando but I did indulge in a little retail therapy yesterday. I've been eyeing a Michael Kors watch for a couple weeks and finally bought one. I went with a rose gold version and I have serious heart eyes for it. It's not often that I splurge on myself (well, other than books LOL) so this was a real treat. It's also been ages since I've worn a watch (I'm so used to just checking my phone for the time) so it makes it even more of a novelty.

  1. Oh your pictures look divine! I'm in need of a vacation myself! And I loved Rebecca Donovan's Breathing series. I hope you liked how it ended. I love Sarah J Maas and need to read her Court of Thorns and Roses series myself. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Sandy! I was glad to finally finish the Breathing series. It's been lingering on my shelves for ages. I liked it but didn't love it. (Because frankly I was getting kind of annoyed with Emma. LOL) You need to read the ACOTAR series and I need to read the Throne of Glass series! :)

    1. I've read two by Cotugno so far and had varying results. I loved 99 Days and was kind of meh on Fireworks. Not sure about NetGally but Top Ten is available on Edelweiss now. I hope you'll enjoy it if you decide to read it!

  11. Ooo where did you spend the week, it sounds so relaxing! I've been trying to convince my husband to go to one of those all-inclusive resorts in Florida or Mexico because I just want to sit around somewhere and do absolutely nothing. I'm so happy you enjoyed your little vaycay! I also love the rose gold color! I wish I was a watch person, they're getting more and more stylish.

    Happy readings, especially with ACOWAR!

    1. Hey Amber! We were down in Orlando all week. No theme parks, just a week of R&R. We always stay at the same place - Hilton Grand Vacations Tuscany Village. They're basically time share condos but we book it just like a hotel (zero interest in the time share aspect). We get a one bedroom suite so we have room to spread out for the week. It has a full kitchen if you're so inclined. :) It's not all-inclusive but that's never been an issue for us. 1) I don't really drink (very rarely) and 2) I enjoy going out in the evenings to different dinner spots. We've been going there 8-10 years now and really love it.

  12. We went to Disney Springs the week before last to look around. I love near there but haven't had a chance to fully look around since the remodel. You had a nice week with the weather too!

    1. It looks like the construction continues in some areas but even so it seemed like there was so much more since the last time we were there (when it is was still Downtown Disney). And we definitely got lucky with the weather last week! :)

  14. I LOVED Consolation by Corinne Michaels. You're gonna love it. Trust me. It's AWESOME. Anyway, I've been wanting to read the Sarah J. Maas series for a while. Hopefully this month. Glad that you loved it. That series is like EVERYWHERE and everyone seems to love it. So curious.

Have a wonderful week, Tanya. Enjoy your book and happy reading. :)

    1. I'm so excited for Consolation! I actually met Corinne about 2 years ago so I can't believe I *still* haven't read anything by her. And ACOWAR is definitely everywhere right now! The series has its haters - as does anything when it's that popular - but I absolutely love it.

  15. I'll be curious to see what you think of Contugno's book. I've only read one of hers (99 Days), and I really wasn't a fan---I own another one, but I've been scared to read it. We shall see. I'll be watching the reviews of this next one...

    1. Yeah, I'm 50/50 with Cotugno right now. I actually really liked 99 Days (one of the few who did LOL) but Fireworks was just okay. It'll probably be a while before I dive into the ARC for Top Ten since it's not releasing till October.

    1. Aw, thank you! Orlando is fun and an easy trip for us (we're only a 2 hr drive away) o we tend to go down a couple times a year. We skip the parks (no interest) and focus on relaxing and it's always a good time. I hope to have my review for Letters to the Lost up soon!
