The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
Another week... still working from home. It's been eleven months of working from home with just a couple short interludes of being in the office. It's just bizarre sometimes to think it's been almost a year of this. A year of having our lives shaken up and looking so different. And how so many things now seem normal when before they would have sounded so very strange.
It was a fairly uneventful week... other than me being a total shopaholic (online, obviously). I ordered new rugs from Amazon (dining room, foyer, hall) and that turned into "let's just start adding to the cart." So that happened. The Amazon delivery drivers are going to hate me next week. Might be time to put the snacks/drinks table back out on the front porch. :)
This week's 80's music fix is a one-hit wonder. Anyone remember Beat's So Lonely by Charlie Sexton? And just a head's up - there are no vocals in the video until about a minute and a half in. Looong instrumental intro.

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK
Listened to:
I downloaded this one from Hoopla after hearing a Booktuber rave about it. It was a taboo/age gap romance and I was pretty impressed with how Cole portrayed it and let it play out. She steered clear of anything salacious and the character's actions (and reactions) felt realistic. I'll likely continue on with the companion series at some point.
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING
Reading:
I'm reading an ARC of Corinne Michaels' latest and I'll probably finish it up today (which is a good thing since it releases Tuesday). As with every book I've read from Corinne, I love these characters and I'm pulling so hard for them.
PHYSICAL BOOKS:
I love how you are prepared to leave snacks out on the porch for your deliverers, if only more people were as thoughtful as you are. And I agree life has changed topsy turvy in the past year.
ReplyDeleteI figure those delivery drivers work long hours, often in bad weather, and they're on such tight schedules they can't often stop for drinks or snacks.
DeleteYou stumped me with this week's tune. Is there really anything wrong with investing in stuff to make your home comfy for you, when you sort of spend all your time there? Good for you letting your online shopper run free! The last time I was in the office was March 2020. I don't miss it and am dreading returning. Unfortunately, my new job has parts that have to be done on site (we have been using a work around right now). Enjoy all your new stuff!
ReplyDeleteI decided early on that I just wasn't going to feel bad about the online spending. We haven't traveled, we no longer go out to eat... so, yeah, online shopping it is. :) I'm perfectly happy working from home, too. I'd be fine to just stick with it.
DeleteHaha, online shopping has been such a comfort for me, too! I wish my bank account could handle it, though!
ReplyDeleteLOL Right? :) Online shopping has definitely become a form of entertainment. And apparently this past week I really felt the need to be entertained. Ha!
DeleteOnline shopping is just way too easy. My bank account is screaming NO.
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to just keep adding to those online carts! LOL
DeleteYes, it's crazy how much our lives have changed this last year right?! I'm starting to miss the old 'normal' more and more lately to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your enjoying your online shopping! We have to entertain ourselves somehow right?! :P
I finished reading 'Return To Us' the other day. I definitely loved this Corinne Michaels book so much again!
Have a great week and happy reading.
I know what you mean, Maureen. I've done pretty well over the last year but at times I do feel burned out with it all.
DeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed Return to Us, too!
My family and I were just talking about how strange it is to realize that we have been living so differently for a year now. I know how things get out of hand when you start to redo something around the house. I recently had the carpet taken out to redo my office, and ordered a rug, and then another for the spare room, and then the carpets came out of the master, and another carpet ordered... On and on. I hope you enjoy everything that you ordered.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, it's a total domino effect, isn't it? One project leads to another. But I enjoy it. :)
DeleteIt really is wild to think about how long this has all been going on. I'm coming up on a year out of the office too. I actually have to go in this week because our one essential employee recently came into contact with someone who tested positive and has to quarantine. It's going to be so weird to be in there all day. I thought I remembered that one hit wonder until I started listening to it but I don't, lol. The lead singer looks familiar but I think I had him confused with someone from another 80s band.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I have to go in to the office one day this week and already I'm thinking about how strange it's going to feel being there all day.
DeleteI've been working from home 11 months too, and I agree. It is wild that this has become normal too us! We had some crazy winter weather that brought power outages and no water in South Texas this week, so I'm happy to be returning to work this week.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about you, Ethan! I hope you're doing okay... power and water back. The news reports have been so terrible. :(
Deleteyes, it's almost a year and such a change. I mean we stayed home a lot before but I shopped for our stuff and now we get nearly everything delivered. You have some of te latest books to read. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart
Yeah, I've always been a homebody but I do miss going to restaurants.
DeleteIt's still insane to me that we're a year into this too! I've started ACOSF but I have to admit I'm SCARED I'm going to hate it! I hope we both enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI'm nervous, too, because I've never been a fan of Nesta. Fingers crossed we will both love it!
DeleteMy life doesn't really look all that different than it did pre-pandemic. I still have to go into the office every day. I was never someone who went to a lot of stores either. You stumped me with this week's 80s song because I don't remember this one at all. I hope you have a great week, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually have a hard time staying at home. I'm a total homebody. But there are definitely times when I'd love to go to a restaurant and eat, or go browse Target. Maybe by the end of the year...
Delete""let's just start adding to the cart." ha so true.
ReplyDeleteIt is weird how things have changed and how so many things are "normal" now that were not before- crazy. And that we're going on a year. Who could have guessed? Hopefully the vaccines will help us get some normalcy soon?
I love those intrumental intros! :)
Right? Like the thought of being in public without a mask now seems insane. But a year ago seeing someone wearing a mask was hardly the norm, and I would have assumed they were ill or had a compromised immune system. Strange how things change.
DeleteMy daughter always remembers the date of March 13th as the start of our quarantine. I would have forgotten the date, but she never does! :-)
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Quite a memory on her! :) For some reason I actually remember mine, too - March 16. March 13 was my Mom's birthday and we all went out to lunch. And three days later was quarantine and working from home. So weird.
DeleteIt is weird that's it's almost been a year, but honestly it seems like it's been longer. I still have to go into work but my hubby works from home. I hope it doesn't change for him since his commute totally sucks! No guilt for improving the space you spend most of your time in! You need to enjoy life!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't miss the commute, either! Mine wasn't too bad, but even so, working from home is much better than dealing with the traffic!
DeleteI'm perpetually angry and sad at how this pandemic and this country has basically led to us losing 1 year of lives. I know it feels petty to complain about it when people are literally dying but I had so many plans for the year and this year does not look like it will be anything better.
ReplyDeleteI just got back to the ACOTAR series. I'm not as big of a fan of these books as everyone else, but I was weirdly in the mood for it last week.
I hope you have a good week, Tanya!
In my opinion, the whole thing was mismanaged from the start. Things could have been so much different if we'd had someone who took it seriously and actually cared enough to make the right decisions. But here we are a year later. I hope you're enjoying whichever ACOTAR book you're reading. Sometimes you just gotta read for your mood. :)
DeleteI got a new rug for my kitchen earlier this year from Costco and love it. I need to get a new one for my living room. I never thought of getting it from Amazon! That's a great idea! I hope they don't hate you. If anything, you're giving them job security! ;)
ReplyDeleteNice on the new kitchen rug! We have a Costco nearby (and a Sam's and BJ's) but I've never been. The current rugs came from Amazon and were good quality (they're Safavieh)... I'm just ready for a change.
DeleteThe last time I went to a store without a mask was March 17, 2020. I was buying a birthday cake for myself. I thought my next birthday would be normal, but it’s not looking like it will be! Enjoy your new Amazon purchases.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Little did we know how different our lives would look almost a year later. With no real end in sight. Ugh.
DeleteUgh I am a homebody but I am SO sick of the inside of my house. I have redecorated, reorganized, and rearranged. Just want to get more people vaccinated so we all can go back to doing things. I think by the summer things will be better. I hope!
ReplyDeleteYep, I think at this point we've all done all we can within the confines of home. I'm getting itching to be out and about. Hopefully by summer!
DeleteHah I love the totally random!
ReplyDeleteIt is really weird that we've doing this for almost a year now. Some parts have gotten easier, but I do have my antsy or bad days. It's up and down sometimes. What can do you do??

Right? Not much to do but keep on hanging in there until more of us can get vaccinated.
DeleteI finished A Court of Silver Flames yesterday I think. I zipped through it while being snowed in all week.
ReplyDeleteSnowy days sound perfect for diving into a big, chunky fantasy novel. :)
DeleteI remember Charlie Sexton, he was cute ^^ I had started Sarah J. Maas's Throne of glass series but haven't finished it yet, I should catch up in the future (= when my physical TBR is extinct). I remember there was a time when I watched videos in Asia and thought these people wearing masks in winter were strange... I've been working from home since last March, with a gap of 2 months and a half at "real" work, I guess it will feel strange to go back there now. But my home benefits, I'm planning on transforming my kitchen ! There's a new rug, pretty stickers on the wall tiles and soon, new shelves. Enjoy your week !
ReplyDeleteI read Throne of Glass several years ago but never continued with the series. For some reason I just didn't connect with it the way I did with the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Your kitchen updates sound fabulous!
DeleteI can't believe we're so close to the one year anniversary of quarantine-times. I was on maternity leave from January to April so I haven't set foot in my job's office in over a year now.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking at rugs too! You'll have to show me which ones you got.
Wow, it's already been a year for you. Crazy, isn't it? It will be so weird to "return to normal." Whenever that happens.
DeleteI'll share pics of the rugs when they come in! :)
It's been 11 months of homeworking without break for us too Tanya! Now the man on Corinne's cover has such pretty eyes!! I want his lashes!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, gorgeous lashes, gorgeous face, gorgeous body... he's just yummy! :)
DeleteI'm making better progress with my reading. I might finish Feb with a whopping 2 books read lol
ReplyDeleteThe rainy winter is getting to me because now I can't get outside as much and no indoor things so...
Karen @ For What It's Worth
Two books is better than nothing, right? :)
DeleteUgh, sounds dreary. I hope you get a break from the rain soon.
As I’m not buying books this year I find myself devoting time to shopping online for random things with my current obsession being tea!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like something fun to shop for... and not terribly expensive! :)
