It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
THE WEEK IN REVIEW
It's been about three weeks since my last Sunday Post. Either I was too busy to create a Sunday post, or I couldn't be bothered. 😉 Even so, I've managed a few posts each week, including a couple of reviews, so I haven't been a total slacker. lol
Here's what's been going on in my world the last few weeks:
- Celebrated my mom's 79th birthday
- Booked a getaway for some R&R in late April/early May
- Had a second follow-up with my doctor about the lingering cough from last summer. I have a referral to a specialist to see if my asthma has shifted from chronic to more acute. Good times.
- The pollen is off the charts and even my daily allergy meds don't always do the trick. It irritates my throat and makes my voice gravelly and raspy. So attractive.
- The Tampa Lightning are *this close* to clenching a wild card spot and I am so ready for Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Husband and I hit up a local food truck for lunch on Friday and while the food was tasty I was a little taken aback at the cost. I get that food prices have gone up across the board, but $28 for two sandwiches and tater tots? Is it just me?
Yesterday morning we tried a breakfast spot we've not been to before - Holey Moley Bagel Bar. We both got sausage, egg, and cheese on an asiago bagel. *chef's kiss* Big hit and we'll definitely go back.
This week's throwback song is Boogie Wonderland (1979) by Earth, Wind & Fire. The Husband and I saw them in concert 5 or 6 years ago and what a show they put on. Those guys were all in their mid-60's at the time and they went nonstop. So many of their songs are on the soundtrack on my life. 😊 Enjoy!

WHAT I READ
Audio: The Lady in Glass by Anne Bishop
I didn't read the whole book, only the couple of stories that were
tied to The Others series.
CURRENTLY READING
Kindle: Stay With Me (Sugarland Creek #2) by Brooke Montgomery
Kindle/Audio: Tangle of Need (Psy-Changeling #11) by Nalini Singh
NEW ADDITIONS
Nothing this week.
It's always nice to find a good restaurant. We are always looking here to avoid the usual places for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteHarvee - It's fun to find someplace new instead of ending up at the same old places over and over.
DeleteFingers crossed for the Tampa Lightning Tanya! And I hope you'll get good news from that second doctor!
ReplyDeleteSophie - Thanks! I just saw the specialist last week and started some new meds so hopefully they will help.
DeleteI hope all goes well with the doctor's visit. I can imagine asthma is difficult in the FL environment. Everything is expensive. I went to Cane's with my daughter and our food was $28+ - we had chicken, fries and a drink. Shake Shake was $51 for me and my parents. Happy Birthday to mom! Here's to many more!
ReplyDeleteSam - Those prices are crazy for what is basically fast food! I swear it doesn't seem that long ago that you could get a restaurant entrée for $10-12. Good luck finding that now.
DeleteMy daughter and I are trying new restaurants we have not been to before in our area, it's been enjoyable so far. I hope you get good news with the specialist. Happy Sunday, Tanya!
ReplyDeleteJody - It's always fun to try new places... and hopefully find new favorites! :)
DeleteI've really enjoyed seeing your posts, so I'm glad you are finding a rhythm that works for you. I think there's something about mobile food options that makes them terribly expensive. The Rodeo in Houston had so much enticing food, but the costs were all outrageous! I paid $30+ for a burger and onion rings.
ReplyDeleteEthan - I agree! Years ago food trucks were considered "cheap food." Not so anymore! Now they're trendy and practically gourmet... and very pricey. $30+ for a burger and onion rings... I hope that was the best burger EVER. LOL
DeleteLife can be so distracting and busy! Glad to see you are well and you and the hubs have been trying some new places to eat out. I really want to try out Brooke Montgomery this week. Hope you get that cough figured out soon. Happy Birthday to your mom. March is the best month for birthdays!
ReplyDeleteRenee - I think by now you've already read the Sugarland Creek prequel novella and liked it, which I was thrilled to see! I loved that one so much. :)
DeleteEvery time I hear Boogie Wonderland I think of the episode of The Office where Daryl is leaving. So good!! The pollen is starting to get bad here as well and I am already over it. I have just accepted that I will never be able to breath again.
ReplyDeleteSamantha - I've never seen The Office but I love that Boogie Wonderland was used in it! :)
DeleteWhen I left L.A. in 2016, my sister and I could get a sandwich, fries, and a drink for less than $20. Now I'm back and a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A was $9-something and a chocolate shake was almost $8. I don't have a car so I had to have it delivered and the total with tax, fees, tip, etc was $25 for those two items...no fries...and that's WITH the "free delivery" subscription. And no, I don't get fast food delivered all the time. It was a special treat for my week of deep cleaning. LOL
ReplyDeleteJinjer - That's an incredible jump in prices in those 7-8 years. And $25 by the time it's delivered - for fast food! - is crazy. But you deserved after the cleaning spree. lol
DeleteI love Earth Wind & Fire. You are still working away at the Psy-Changeling series and you are getting to some of my favorite books in the series coming up. I was having some allergy troubles and I have been taking Allegra for about 22 years. My doctor suggested I may have developed a bit of a resistance to it and that I try another, so I am taking generic Xyzal and it is working great. My shoes are covered with yellow pollen!
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne - That's about how long I've been talking Allegra, too. Back then it was prescription only and finally became OTC. I considered switching to something else but I don't want to make multiple changes at once (then I won't know what worked). For now I've started on two new asthma meds and I'll see how it goes.
DeleteThat Psy-Changeling book was probably my least favorite of the series, unfortunately, but I'm still excited to continue on. I just enjoy that world so much!
It's not just you. Eating out is SO expensive now.
ReplyDeleteBoogie!!!!!!
They still tour. I see they're with Chicago this summer. How are these people even still alive lol? I wonder if they're any good
Greg - It's amazing that those guys are still touring. I know they're all in their 70's now. They put on a fantastic show when I saw them 5-6 years ago!
DeleteI'm sorry to hear your cough still lingers from last summer! I hope the specialist has some solutions. I'm sure allergies aren't helping either. I love planning for a R&R trip! It's a nice thing to look forward to. Hope you enjoy the Psy-Changling audio!
ReplyDeleteRachel - It's hard to tell what the cough is related to, but I did see a pulmonologist and we've started a treatment plan. Taking action (any action) is encouraging. :)
DeleteYes, eating out is getting pretty expensive.
ReplyDeleteThe random thought made me snort!
Alicia - We've definitely cut back on eating out so much because of the prices.
DeleteMmm, bagel sandwiches! My weakness. Eating out is getting so expensive! Tom and I treat ourselves to lunch on Fridays and it's never less than $30, and we only typically go to fast casual places.
ReplyDeleteAngela - I looove breakfast sandwiches! Toast, bagels, biscuits, croissants... I don't care which bread is used, I just love them all. :)
DeleteIt's not just you...food prices seem astronomical these days. And my allergies have kicked up higher than usual, too. I'm so tired of sniffing and sneezing. And yay for booking a trip! I love when you have something to look forward to like that. :D
ReplyDeleteLark - The pollen seems off the charts this year. It's worsened both my allergies and my asthma. Hopefully it will end soon!
DeleteCosts are crazy. In general, I get it, and will pay more, but we used to have breakfast at Panera once a week in FL - it costs $14 for both of us. Now? $35 for the exact same order, plus they cut so many corners it doesn't taste as good. I stick with smaller restaurants where at least if I'm going to pay that much, it's quality and helps local.
ReplyDeleteKaren - Right? Prices have basically doubled in some instances. And yet often quality and service have declined. Not a good combination.
DeleteWe ate out this weekend because my kid had a soccer game an hour and a half away and it was dinner time. I was shocked at the prices. I saw on the menu they wanted $18.49 for 2 regular size soft pretzels, about 1/4 cup of cheese to dip in, and a little cup of mustard. They wanted $15.99 for 3 small street tacos. A hamburger was like $20.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your mom! I hope time flies to your vacation!
Deanna - Those prices are crazy! Grocery prices are bad enough, but eating out is ridiculous. It used to be the norm for us but not so much anymore.
DeleteThat bagel sounds delicious! But yes, the prices have become so high...
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your mom!
Lindsey - Food prices have really soared! Both in the grocery store and eating out.
DeleteFood prices are insane right now. I'm not sure we go anywhere for less than $40 and don't even get me started on grocery costs. I hope your doctor's appointment goes well and they're able to find some kind of treatment that makes your cough goes away. I feel you on the allergies. It rained this morning so things are a bit better today but it's been bad here. I hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteKatherine - Right? Food prices are so high that by the time I buy groceries I don't feel led to drop $40-50 on eating out. It's crazy!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your mom.
ReplyDeleteHope your cough is remedied..
We have been watching a lot of hockey as well.. Let's Go Rangers! :)
Thanks Hena. One of my bosses is a big Rangers fan so we have quite the (friendly) rivalry going. :)
DeleteI hope your mom had a great birthday! And yuck on the asthma. My middle child for years had to do 3 breathing treatments a day to prevent attacks because his was so bad. It's a miserable thing to deal with!
ReplyDeleteAlison - I've had very mild asthma since childhood so the thought that it has become more acute after all these year is a bit annoying. I hope your middle child is doing much better with it now!
