The Sunday Post #244 | April 4, 2021

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
Save me from the pollen! It's bad here every year, but I swear it seems worse this spring. The pollen counts are in the medium/high range every day and it shows. Cars are covered with it, everyone seems to be suffering from some kind of allergy, and I think we're all ready for some rain to wash it all away.

I received my second COVID vaccination on Friday. My side effects were slightly more than the first dose, but still minor. Sore arm, headache, and a little fatigue. That was it. Nothing that some Tylenol and a nap couldn't cure. :) My habits won't be changing for the foreseeable future - not until more people are vaccinated - but it's still a good feeling to know that I'm better protected.

Last weekend was spent selling our living room furniture in anticipation of the new furniture delivery. By Monday everything had been sold and picked up and I was left with a big, empty room. And nowhere to sit. Oops. Guess I was a bit overzealous. LOL I actually didn't think it would all sell so quickly, but we priced everything fairly low just to be sure it sold and I guess that equated to quick sales. We resorted to lawn chairs in the living room to have someplace to sit in the evenings. Not comfortable, but temporary. The living room furniture was delivered yesterday and it felt great to put the room back to sorts. Still a few weeks out for the dining room furniture but there's no great rush for that.

And an update: the white noise machine as been a big hit. On nights that it's a bit too cool to run the ceiling fan all night, the white noise machine is perfect. Plenty of noise options and volume options... great purchase. Highly recommend.

This week's 80's music fix is New Moon on Monday (1983) from Duran Duran. They were my favorite back then. As with most of their videos, this one makes very little sense, but as a teenager I didn't care. I was all about the eye candy. :)

  1. Ooh I'm actually kinda curious now about your new living room! We did it the other way around, had a new couch recently but did not sell the old one yet. My living room is quite small so we had 2 couches in there, LOL! Luckily the old one was taken away 3 days later, because we also priced it fairly low ^^

    Have a great week ahead!

    1. I'll have to try to remember to share a pic next week. :) Too funny that we did it opposite. But I think I would have rather had two couches than none! LOL

  2. That's awesome that you were able to sell the old furniture. You can't help timing, but at least the room is ready for the new arrivals. Congrats on your second dose! Glad it didn't sideline you too much, and you're right, it's about peace of mind. White noise machines can be little gifts from the universe. I use mine a LOT.

    1. I'm surprised at how much I'm loving the white noise machine. One day when I travel again (whenever that might be LOL) I can definitely see needing to take the machine with me so I can sleep. :)

  3. Ah I'm sorry for the allergies! I haven't been dealing with pollen but I have been dealing with some dryyyyy weather. Every morning I wake up and my nose and throat are just very unhappy with me. And my hands are cracked and itchy. Honestly, I hate this time of year (and summer lol).

Glad the noise machine worked out! I use the TV >.< HAHA Probably shouldn't do that.

    1. Same here, Molly. Spring and summer are *not* my faves. But I would actually probably take the spring pollen over the summer heat. Ugh! Me and hot weather do not mix.

  4. I love that you had to resort to lawn furniture in your living room! I hope that you are enjoying your new furniture. Yay for getting your second dose! My husband and daughter got their first this week but when I signed up it said it would be a while before I would get a turn. Oh well. I hope that you have a great week!

    1. I hope your turn comes soon, Carole! At least your husband and daughter have a level of protection... which is good for you, too.

  5. Ugh the pollen!! Thankfully it hasn't gotten BAD yet here, but its coming. My nose is already stuffy.

    1. I don't know if it gets worse every year or if I just get more annoyed with it. LOL

  6. That's amazing that you already got your second dose of vaccine! I am still waiting for my first sigh... And you made me laugh with the lawn chairs in your living room LOL Now have a great week Tanya!

  7. I'm glad you got your second vaccine dose! I laughed over the living furniture as I've done something similar before but with bedroom furniture... Good times, lol. Glad everything has arrived!

    1. Oh geez, the lack of bedroom furniture might be even worse. No way do I want to sleep on the floor. LOL

  8. Yes the pollen is starting up here but I don't do anything so it hasn't affected me much yet. I hope you like your new furniture. All my furniture is stuff I bought at estate sales or consignment places in 1980 or the bookcases and dressers got passed down through the family. So I've had most of it for more than 40 years now. I did get all the living room stuff reupholstered right after we moved though. We get out second shot this week and I'm in no hurry to be out of the house myself.

    1. My probably is I get bored too quickly and want to redecorate. I think this is the third time I've redone the living room in about 15 years. Same for the master bedroom. I get tired of looking at the same decor and want to start from scratch. :)

  9. The pollen hasn't started here yet, but it's coming! Congrats on getting your second vaccine, and hooray for new furniture!

  10. Pollen here is KILLING me, too! UGH! And I got my second covid vaccine shot on Friday, too! I had a sore arm where the joints in my elbow, shoulder and wrist ached yesterday. I was a little tired and today I've got a headache, but it could be pollen related. I feel the same way about it.

I'll be interested in your Rogue Wave thoughts.

    1. Yeah, a few more side effects with the second dose but still what I consider minor. No complaints here!

I've been having mixed thoughts on Rogue Wave. So much of it took part in the past - in high school - and I wasn't loving that. And then Keith and Sam were apart for a big gap. Another meh. I'm at the 75% mark and they've just reunited so we'll see how it goes from here.

    2. Yeah, it wasn't my favorite in the series for those reasons. I wish it would have ended better, the series.

  11. Congrats on the vaccine! We're hoping to get ours here soon. It is somewhat comforting knowing that as vacc rates rise things get hopefully a little more safe for everyone. Just out of curiosity, do you mind sharing what brand white noise machine you got? We're thinking of getting one.

    Duran Duran were the best!

    1. Sure! I got the Letsfit White Noise Machine. It was about $25 on Amazon. I'm sure there are fancier versions but this one has what I wanted and works great. And it's small enough to be pretty unobtrusive.

  12. How exciting that you got new furniture! I'm laughing at you being left without anything to sit on though. :D
Also, I loooove my white noise machine! It really helps on days when I'm feeling particularly anxious.

  14. Ugh, the pollen is doing me in every time I walk outside so I feel your pain. Yay for getting your second shot and that the side effects were minor. I get my second shot next Monday and will be so relieved. Your love of the white noise machine has me really tempted to grab one for myself.

  15. Ugh, allergies are the worst. I hope you get some rain to wash a bit of that pollen away. Yay for getting your second vaccine. It really does make you feel a bit better, even if you don't change much of your habits!

  16. Yay for getting your second dose! I didn't feel good after both the first and second one, but it's better than getting Covid! Yay for getting new furniture! It's already in the 80s here too. It feels like we went straight from winter into summer. I hate that. Hope your allergies don't give you too much grief.

    1. Yep, I think we've basically skipped spring, too. Straight to the long, hot summer!

  17. The Cake series is one I want to read. Glad you got your second shot. I think my experience with both shots sounds like a lot like your experience. New furniture is fun, I got a new couch a couple weeks ago myself! We had 80 degree weather the last few days, so I guess we're getting summer now. Oh well. Have a great week!

  18. Poor you with all that pollen. We're experiencing a cold snap here in the UK with odd clouds of snow and hale so the runny nose pollen days feel like a long way off.
Hope you have a lovely week, Tanya, with your new furniture. X

  19. I always had more allergies in the fall when I lived in FL. The dried leaves killed me. But spring wasn't great.

My husband is having more allergies than me out here (PNW) so far.

What shot did you get? I got the 1st Pfizer last week and just had the sore arm.

  22. YES! My allergies are so horrific this week. I was actually hoping we would get a mini snow dump to help with this, even though we're in the 70s. I just want some reprieve please lol. And yay for your second COVID shot!
