The Sunday Post #163

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Working a full week after a 4 day weekend... zero stars, do not recommend.
  • The Husband and I went to a concert Friday night and had a blast. It was the NKOTB Mixtape tour and, to be honest, I didn't care much about seeing NKOTB. (Btw, when did they become NKOTB instead of New Kids on the Block?) By the time they came around (1990 or so?) I was pretty much past my boy band days. I really just wanted to see Debbie Gibson and Tiffany. LOL But I've gotta say, NKOTB were awesome! Great performers, lots of interaction with the audience, and they were obviously having a good time. Debbie Gibson and Tiffany were good, Salt & Pepa was fun, and Naughty By Nature... well, I was glad they only did 2-3 songs. Ha!

  • More progress on The Great Master Bedroom Makeover of 2019. The nightstands were delivered but one was damaged so I'm working to sort that out. The dresser was delivered yesterday. The main thing I'm working on now are the big blank walls. The search for just the right artwork is going to take a while, but it's a fun search.
  • We had a late lunch yesterday at Red Robin - The Husband loves their burgers so thank goodness it's on the other side of the city or we'd be there all the time, I'm sure - so neither of us was hungry at dinner time. We ended up have ice cream from Bruster's around 9 PM. Adulting does have its perks. :)

June Wrap-Up

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Totally enjoyed this one and will definitely read more from the companion series.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Say You Still Love Me is so good but unfortunately I just didn't make much time for reading this week. I'm about 65% in so hopefully I'll wrap it up in the next couple days. I definitely need some closure for Piper and Kyle! And I only have maybe 20 minutes left of Good Boy so I'll get the last bit of Blake Riley goodness sometime this afternoon. :)

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
What the Wind Knows - Amy Harmon

KINDLE BOOKS:

Fleeting (Nash Brothers #1) - Carrie Aarons
Forgiven (Nash Brothers #2) - Carrie Aarons

AUDIOBOOKS:
Only Ever You - CD Reiss

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  3. I'm debating reading the WAGS books by Bowen & Kennedy. I've blown through Kennedy's new adult series and I'm desperate for more.

    1. I wish so bad that they would continue the WAGs series! Good Boy and Stay were both so, so good. Loved them both! But I haven't seen any news about more books. *sobs*

  4. I need to get Carrie Aaron's books! I saw the third Nash Brothers book came out and it sounds totally up my alley! Yay for the concert! It sucks that one of the night tables was damaged. I really am hoping your makeover is done soon so you can enjoy it all!

    1. LOL I know, right? :) He scored major points for going along with that one.
I hope you'll love Say You Still Love Me. I just finished it this morning and it was the perfect second-chance romance. :)

  6. We are thinking of trying Red Robin since they have a gluten-free menu. I love burgers but my daughter will want chicken or turkey something or maybe one of the veggie burger things. I' slow on the reading myself with the moving this month. I hope you have a wonderful week even if it does have 5 work days.

    1. They definitely have a big and varied menu. Lots and lots of options. There seems to be something for everyone. Moving is such a time suck! Hope you're getting settled in.

  7. Oh my gosh what a blast from the past- Salt n Pepa, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany. that sounds fun! You know, it amazes me sometimes how some of these people are still performing. Not so much these in particular, but when the rock bands that are in their 70's go on tour... I don't know anyone in their 70's fit enough to go on a multi city tour lol. Anyway... looks fun. :)

I'm a fan of Red Robin!

    1. It was a blast! I wish there were more multi-act tours like that one.
Oh yeah, those older acts... like, The Rolling Stones are here this Friday night. I'm sure they put on a good show but even so... they're all well over 70. I think Jagger is 75 and Charlie Watts is 78! Let it go, guys! LOL

    1. He was a good sport to go along. He did know some of the music but for the most part he just took it all in. LOL

  9. That concert sounds awesome. I wasn’t a fan of NKOTB but I did a lot of dancing to Salt n Peppa and Tiffany in my day :)

    Have a great reading week

    1. Red Robin is great if you're into burgers. They do have a pretty varied menu but obviously they're known for burgers. I usually get the grilled chicken dinner but this time I actually did get a burger - bleu cheese, portobello mushrooms, garlic aioli... yum! :)

  12. I'm so glad the concert turned out so well! I love music and going to concerts - I've been lucky that every concert I've gone to was an amazing experience despite difficulties/problems (if there were any). Glad you had a good week, and best of luck on the rest of the renovation. :)

    1. That's awesome that you've had such great concert experiences! Most of the ones I've gone to have been really good... just a few rare exceptions over the years.

  13. That concert actually sounds like a lot of fun. I was past my boy band days by the time NKOTB came around too, but I remember my younger sister was obsessed with them so I heard a lot of their music through the bedroom walls, lol. I've got K.A. Tucker's book coming up soon too so I look forward to reading your review for it. Hope you have a great week!

    1. LOL Same here, Suzanne! I was past the age of fawning over boy bands by the time they came around but that doesn't mean I didn't hear the music. My little sister blared it. Ha! I just finished the new K.A. Tucker this morning and it was such a good read. Quintessential second-chance romance.

  14. You party animal! First a four-day weekend, and then a concert?? Go you! I didn't know they were called NKOTB now, but they were definitely a part of my teenage years, haha. Backstreet Boys, N'Sync… oh, memories.

    1. I know, right? I'm a wild woman! LOL I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the concert. They're really good performers and it made for a fun show. I wish more bands from *my* teenage years toured!

  15. I've just added Red Robin to my list of places to try when I'm next in the States...

I must admit, I was never much of a boy band girl but I so have a soft spot of 80's/90's tunes. :)

    1. Glad to add to your list, Nicci. LOL And if you needed anymore convincing, all their burgers come with bottomless (aka all you can eat) french fries. :)

I grew up on the music of the 70's and 80's (not so much the 90's) but I was in 80's heaven at that concert!

  16. That sounds like an interesting concert! LOL! I haven't been to Red Robin in forever! And now I have their catchy little song in my head 🎵Red Robin YUM🎵 Hope you have a great week!!

  17. I don't think anyone recommends going back to work after a long weekend. It's so difficult and I swear time does weird things because I'm sure it never usually goes that slow. Glad you enjoyed the concert.
