The Sunday Post #219

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Because 2020 has already been such a barrel of laughs, August decided to up the ante with a hurricane. Hurricane Isaias is skirting the east coast of Florida this weekend. That's me, chilling in the northeast corner of the state, wondering what's next. Hopefully Isaias will stay far enough offshore that it won't be a big deal. But at this point nothing would surprise. What's next, a sharknado?

  • Hockey is back, hockey is back! *insert much happiness and joy* Staying at home hasn't been much of a hardship for me (I've always been something of an amateur hermit just waiting to go pro), but staying home without hockey has dimmed the shine a bit. But hockey is back and I may or may not have watched three games back to back yesterday.
  • Last week I mentioned doing a whole pantry organization thing and a couple of you lovely people commented with "you must share your masterpiece?" Or something to that effect. I didn't take a before pick, but here's the after. I'm not quite done, but done enough to share my handywork. :)

  • This week's 80's music fix is from the Scorpions - for very obvious reasons. This one was just too easy. #sorrynotsorry

  1. Oh no- I heard about that hurricane! I hope it stays far away from you guys. And yes hockey- it's nice to have it back, I agree. We need SOME normalcy, right?

"amateur hermit waiting to go pro" haha that made me laugh. Same! I'm having less trouble with stay-at-home than a lot of people are lol.

Rock You Like A Hurricane! Wow!!!

    1. Watching hockey yesterday was definitely a shot of normalcy. Even though it was pretty weird to see the arena completely empty. Ha.

Rock You Like a Hurricane seemed quite appropriate for today. :)

  3. Your pantry is a work of art. Gold star to you! Jax has that slight geographic advantage that tend to protect it a bit from hurricanes - being in the indent there. I hope the 'cane stays far enough away and leaves Jax alone. True story: we play Rock Me Like a Hurricane while we sat on our porch watching Hurricane Gloria in the 80s. Nothing like theme music.

    1. Thanks Sam... I'll take the gold star. :) Yep, that indent have saved us from direct hits/serious impact many times in the past. Now, you really used the song perfectly... while actually watching the storm. Kudos. LOL

  4. Staying home hasn't been a hardship for me either and my husband is so happy sports are back. He was so sad without them. He loves hockey, just hope those guys can stay safe.

We are suppose to get some of that hurricane on Tuesday. I am super jealous of your pantry, I need to organize my kitchen better, I have stuff all over. lol

I hope you have a great week, Tanya! Happy Reading!

    1. Seems like there are a lot of us who are quite content to stay at home. You are my people. LOL A whole weekend of back to back hockey was such a jolt of fun and normalcy. It seems like the NHL is really going above and beyond with the safety measures and I'm glad to see that. Looks like we'll barely get skimmed by the hurricane... I hope you fare as well, Michelle! Stay safe.

  6. Hopefully the hurricane takes pity on everyone. This year has been enough of a dumpster fire. Pantry looks great!

    1. Right?! It's like, don't we have enough to deal with without throwing a hurricane in the mix?

  7. Ugh, I hope that hurricane stays far away from you!

LOVE the pantry pics! Makes me want to go organize mine...

  10. Stay safe!! I hope it moves out far enough so that you only get the rain you enjoy. My kids were just joking about us only needing a Sharknado to finish the year off right. LOL!

    1. Ha! Too funny about the Sharknado. At this point who would even be surprised? LOL

  11. Omg, I love that Totally Random. I haven't seen that one before!

I hope you stay safe with the hurricane. It's just one thing after another this year.

Yay for hockey being back. I love ice hockey, but I don't really watch it unless I GO to a game, which I have missed.

    1. I haven't seen any of the newer Star Wars movies (like in the last decade or so LOL) but somehow I am still obsessed with Baby Yoda. LOL

I miss going to the games, too. But it's hard to imagine doing that again. I can't imagine feeling comfortable in crowds like that again.

  12. Hopefully the hurricane stays offshore, we were in Florida for hurricane Matthew, I’d never seen anything like it before. We weren’t allowed to leave the hotel for two days.

    Stay safe out there!

    1. Oh my goodness, what timing to have been here in FL during a hurricane. Not the trip you imagined, I am sure!

  13. I hope the hurricane won't be too bad for you. It's heading up I95 and will start raining here tomorrow. I LOVE the pantry organization. I have some of those baskets with handles in my pantry. I got them at Dollar tree. The kitchen ones are navy. My linen closet ones are gray and my daughter's linen closet ones are teal.

    1. Thanks Anne - hopefully it will miss you as well. I feel like you're in NC, is that right? If so, I hope you're far enough inland that you won't be impacted by any flooding. Stay safe!

I love that your baskets are color coordinated for each space! :)

I'm curious about Blood to Dust! How is it?

    1. Blood and Dust is my first by LJ Shen so I feel like I'm still getting into the groove of her writing style. But I'm definitely enjoying the story and am curious to see where it goes.

  15. I am SO happy to have hockey back!! It feels like forever since I saw a game :)

And oh no about the hurricane....hope you stay safe through it. It just never ends does it? How much more can we take right?

    1. Yes! I positively binged on hockey all weekend. LOL

Right? That's what I've been thinking. Like, really, a hurricane on top of a pandemic? Sure, why not!

  16. My hockey team just won their game a few minutes ago! I’m so happy. I didn’t realize how much I missed hockey until I turned on the games yesterday, and life suddenly felt more normal. I hope the hurricane misses you. My grandpa lives in Florida, so I’m watching it too. Have a great week!

    1. Yay! So exciting! Who is your team? I follow the Tampa Lightning and the St. Louis Blues. I could not believe the ending of the Blues game last night. The other team scored with 0.1 seconds on the clock. What a heart breaker.

I hope your grandpa is doing okay. It looks like the hurricane is barely going to skim us so that's good news.

    1. We got so lucky with the hurricane and it passed us by. Far enough offshore that it wasn't a big issue. I'm stilling basking in the organized pantry. I just open the door and appreciate the symmetry. LOL

  20. I hope you're staying safe from the hurricane. We just started getting storms from the outer bands up here in Central Virginia a few hours ago and I've already had enough of it, lol. Your pantry turned out great. I seriously need to do that in mine because it's out of control.

    1. Thanks Suzanne. It actually passed us by with little to no issue so we were lucky. It sounds like you might have had it worse!

  21. I really hope everything is okay for you with the hurricane! We're supposed to have flooding here, but nothing crazy, I really hope it misses you! Also we have like, the SAME pantry, and I HATE the shelves (they're the same as yours, with the slats, and EVERYTHING falls out of them and such) and I LOVE your idea of baskets! I am absolutely going to try this, thanks for the tip!

    1. We got totally lucky with the hurricane and it basically missed us completely. The northeast actually got it worse than us. I hope the flooding in your area wasn't too bad! Yeah, my pantry (well, our pantry, I guess, since you have the same one lol) is so small. And that wire shelving is so lame. I already had some shelf covering on them to prevent any fall-thru but I'm loving it so much more now with the baskets and air-tight jars and containers.

  22. Why are those pantry reorganisation pictures so satisfying to look at? I could never have things looking that tidy, I'm too disorganised a person (although it's organised chaos in my mind).

    1. As long as it works for you, right? :) I can totally fall down the rabbit hole of looking at organization pics and videos. So satisfying.

  23. Oh wow... I hope the hurricane doesn't land! 2020 has enough problems. (I love the song choice though 😂)

The pantry pictures are awesome! Much better than the absolute shambles of mine. Maybe I should do something about that...

    1. Thankfully the hurricane passed us by. Because we definitely did not need to add to the dumpster fire that is 2020!

I'll jet on over and organize your pantry. :)
