The Sunday Post #292 | June 26, 2022

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

I shouldn't have complained about last week being so hot. Because Florida said, "Hold my beer" and kicked it into high gear. By Thursday of this week it hit 102 degrees (39C). I know this is Florida, but it's actually pretty rare that we hit triple digits (at least here in northeast FL). This coming week should be better (I cringe as I say this) with temps "only" around 90 all week. At this point, 90 sounds like a freaking cold front.

In Stanley Cup news, the Tampa Lightning won Game 5 Friday, and that was on Avalanche turf, in Denver. Very exciting game! Game 6 is tonight back home in Tampa. They really need to win tonight in order to stay in contention for the Stanley Cup. Go Bolts!

If you've known me any length of time, you know I'm not a TV watcher. During hockey season I watch the Tampa Lightning games, but otherwise, I don't follow any shows, and rarely watch TV at all. That is, until I heard all the raves for Heartstopper. I watched the trailer and within minutes I had signed up for Netflix. LOL I've watched the first five episodes and... gah! Charlie and Nick - I just can't with those two! They are too precious for words and the casting could not be more perfect. Such an excellent adaptation from the books.

The news this week (in the U.S.) seemed to go from grim to downright depressing. So I'm lightening my mood with some pure pop goodness, courtesy of Debbie Gibson. Enjoy some Shake Your Love (1987).

  3. I loved the book Heartstopper, and I definitely need to get to the show. And 39C is where we are currently at in Dubai. And I am hating it too. I hope you have a great week ahead.

  4. I am not a hot weather person, so that sounds like torture to me! It is in the 90s here this weekend and I am basically just sitting in front of the air conditioner.

  7. We are cheering on Tampa Bay in my house! I am hoping that my pool gets just a few degrees warmer but maybe the humidity could just go away. I think that we definitely need something to lighten the mood right now. Have a great week!

    1. Carole: Our cheering didn't help, I guess. But Tampa played an excellent game last night and was so close to winning the Cup again. Hope the pool warms up a bit for you this week!

  10. I always complain when it's hot here in the UK. It has been cooler this week, but still...

I haven't watched a lot of TV recently. I spend my evenings reading. I have a few Blog Tours coming up so I need to get things read!

    Have a great week ahead!

  11. Loved Caressed by Ice and Under Locke! How nice you were gifted books on your wish list!

It's been hot here too, but I don't think as bad as it is down south from where we moved. Not as bad as where you are for sure! Especially with the humidity there. Stay cool, Tanya!

    1. Rachel: Under Locke was so good, but I love The Wall of Winnipeg and Me just a bit more. :) I've been slow getting into Caressed by Ice but hopefully I will have more time to read this week.

  14. That is hot for north Florida, but if it makes you feel any better, it's an oppressive 94 in NJ. There is a claim that the humidity is only 33% but it feels higher. Here's to better temps later in the week. Good luck to your team, and I cackled when I saw you signed up for Netflix to watch a program. Glad it was a winner for you.

    1. Sam: Yeah, my weather app showed 30% humidity the other day and I was like, yeah I don't think so. It felt like I was swimming through air it was so muggy. I know... me with Netflix. How crazy is that? LOL But I just had to see Heartstopper and I'm so glad I did. :)

  15. Ha ha! I love what you said about 90 feeling like a freaking cold front. That's how I feel about the temps where I am. We routinely get over 100°F in Utah during the summer and the heat is so oppressive. The only thing we have going for us is that we live in a dry climate so we don't have humidity added on to the high temps. I know you have to deal with humidity and I'm sorry you do. :(

  19. 102 degrees? Ugh! Though we have hit some pretty high temperatures for June here in Virginia, too. It's the humidity that really makes it bad in the Southeastern states.

Thank you for the bubble-wrap factory photo. It's the best laugh I have had all day, and I needed it.

  24. I actually just picked up the first Heartstopper book because the Netflix rave reviews have had me so curious. I still remember all the words to that Debbie Gibson song. My sister was obsessed with her so that album was on repeat for half my teenage years, lol.

    1. Suzanne: I'm not one for graphic novels but something about Heartstopper appealed to me. I've inhaled each book. :) And the series... gah! So precious. Too funny about your sister's obsession with Debbie Gibson back in the day. To this day, when I hear the song Oh Sheila (remember that one?) I think of my younger sister. She played it CONSTANTLY. On repeat. I still give her grief about it. LOL

  25. It sounds like you're having the same weather as us. We were between 101 and 103 all last week, and now we're hovering around 90. I never thought 90 could feel like a cool front. I'm so over these triple digits.
I need to read/watch Heartbreakers! Glad you're enjoying it.

    1. Alison: Yes! Enough with the triple digits, right? I don't even want to go outside. Ugh. I hope you'll love Heartstopper (book and series) when you get to it!

  29. The heat and humidity is no joke. We've been in the triple digits for a few weeks here in Texas, but we also had a bit of "cold" front here this week. We're all giddy over our high of 93! Haha! I just finished the Heartstopper adaptation and it was SO good! Absolutely adorable. And I was a huge Debbie Gibson fan in my early teens. Love that song!

Heartstopper is everywhere at the moment! I haven't read the book, webtoon, or watched the show but I've added it to the watch list so I'll get to it at some point! It looks adorable.

Heartstopper is an absolute joy - both books and show. I swear, each episode was like a hug to my heart.

My hockey team made it to the very end but finally lost in game six of seven. So close! But it was a great season. :)
