The Sunday Post #218

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • It was a busy week and the blog kept getting relegated to the back of the line. But there was that one post so... winning.
  • The RNC that was being held in my city has been cancelled. Why thousands of people would want to flock to Florida, a COVID hot spot, is beyond me. But I'm happy there won't be an influx of people to my city next month.
  • I became obsessed with organizing my pantry yesterday. Two hundred dollars in baskets and bins and jars later... it's almost done. I have now fallen down the rabbit hole of organization on Pinterest and want to (over)organize every nook and cranny in my house. Send help.
  • This week's 80's music fix is Dance Hall Days (1984) by Wang Chung. There's a line in the lyrics that I misheard for years. My version made no sense but then again the actual lyric doesn't make much sense either.

  1. Right there is why people remain disorganized. The stuff you need to organize costs so much. I remember my daughter had like $500+ in her cart at the container store. I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw it.

    1. I'd be in big trouble if I had a Container Store locally. Thankfully the closet one is in Orlando.

  2. Organizing is such an overwhelming task! And expensive!
I'm glad they cancelled the RNC. First, it is a bad idea for that many people to gather anyway, and second, FL is already super hard hit so everyone would likely be exposed and then spread it back to their home states.

    1. I know, I'm so relived about the cancellation. It was such a bad idea to start with.

  3. I love how your random quote does fit the way you want to organize your Pinterest, lol!

I do feel, now that it's vacation that I sort of have to catch up with all my hobbies? Like, it's not really organizing, but make sure I spend time on every one of them.. reading, gaming, series, yoga, running, diamond painting, reading magazines, spend time with friends... Like; I'm having Summer Break, I do have to make sure I start work relaxed, not stressed out, lol. So I get the " SEND HELP " feeling, haha!

    1. Isn't it crazy how even the things that are supposed to relax us can turn into something that we feel pressure about?!

    2. I couldn't agree more! I'm just now in the habit of asking myself: What do I want to do now? And just do that. And be okay with it if I don't spend time, say for example, on reading that magazine.

  4. I'm glad you won't have a huge influx of people coming to Florida. You don't need that! Also jealous of your organizing.

    1. Me, too! The last thing Florida needs is an influx of people at this point.

  5. Hahaha! I can so relate! I have been on an organization kick myself lately.

  6. I see that your meme matches your weekly activity Tanya! LOL And 200 USD on baskets and bins? Good Lord! You'd go right along with my daughter .

    1. Well, I'm sure I could have done it for much, much less but I splurged on exactly what I wanted. :) Being a grown-up with disposable income is a wonderful thing. LOL

  7. Is it kind of weird that now I want to see a picture of your organized pantry?

    1. LOL Not weird at all. :) I love seeing how people organize. I'll try hard to remember to share a pic next week.

  8. I still can't believe people are coming here for a Disney vacation right now! I live close by and pay for an annual pass and haven't been since February! It sounds like we had a similar organizational week. I accidentally spent a bunch of money on bins and baskets for my linen closet. XD

    1. Isn't that this crazy?! In the midst of a pandemic, and right in the middle of a hot spot, but yeah, let's go to Disney. What the heck are people thinking? *sigh*

Ha! I love how you "accidentally" bought all the stuff for your linen closet. LOL

  9. I knew the cancellation would be a relief for you. I'm glad you are having fun organizing - I love that! My daughter did a bunch of DIY stuff. I'm the one who buys the organizing stuff. Enjoy some of your new reads this week!

    1. Yes! Thank goodness it was cancelled. Such a relief.

I like that set-up... you buy the stuff and she does the organizing. :)

  10. I'm glad the RNC canceled that, it was a bad idea. There's a big Renaissance festival coming up here in a few weeks and they haven't canceled it yet- they get a quarter million visitors roughly over a six weekend run- and I'm like do you people think you're really gonna be able to put that on? Crazy.

Pinterest can be a definite rabbit hole!

Dance Hall Days is awesome. :)

    1. Wow, I can't believe they're still going forward with the Renn festival. How in the world can they expect to have a gathering that size and still keep people at a safe distance? Bad idea.

  11. My daughter did the whole organize thing and her pantry is gorgeous. We don't have much space for the containers and whatnot, but I do appreciate the organization. Good luck with the rest of the house! And thank goodness about the RNC! They've been canceling big gatherings here in CA like Stagecoach and Cochella. That would just bed a hotbed of Covid. No thanks.

    1. I have a small pantry but it's also just the two of us so it's not like it's filled top to bottom with food for a big family.

I was so relieved when the RNC cancelled. That would have been a disaster.

  12. OKAY but can you share pictures of your pantry?! I love that stuff. And with that kind of time and money commitment, the world should see ;-)

    1. I totally should have shared a pic of the (almost) finished project. I'll have to do that next week. You're right... all that $$ deserves to get seen. LOL

  13. Thank goodness the RNC cancelled that. Having the convention there, especially since we know they would fight the masks and the social distancing, would be such a disaster.

I got on a organizing kick a couple of months ago. I think something about working from home and just looking at my mess more often got me antsy about getting my organizational act together. I still need to do my pantry though. I started at the other end of the house and gave up before I got to the kitchen, lol.

    1. Exactly. There's no way having it here (or anywhere) was a good idea.

I just do bits at a time (or the organizing). It's fun... until it isn't. LOL

  14. Our local supermarket has cute baskets on special offer constantly so I’m doing the same trying to be super organised.

I’m glad RNC is cancelled, I think it would be disastrous, there are too many people who wont wear masks.

Stay safe and have a good week.

I'm glad that convention got cancelled too. It seemed like such a dumb idea. LOL at that Pinterest quote!!!
I hope you have a lovely week, Tanya!

  16. Oh, Pinterest. You do get sucked down rabbit holes. LOL I'm glad the RNC was cancelled. I wouldn't want tons of people coming to my city right now either, especially since you're a COVID hot spot. That would be a disaster I'm sure.

  17. I'm so happy that conference is canceled, it made no sense. People are still flocking to Florida (my cousin just moved there and her family went there as a vacation), why invite an even bigger crowd?

I can't wait to start Boyfriend Material!

  18. I'm back to listening to Boyfriend Material and overall it's so charming and adorable but...Luc is getting on my last nerve with his pity party and treating everyone like crap. I'm hoping it turns around soon.

  19. I am so thrilled you had such a blast with Boyfriend Material.

I love organizing although it can be expensive at times. I stick with IKEA, they have some fun storage that goes with my home theme and are pretty affordable at the same time.

  20. I've had a crazy work week too. We are transitioning a ton of our employees to working online for the foreseeable future. While I'm happy this means our team gets to keep working, the logistics of it all have made for long hours. Hopefully this week will give me a bit more time to read!
