WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

Happy Wednesday, friends! I'm at home today getting prepared for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Making a grocery run for the last few items, setting the tables, making a few dishes in advance (deviled eggs and artichoke dip), pulling out serving pieces, etc. It's actually a truly bad time to take a day off from work (our biggest event of the year is next week so this week is crunch time), but I promised myself this year that I would do better at taking more time off, finding a better work/personal life balance, and recognizing when I need to step away. And today is most definitely that day.

Whether you're at home, at work/school, or traveling, I hope you're having a wonderful day. Take care of yourself.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I'm not reading anything at all right now. I finished up Coming Home for Christmas this morning and have been mulling over what to read next ever since. I've realized that I've been in a low-key sort of reading slump for a couple months now. Books that I thought I would love have left me wanting. I find myself easily frustrated with certain characters and tropes. I have no idea what to do about it. Take a break? Grab something at random? Re-read an old favorite? All I do know is that I am burned out on drama and angst and characters who do stupid things. LOL Maybe I need to pick up a few light and fluffy books as a palate cleanser.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I finished Coming Home for Christmas this morning and it was super sweet. It took place in a small town, was low-drama and low-angst, and had a lovely HEA. Just what I needed.

Speaking of drama and angst... Grip about did me in at times. Kennedy Ryan does love to put her characters through hell. And put her readers though the emotional wringer. Bristol drove me crazy at times but the slow evolution and her and Grip's relationship kept me hooked. And I love Jakobi Diem's narration. He also narrated Ryan's Hook Shot and I love his voice and performance.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

Good question... and I have no answer. I'm basically considering every single book in my library right now. LOL I do know I want to read a physical book so at least that eliminates everything on the Kindle. I'm considering What to Say Next because it's Julie Buxbaum. I'm considering one of the two other holiday romances that I picked up on a total whim. Or maybe I'll re-read something. Anything goes, people! :)

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  2. I don't know if my previous comment made it...
I was home cooking today too. It's nice to get a head start. I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.
I see why you need a fluffy read sherry Grip. That bill hits hard. If you have KU, I would recommend a Meghan Quinn or Max Monroe book. They're my go to when I want a fluffy, hilarious rom-com.

    1. I've never tried Max Monroe. For some reason I thought they were along the lines of Alexa Riley (which can be fun) but I guess they're more like rom-coms.

  3. I tried to leave a comment last week, but I don't think my phone let me? I mostly wanted to let you know that I hope you're well AND that I picked up Verity, and that I simply could not put it down. Amazing book! See, sometimes my tastes do cross over into your authors :)

Also I was in a reading slump for so many weeks, I'm now 18 books behind my goal and need to read 28 books to finish my GR goal. I'm not even sure if I should try!

    Sometimes slumps just happen.

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed Verity! Coincidentally, I was just watching a BookTube video yesterday and the person was giving a scathing review of Verity. I was thinking, "Did we even read the same book?" LOL

  4. Happy Thanksgiving! I took the day before off, too - my work is also crazy right now, but we need to have a life, too!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving. I read 'Cowboy Christmas Redemption' and definitely enjoyed it. I'm currently reading 'Holiday Ever After' a holiday collection.. I'm definitely loving it so far.

    1. I tried with Cowboy Christmas Redemption but just couldn't get into it. :( I think it was partly me feeling slumpy and partly the book. I finally quit after about 50 pages. Boo hoo!

  6. Your book and audiobooks sort of balanced each other out. I am sure Grip made up for any of the angst and drama missing from Coming Home for Christmas. I liked What to Say Next. It was almost perfect for me. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    1. It finally clicked the other day that I always tend to get slumpy this time of year. Work gets so overwhelming and stressful that I don't even feel like reading and can't concentrate on anything. I don't know why I never put the timing together! Starting in November every year I should just recognize that my reading is going to be non-existent until after Christmas.

  7. Sometimes reading something completely different to the books you typically gravitate towards is a good way of breaking out of a slump and cleansing the reading palate.
Re-reading old favourites is also good. Less stress and you know you'll enjoy it.

    1. Re-reading often does the trick for me. I did pick up the third and final holiday romance that I bought. So far so good!

  9. "I'm basically considering every single book in my library right now." <--- LOL! This is so me right now that it's not even funny. I keep starting books, reading a chapter or two and then pulling another book off the shelf and doing the same. I can't seem to settle on one.

    1. Yes! As I type this I have a stack of six books sitting on my desk that I was considering at some point. I finally settled on the other holiday romance I bought and so far it seems to be going okay. I might actually finish a book! LOL

    1. This reading mood/reading slump seems to hit me at this time every year. Things at the office are so stressful that I just can't concentrate on reading. So sad!
