The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
I hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July (for those that celebrate). We randomly decided to take a drive in the evening (no chance of going to bed with all the noise of the fireworks) and we ended up seeing a pretty impressive fireworks display at our amenities center. Less than a mile from home, no traffic, no crowds... nice!
Unfortunately, my brother-in-law had an accident on the 4th and was taken to the ER. He had a fall and broke his hip. Ouch! He had hip replacement surgery on Tuesday and is now back at home. I'm sure he has a lot of physical therapy ahead of him but we're all relieved that he's doing so well.
The big excitement came this week when my team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, won the Stanley Cup in Game 5 of the series Wednesday night! For the second year in a row! I was beyond excited and was practically jumping up and down as they all took to the ice in celebration. Such an exciting series, and exciting season, and it was great fun to get caught up in it all.

I tried a new recipe this week and it was quite the hit. This chicken sandwich is practically a dupe for Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and they were delicious! We weren't impressed with the sriracha mayonnaise so next time we'll just use regular mayo. These were made in the air fryer and if you're interested you can find the recipe here.

This week's 80's music fix is Boulevard (1980) by Jackson Browne.
My Mother-in-Law got a hip replacement because she was unable to walk and she is around 62..
ReplyDeleteWe recently visited and I was so amazed how fast she could to things! I hope it will go just as smooth for your brother-in-law :)
That's great that she recovered so well! My brother-in-law is only 53 so we're hopeful that his recovery is a quick one.
DeleteI hope your brother-in-law has a good recovery and nice to hear he's doing well. Your Totally Random post made me chuckle - it's so true!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
Thanks Lauren! He's actually pretty lucky because it could have been so much worse. So glad you stopped by! :)
DeleteI love that laundry quote. It made me lol. 😆
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your team winning the series.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your team winning the series.
Thanks Alysia! Yeah, that laundry is never going anywhere. LOL
DeleteOMG! Your poor BIL. Hip injuries are no joke. Glad he is doing ok. Congratulations on your Stanley Cup win. I am happy your team won. The chicken sandwich looks yummy and you had me at Chick-Fil-A.
ReplyDeleteI swear, I think I could eat at Chick-Fil-A daily. Keep those chicken sandwiches coming. LOL
DeleteBest wishes for a speedy recovery for your BIL! Mmm, love Chick-Fil-A and that sandwich sounds so good! Is it weird that I actually like doing laundry?
ReplyDeleteI can see that. It's definitely a feeling of accomplishment when it's all done.
DeleteOh no a broken hip!! That is rough. That sandwich looks good!!!
ReplyDeleteI might have to make those sandwiches again this weekend. They were so deelish!
DeleteWishing your brother in law a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteI heard on the news that the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup and I had one of those "how do I know of that team" moments before realising it was your hockey team! My husband was all, "who is Tanya?" when I had my eureka moment, lol. It's weird when those little moments hit. :)
LOL I love that... "who is Tanya?" :) It's funny when that happens. I'll be sharing something a blogger friend posted and my husband is like, "who are you talking about?!" Ha!
DeleteNice to hear you stumbled upon a nice fireworks display! Hope your BIL has a speedy recovery. That sucks! The sandwich looks delicious! I'm going to look up the recipe. I don't like sriracha sauce so good to know to just use regular mayo. Can you believe I've never eaten at a Chick-Fil-A?
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Get thee to a Chick-Fil-A, Rachel! LOL
DeleteSo sorry about your brother-in-law! Hope he's feeling better! And that chicken sandwich looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl! He's starting to get around a bit so that's encouraging.
DeleteYikes about your BIL!
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in FL, the whole neighborhood set them off and they went all out so we just had to sit in our backyard and watch. We went to the ones in the park here 2 years ago but the crowds were crazy this year so we just stayed home and listened to the dogs bark all night at the ones everyone was setting off lol
I don't have an air fryer yet. I keep debating it. I went with the bread machine and love it. I'll need to clear more counter space lol
Karen @For What It's Worth
Sounds like you've really put that bread machine to use, though! I've actually been surprised at how often I use my air fryer.
DeleteI hope your BIL does well with the after process. We didn't do anything exciting for the 4th and luckily it wasn't too bad here. I love Jackson Browne - that's a blast from the past.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Jackson Browne had so many great songs. Very nostalgic.
DeleteCongrats on your team winning the Stanley Cup! I'm so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law but it's good to hear he's on the mend. That chicken sandwich looks pretty delicious. Kind of makes me want to get an air fryer since Chick Fil A is so expensive.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Chick-Fil-A is definitely pricier than other fast food places. But so, so good! :)
DeleteYay Lightning!!!! I think winning the Cup is one of the more exciting moments in sports. Happy for you guys. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your brother in law though. Glad he's doing ok. And that chicken sandwich looks yummy!
Awesome song!!
I agree, Greg. The excitement was just crazy. :) They had the big boat parade in Tampa yesterday and it was so fun to watch.
DeleteI really hope your brother recovers quickly! That must have been scary! I need to get on the Heartstopper train.
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I've read so few graphic novels but Heartstopper is just so adorable. :)
DeleteTied sounds amazing! I'm adding it to my TBR! Also, hoping your bother gets well soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie! And thanks for the follow! :)
DeleteThat is not fun for your brother in law. I'm glad he is doing better! I really enjoyed Waylaid. I hope you do, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying Waylaid. How can you not love Rickie, right? :)
DeleteCongrats on your team!! And I am sorry for your brother in law. I know hip replacement is quite a common thing these days but still. Also we are waiting for our fireworks on July 21st.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the fireworks in your area will be limited to one day instead of many! LOL
DeleteOh no - I hope your BIL is doing okay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber. He goes back to see the surgeon tomorrow so hopefully he'll hear that he's progressing well!
