Happy Wednesday! What are you up to today? I'll actually be leaving the house today. *gasp!* I'm meeting my bosses for lunch. I work for the Board of Directors and the three of them (the CEO, the COO, and the CFO) are just the best. I couldn't ask to work for/with better people. But it's been ages since the four of us were together at the same time. I'm thinking it was last September-ish? For the last year they have alternated days in the office so, on the rare occasion I'm in the office for a day, one of them will be there (maybe two), but never all three. So this will be quite a treat today. We're meeting up at 4Rivers (yum!) since they have seating on a big outdoor patio.
How is your week going? What are you reading today?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Currently reading: A new release from Jennifer Weiner always makes me happy so I was excited to dive into That Summer. But for some reason I'm not making a lot of headway with this one. I think it's more me than the book. It's one of those cases where I enjoy the story while I'm reading it, but in between I don't find myself thinking about it or being antsy to pick it back up. Yesterday I finally had to set it aside so I could move on to a Corinne Michaels ARC that is releasing next week. I'm sure I'll pick this back up as soon as I finish the other ARC.

Currently reading: I loved the first book in this series when I read it back in February so I've been waiting for Could Have Been Us. I knew Jack and Stella's story would be emotional but... gah! I only read the first chapter before bed last night but it made me cry! Seriously, the FIRST CHAPTER. It revealed right away the past Stella and Jack have together and oh man, did it rip my heart out. Now I just want to sit and read all day. If only I could...
Current progress: 4%

Currently listening: I listened to Dade's Teach Me last week and enjoyed it so I decided to move on to 40-Love. I'm not too far into it but I'm already hoping that main character Tess lets up on the I'm-so-old/I'm-too-old-for-you talk. Already I'm like, enough, we get it. Forty is hardly ancient (insert much eye-rolling) and if she's that uncomfortable with the age gap between she and Lucas, this is going to make for a long book. But I am enjoying their banter and I'm looking forward to both of them opening up a bit more.
Current progress: 15%

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Read: What a surprise this one was! I enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I felt invested from the very start, mostly because both Lucian and Emma were so completely likable. The whole grumpy-sunshine aspect totally worked for me and I just loved the evolution of their relationship.

Listened To: Teach Me was a lot of fun and the narration was so well done. It was interesting to learn Rose's background and how that had shaped her. And Martin... what a sweetheart! Seeing him finally appreciated for who he was, and also seeing him be firm about what he needed and deserved, made my heart happy.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

I'll definitely return to That Summer as soon as I finish Could Have Been Us. And The Invisible Husband of Frick Island is another one that I'll probably pick up very soon.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  3. Hope lunch was great. I liked Make It Sweet too. Luc's dilemma was a tough one, and all the side characters were great. I started listening to 40-Love today. We're audiobook twins

    1. Totally twinning! I felt for Luc, so much, but his decision near the end was breaking my heart for those who loved him. Thank goodness it turned out the way it did.

  7. I hope you had a lovely lunch! Yay for getting out of the house and doing something fun.

I am reading a couple of books, but I am mostly focusing on The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It's a re-read for me for the Christie 2021 challenge.

    1. I'm nowhere near ready to eat in restaurants again, but I was (mostly) okay with the outdoor seating. It was a nice little bit of normal.

    1. LOL Not exactly. :) I set one of them aside for now but I included it since technically it's in progress. Then one is my current Kindle read and the other is my current audio read.
