The Sunday Post #231 | November 29, 2020

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
To those that celebrated, I hope you had a wonderful (and safe) Thanksgiving. Ours certainly looked different this year. There were just three of us - me, my husband, and my mom. My sisters were at their homes celebrating with their own families. Sure, it wasn't ideal, but we made the best of it, focused on all the many, many things we have to be grateful for, and had such a good, low-key day.

I was off work Wednesday through Friday so I've been enjoying five days off in a row and it's been divine. No work, no stress, time to spend the way I want... I could get used to this. :)

This Etsy commercial has been making my heart so happy. No telling how many times I've watched it but it always puts a smile on my face. Have there been any holiday ads that have caught your eye?

This week's 80's music fix is Right By Your Side (1983) by Eurythmics. Annie Lennox has such an amazing voice and I've always loved the reggae kind of feel to this one.

  1. That sounds like a great Thanksgiving for this year. Things are definitely different than normal, but it makes you appreciate what you do have right?!
I got the All I Want For Christmas and Stay For Me book too. I can't wait to start reading them.
Have a great week and happy reading.

    1. Exactly right, Maureen. This year had been quite the reminder to appreciate what we have and worry less about what we don't have.

  2. There really are a lot of amazing ways to enjoy potatoes. Glad you got to celebrate in some way, even if it was more low key. I am curious to see what you think of Well Played. I liked it, but I know part of the plot seems to split readers on it.

    1. I'll probably finish Well Played tonight or tomorrow. I can see where some would take issue but I'm going with it. Although, something was just revealed that bummed me out. Another tidbit was wasn't shared when supposedly there were "no more lies."

  3. Love potatoes too ! It was a low-key week, wasn't it, and a low-key year, too. Weird. But thanksfully, we'll all meet the ones we love again some day ? Have a great sunday !

  5. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. We had my mom here too but yes it was definitely different this year.

    Well Played looks good...

That potatoes sign cracked me up. They are very versatile! :)

  6. I am pleased to hear you had a good, lowkey Thanksgiving with your husband and mom, and enjoyed some well earned time off. 😊 Sadly my week was just work, as we were in our fourth and final week of England's second lockdown! Looking forward to a bit more freedom next! Take care and happy reading. 🙂

    1. I at least hope the lockdown is working and that the numbers are coming down. Fingers crossed that things will improve this month!

  7. Yes Thanksgiving was vastly different for us this year than how it normally is. There was just four of us since my siblings did their own feast with their kids. But we still went all out on food, watched football and played cards with pie. It was just a quieter day than I am used to LOL You are correct in that we have so much to feel humble gratitude for. Despite how difficult this year has been, it has also shown us how blessed we are.

    1. Sounds like you managed to have a really good day, even if it was different than the norm. We played some games, too, and it made for a fun afternoon.

  11. Etsy has had some amazing commercials this year! My mom's favorite is the little boy who had a doll made of his drawing of himself for his Grandma. They all make me cry!

  12. The extra time off work has been so, so wonderful! I enjoyed our quiet Thanksgiving but it did seem a little strange not to have a bigger group. I do love the Eurythmics! I hope you have a great week and enjoy your new additions!

  14. This was a different Thanksgiving for sure. It was just my husband, daughter and I this year. We zoomed with my sister's family and my parents. That was pretty much it. I also downloaded those two free Christmas anthologies. I read one and I really liked it.

    1. Thank goodness for technology like Zoom so we can see our families even when we can't be together.

  15. I'm happy you had a nice holiday and enjoyed your holiday break. Since we moved to NC, it's mostly been just my daughter and me so it wasn't such an unusual year for us. I really like it at home. Stay safe and well! Happy reading!

  17. Aww, that Etsy commercial is so wonderful! How lovely and heartwarming is that?! 🥰 I can imagine how good five days off would feel like and I know I could definitely get used to that too 😂 Glad to hear that you managed to have a good day despite it being different than normal. Indeed, there's a lot to still be thankful for! How are you enjoying Well Played? I can't wait to read it! And what did you think of Queen Move? Lol hope you have a great week ahead!

    1. It took me a long time to get through Queen Move but I think it was more a timing thing and not the book. It felt slightly less high-stakes than some of Ryan's other books. But I loved Kimba, and Ezra was... swoon! :)

  18. I'm glad you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with your mom ♥! And I also downloaded All I Want for Christmas Is You Anthology, but I didn't know about the other one, I'll have to check it out thanks! I'm already on my 5th Christmas book lol, so the more the merrier!

  19. I love Annie Lennox! That's a little sad that you could only have your mom but it will be the same at Christmas for us! Only one person so we have to choose between my mom and my mother in law!

    1. Yeah, a Thanksgiving for three people was kind of pitiful but... better to be safe and follow the guidelines. Oh dear, choosing between the mom and the MIL won't be fun! Good luck with that!

  20. That etsy commercial was soo unexpected! When I first saw it, I cried. Whoever wrote/directed it needs a promotion.

I also had a lowkey Thanksgiving. We have so much food left over but it was really nice just to hang out.

I read V.1 of Heartstoppers and it was cute. And those 2 holiday Kindle books look fun.

Yes! Let's be thankful for potatoes! Especially in fried form.

  24. The Etsy Ad was awesome! I hadn't seen that one but I've used Etsy a lot this year... I think the best ad I've seen this Christmas was Amazon's one with the ballerina. That almost made me cry.

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving even if it was a different kind of Thanksgiving.
