Top Ten Tuesday: 2021 Releases That I *Meant* to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
2021 Releases I was Excited For... But Didn't Read

Uh, how much time do you have? Because, as with any list concerning what I meant to read/want to read, we could be a while. But in the spirit of playing by the rules (yawn), I'll keep it to just ten.

Don't Kiss the Bride by Carian Cole
The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
A Stormy and Sultry Sea by Katie McGarry
The Sinner by Emma Scott
The Mixtape by Brittainy C. Cherry
The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

HAVE YOU READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS?

  1. THE FOUR WINDS is a great one. It's depressing, but it's also very atmospheric, moving, and eye-opening. It's one I've thought about a lot over the months since I read it. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it.

    Happy TTT!

  2. I've read Harmon's, Quinn's, Cherry's, and Hannah's. All very good books. Harmon's and Quinn's were a couple of my favorite from 2021.

    1. So true! There's so much I want to read but pesky things (like a job) keep getting in the way.

I didn't love Maas's Throne of Glass but the ACOTAR series has been a big hit for me!

    1. I imagine The Four Winds will be heartbreaking (as all Hannah's books are) but still amazing.

  7. Highland Fling was fun and more emotional than I expected. If you like Quinn, I think you would enjoy it (I'm just saying...)

    1. Okay, I love hearing that it was more emotional than you expected - that's bonus points in its favor. :)

  8. Holly Black is an author I wanted to try but never did so I feel your frustration- there are SO many books I didn't get to in 21.

    1. As much as I love Kristin Hannah, I can't believe I didn't make The Four Winds a priority last year!

  11. I really thought I'd read A Court of Silver Flames last year too. I remember it coming out and I started to reread the original series and I just wasn't in the mood and it didn't happen. To be fair, I wasn't in the mood to read anything a lot of last year but hopefully I'll get to it.

    1. I think I kept putting it off because I am truly not a fan of Nesta. But everyone tells me this one will change my mind. Hopefully we'll both love it!

  13. I've read the Kristin Hannah book and ACOSF. I had put that one off for a while since I wasn't a big Nesta fan, but I ended up really enjoying it.

    1. And that's exactly why I've put it off, Suzanne. I've never been a fan of Nesta but everyone assures me this book will change my mind.

    2. I was really impressed that Maas was able to change my mind about Nesta. I have to commend her for that because I pretty much loathed her going into the book, lol.

  14. I desperately need to read Highland Fling too! I've really enjoyed Meghan Quinn's books!

    1. I feel like The Four Winds is going to be quite an undertaking, so I'll probably get to The Highland Fling first.

  16. I didn't end up liking The Mixtape, but I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up, Tanya. I'll have to try another Brittanie Cherry book. I also bought The Highland Fling but haven't got around to it either.

    1. I admit I'm a bit wary about The Mixtape because the last two I've read from Cherry weren't really big wins for me.

  17. I have read The Songbook of Benny Lament and ACOSF and loved them! I didn't like The Four Wind at all (too gloomy) and The Sinner was a dnf for me.

    1. I think the fact that it's Nesta's story is what's holding me back. :/
