WWW Wednesday #107 | September 8, 2021

Happy Wednesday, friends! It's been a busy week already. I wasn't able to get a Sunday Post up, or a Top Ten Tuesday post, and I'm squeezing in this WWW Wednesday post when the day is already half over. *shrugs* But it's just a blog and it sure doesn't pay my bills so this is a stress-free zone. :)

This will probably be brief, but we can still chat about what we're reading, right?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Currently reading: I've barely started Jay's Gay Agenda but I've enjoyed the little bit I've read so far. Jay is such a likable character and I can't wait to get further into the story and see where his agenda takes him. And the humor is so spot-on. :)
Current progress: page 20 of 350

Currently listening: After feeling a little disappointed (just a smidge) with Pipe Dreams, I was happy to jump into Brooklynaire. I just adore Nate and Becca and their story keeps such a smile on my face. Their push and pull is delicious and I can't wait to sit back and enjoy as the rest of their story plays out. Bonus points for Zachary Webber taking over the male narration in this one. Love him!

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Recently read: Fact: Colleen Hoover has never disappointed me. And Heart Bones was no exception. I flew through this one because I couldn't get enough of Beyah and Samson and I needed all the answers. The only downside? As always, I find it almost impossible to review CoHo's books because I know I'll never do them justice.

Recently listened to: I was hesitant about Pipe Dreams from the start since Lauren was a character that I had not been particularly fond of up to this point. But I was assured that once I got Lauren's back story I would understand her better. And that was true; I did soften toward Lauren. But there was an aspect that rankled and kept me from being fully onboard. I adored Mike Beacon, I liked the storyline with his daughter, and overall I truly enjoyed the story, but that one aspect did keep me from being fully invested.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

There are at least a half dozen books that are at the very top of my TBR right now that I desperately want to read. But since I can only manage two books in progress at any given time (one physical/Kindle book + one audiobook) I'll probably go with these two. I have an ARC of Always, in December and it releases next month so I need to make it a priority. And my hold for the audio of Hang the Moon just came in so the clock is already ticking there. Fingers crossed that these are both hits!

  1. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed Heart Bones! It's on my tbr. It's been a while since I've read a Hoover book. I also have an arc of Always in December. I'm excited to get to it, too. Happy Reading!

  2. I didn't click the widget for December, though it looks wonderful. I have enough review books, though, I may cave because it looks good and these holiday romances are doing it for me these days. Don't know. Yeah! I am glad you are enjoying meeting Jay. Now, he's going to do some questionable things, be patient with him.

    1. I was excited to get the widget because it sounds like something I'll love. And I have maybe two review books for the rest of the year LOL so it wasn't exactly a hardship. :) Jay just met Max at his new school and I already adore him. And he's crushing hard on Albert. This is just too adorable.

  3. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Always, in December! I really got into holiday books last year and already have a tbr I want to conquer for this year but I wasn't familiar with this one. WHY does Max leave??? I'm so curious lol. Can't wait!

    1. Yeah, I don't get the whole stressing over a blog thing. I'm always like, seriously, your hobby is stressing you out? Time to reevaluate. LOL

  5. Work has kicked my butt these last couple of days and I have no idea how I got a review up, but you're right, this is a hobby and we should post when we feel like it!

Oh sorry Pipe Dreams didn't quite live up to your expectations! It's funny how each installment hits us differently, right? I'm wondering what aspect hit you the wrong way. I loved Nate and Becca's story in the next one! I think I haven't read any more after book 4. I need to get back to the series soon! I have a e-copy of Hang the Moon, but I'm waiting on the audio copy from my library to start it. Hope we both love it!

    1. I'll DM you on Twitter and tell you what the issue was. :) I probably won't mention it in my review because I don't want to say anything possibly spoilery.

I'm loving Nate and Becca's story! Now I just need her to get over her "we're not equals" hang-up! :)

  10. It sounds like Pipe Dreams was better for you than expected, but still bugged a bit. I think you will have a much better time with Brooklynaire and the rest of the books from that point forward.

    1. You're exactly right, Deanna. I did end up understanding Lauren a lot better than I expected and enjoying the book, but that one thing did still bug me. I finished Brooklynaire yesterday and loved it. I was practically squealing out loud toward the end. LOL
