WWW Wednesday #36 | January 9, 2019

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

I was grabbing my Kindle early this morning to read a few minutes before starting my day when I realized that what I really wanted was to pick up a physical book. My last 7 or 8 reads in a row have been either ebooks or audiobooks and I'm craving the feeling of having a physical book in my hands. Does that ever happen to you? You get burned out on a particular platform and feel the need to switch it up? All I know is as soon as I finish the arc I'm currently reading, I'm hitting up my bookshelves and grabbing an honest to goodness physical book to read. :)

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Moonlight Scandals (de Vincent #3) - Jennifer L. Armentrout
I'm about 75% through this arc of the final book in the trilogy. While I'm definitely enjoying the overall plot and unraveling the mysteries surrounding the family, I can't say that I'm sold on the relationship in this one. It's definitely a case of "it's not you, it's me" because I'm not a big fan of the hate-to-love trope and that's in full effect here. Still, the plot is twisting all over the place and I'm loving that aspect.

Jet (Marked Men #2) - Jay Crownover

My re-read (well technically re-listen) of the Marked Men series continues. I seem to have developed a tradition of listening to the entire series every year. I love revisiting these characters. They feel like old friends.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

The Christmas Sisters - Sarah Morgan
While this won't go down as a particularly memorable read, it was still enjoyable enough and I really liked the contemporary Scottish Highlands setting.

Better Not Pout - Annabeth Albert

I was looking for a quick holiday(ish) audiobook on Hoopla and came across this one. What a treat it turned out to be. I adored Teddy and his cheery, optimistic disposition and even the gruff and grumpy Nick was no match for his kindness.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

The Wicked King (The Folk of the Air #2) - Holly Black
I'm fairly certain The Wicked King will be coming up next. However, I plan on listening to the audio version which means that I'll still be hitting up my bookshelves for a physical book after I finish my current read. No idea yet what that will be, though.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  1. I feel that way about book formats too. I try to have an audio, physical, and ebook at all times.

I can't wait for you to read TWK. I think I'm going to BN on Friday to pick up a copy.

    1. Wow, you have all three going at once? You are The Master! LOL I always have an ebook or physical book that I'm reading. And then an audiobook that I listen to in the car to and from work.

I just downloaded my audio copy of TWK this morning. As soon as I finish my current audiobook it's game on!

    1. I decided there was no telling when my library would get the audio version so I used one of my Audible credits.

  4. I really liked Better Not Pout, so yay, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I try and go back and forth between e-book and physical but I can see how reading just one type would burn you out after awhile.

  6. I used to think that I would miss reading physical books but I'm just not that girl. Not anymore, at least. I dragged my heels jumping on the ebook train but now? I give away physical books and buy only in e. I'm a digital girl through and through.

The Marked Men series is a group of books that I always meant to get around to but never quite made it.

    Happy Reading, Tanya!

    1. I definitely read more on my Kindle (or Kindle app) than I do anything else. Sometimes, though, I just miss holding a book and turning the pages. :)

I started the Marked Men series 2-3 years ago just on a whim. Wanted something to listen to on my commute. It turned out to be way more than I expected!

  8. That's some great books right there! I'm reading The Morning Star by Debra Dunbar. It's the last book in the series so this is actually a bit emotional for me.

  9. Yes yes I need to switch between ereader and physical books. Also switch genre or I get bored. I just finished a duology by Chloe Walsh (1800 pages!) and will begin my ARC of Be the Girl by KA Tucker. The Wicked King has not arrived yet!!!

    1. 1800 pages?! And that's only two books? Wow, I don't often see contemporaries that are that long. Fantasies, yes, but not contemporaries.

So envious of your Be the Girl arc! I'm very excited for that one!
