The Sunday Post #269 | November 28, 2021

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a wonderful day with family and friends. Unlike last year (which was a party of three - rather pitiful), everyone was in attendance this year. (Price of admission? Fully vaccinated. And thankfully, everyone is.) I have hosted at my house the last couple years and, while it's exhausting, it was also a fantastic day with family and food and good times.

Last Sunday we spent the day getting the house ready for Thanksgiving. That included putting up and decorating two Christmas trees. We were so wiped out by the end of the day but we also had some pretty great views to show for our efforts. In a month that has been incredibly stressful and overwhelming, my pink tree is bringing me serious joy. :)

Although I managed to take off on Wednesday, I still ended up doing some work from home. It was aggravating stuff that I should have been notified of a week ago but instead was dropped on my lap the afternoon before a long holiday weekend. You know, when everyone has the day off, or left the office early, and isn't thinking about work for the next several days? Yeah, that was super annoying, and there was basically nothing I could do about it at that point. Not a fun feeling but I set it aside and will have to deal with it on Monday.

On Friday I was quite the hermit and never left the house. Thursday exceeded my limit of peopling and I needed the quiet time. I holed up in my library and decided to rearrange all the bookshelves. And that snowballed into doing a massive book unhaul. By the time I was done I had pulled 79 books from my shelves. Books I have read and don't feel the need to keep, or books that I haven't read but have lost interest in. The Husband was kind enough to box them all up and take them to the used bookstore for me. Now someone else can enjoy the books, I have more room on my shelves, and a little cash in my pocket. Everyone wins! :)

In case you missed it, I'm taking part in the Thankful for Books Giveaway Hop! You can win a free book of your choice (up to $20). There are two days left to enter so click here for your chance to win.

This week's song is a total 80's cheese-fest. The late 80's were chock full of them: cheesy songs, cheesy videos, cheesy dancing. It was glorious. LOL I Like It (1989) by Dino is such a prime example. Enjoy!

Not Until You (Second Time Around #3) by Corinne Michaels - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

My reading is still practically at a standstill and the only reading that did happen was thanks to audiobooks. Better luck next week... maybe?

Layla by Colleen Hoover
One Christmas Wish by Brenda Jackson
If I Only Knew by Corinne Michaels

Reading: Technically I'm still reading Layla but I finally had to set it aside to start on One Christmas Wish, a review book that is due soon. Hopefully I'll get back to it very soon because I was totally enjoying the creep-factor in Layla.

Listening: In my continuing effort to finish up series that I've had in work, I'm currently listening to If I Only Knew, the fourth and final book in the Second Time Around series by Corinne Michaels.

  1. "Price of admission? Fully vaccinated." Love that. :) Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving! That's a great pic. Hosting is exhausting, but it's also nice tohave everyone together.

Same here on Friday. No Black friday for me! Haha and it can be very liberating to periodically retool the bookshelves :)

  2. Wha ha ha!! I love that final picture. That is so funny!! I love Wednesday.

Gosh, that pink tree is stunning! I've started buying pink and blue Christmas decorations, just can't decide if I want a green or a white tree. Will see!

Layla sure is doing the rounds at the moment. Will need to get a copy.

Have a good week and happy reading!

  4. OMG! Every 80s cliche is in that video/song - LOVE IT! Your trees are beautiful! Nice job, and good job with the unhaul too. That's a LOT of books you trimmed.

    1. I was brutal when it came to the unhaul. None of the "wellll, I might read it one day." Nope! Off you go. LOL

  6. Wednesday totally was Friday and then I kept trying to figure out what day it was all weekend. It's wonderful you could spend the time with family for Thanksgiving and what a good looking group! Good for you on getting your books organized and some repurposed. I enjoy Corinne Michaels.

    1. Corinne Michaels has become such a go-to author for me over the last year or so. It was amazing to see the family at Thanksgiving this year. Quite a switch from last year.

  7. Oh my gosh that meme at the end is hilarious!! Everyone had to be vaccinated to go to my parents house on Thanksgiving as well.

    1. Luckily we didn't run into any issues with vax status at Thanksgiving. The one person who was questionable (my sisters MIL) made other plans so it was a non-issue.

  8. I am LOVING your trees. I am biased towards your pink tree. I have a white tree that my hubby bought last year and we put color lights on and it goes pink and I am obsessed. Glad ya'll all got together for this Thanksgiving.

  9. I love both your trees so much!!!!! My tree is a pink tree...a tabletop tree...but I haven't put it up yet. Seeing your pink tree SLIGHTLY inspires me. I'm just so lazy.

limit of peopling!!! I love that.

Ugh...I know what you mean about people dumping work on your right before a holiday. It's like they saved it up or something. Rude.

Hope you have a good week!

  10. Your trees look great! Our live tree arrived Monday, but we both worked and then had the holiday. We didn't get lights on it until today and plan to finish with the ornaments tomorrow. Like you, I recently did a giant book purge. Now I have shelf space again!

  11. Yay for being able to get together with your whole family for Thanksgiving. Love the photo! I also have major heart eyes for both of your trees. So gorgeous. LOL at the Dino video. I loved that song so much back when it first came out. I don't remember the video but I do remember it came out right around the time I got my driver's license so I remember cruising around blasting it on the radio.

  13. I got Ignite, too! I can't wait to read it. The blurb called to me.

That's wonderful you got to spend Thanksgiving with your family! I did, too. We were all vaccinated as well and we did rapid tests the night before just to be extra cautious because the littlest two only have had one shot so far. It was so fun, though! And I love your trees!

    1. So smart to do the rapid tests!

Fingers crossed we both love Ignite.

  15. What a beautiful family! Sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving despite some last minute work drama. Yep, I need a day of rest after hosting dinner parties, too! A lot of work even if they are fun. Your trees look cute. Hope your week is more restful, Tanya!

  16. Yay for a wonderful Thanksgiving! My mom, aunt and I each host Christmas, Thanksgiving or Easter so it makes it less daunting only having to do one holiday a year♥. Ohhhhh your trees are absolutely gorgeous, WOW! I love them so much!

    1. It makes so much sense to trade off on the hosting duties. Unfortunately my mom and my younger sister have pets (one has cats and one has dogs) and I am highly allergic. Spending a day/evening there would be miserable. My other sister doesn’t have pets but also doesn’t really have the room to host everyone. Soooo, that leaves me. LOL Thank you, thank you for your comments about my trees! They make me so happy. :)

  17. Oh no, I'm sorry! Being miserable for a special day would just be awful. You're a super star for always hosting then ♥!
