The Sunday Post #83

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

For those that celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a wonderful day - surrounded by family and friends. It was an incredibly busy (and sometimes stressful) week here - filled with two days at the office and then two days of shopping and planning and decorating and prepping and cooking. It was my first year hosting and by the time everyone had gone home Thursday evening my entire body ached with exhaustion. But... it was absolutely worth it. I think everyone had a great time and I loved spending the day with my family. It's not often that all of us are together at the same time and it makes me so thankful for the times that we are.

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you brave the Black Friday crowds ? (I steered clear and was an absolute hermit.) If you don't celebrate, what was the highlight of your week?

  1. Ooh, that's a good Audible sale for sure! I'm glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. I didn't really do much; it just me and my dad. I did most of my shopping online, but I did go out Friday with a friend - we didn't get a ton; it was more just to hang out! :)

  3. Ha! Your Total Random, is so me. lol... Your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful. But I bet you are tired. I don't go anywhere on Black Friday, crowds and I don't mix well. Not when I can order the same thing online. :) You got some really good looking books and I hope that enjoy them.

    1. Yeah, that's my kind of triathlon. LOL No crowds for me, either. They're annoying... and often just plain overwhelming. It's like over-stimulation and I need out. Thank goodness for Amazon. Ha.

  4. Glad your first Thanksgiving was successful. I cook every year, but since we moved away from family, gone are the days where I cooked for twenty plus guests. LOL Yep, I did not go out at all. Such madness!

    1. Thanks Kim. :) I only had 12 here but everyone contributed so it wasn't like I was doing it all myself. That would have been much more stressful. LOL

  5. Congratulations on hosting this year! Glad it was a success. I will never host, because I hate to cook. Nice audiobook haul. Love Albertalli's books, and I am a Crownover fan too. I still need to start the Royally series, which I heard is great (and I have two of the books).

    1. Thanks Sam :) I don't hate to cook... I just very rarely do it. It's just me and Robert so we typically eat out most nights. I've only read the first Royally book but enjoyed it even more than I thought I would. I'll definitely continue the series.

  6. Congratulations on successfully hosting your first Thanksgiving! And nice Audible haul. I wonder if you have to be a subscriber to get the sale prices? I'll go check.

I rarely shop physical stores on Black Friday anymore -- too much madness. I got my fill of that decades ago, when I worked retail. And anyway, I was sick.I did do a little shopping online, though.

    1. Thanks Lark! Hm, not sure about how that works at Audible. Fingers crossed that it still works for you!

  7. Glad you had a great Thanksgiving! We hosted too and it IS tiring! And no Black Friday for me, although I did do a little online shopping and snagged a Chromebook for a good price. I'm a new convert to online shopping lol!

    1. Nice on the Chromebook deal! I've seen them online but have yet to play with one in person. I need to hit up Best Buy and check them out.

  8. Glad you had such an awesome Thanksgiving. And that audible sale was GREAT! Royally Screwed and Charged were both great reads, so I am sure they are awesome on audible!

    1. Thanks Samantha! I really loved Royally Screwed. I was surprised at how invested I got... even getting teary at one point! Haven't read Charged yet but I can't wait for more Crownover in my life. :)

  9. I’m glad you had a fun Thanksgiving, even if it was exhausting. I shopped online on Black Friday. No way was I going to leave the house. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks AJ. Glad to know I'm not the only one who avoids the crazy people on Black Friday. LOL

  10. It sounds like you were super busy this holiday, but it's always nice to see family isn't it? Black Friday is creeping into our lives more and more in Australia, I refused to leave the house (apparently it was crazy), but I did venture online for a few things :)

I hope you enjoy all those audio titles!

    1. All the busy-ness was worth it to spend the day with family. Ugh, for all the things to creep over it had to be Black Friday. Sorry about that. LOL I much prefer online shopping.

  11. CONGRATS ON HOSTING YOUR FIRST THANKSGIVING! I want to host one day but I don't want to be responsible for the turkey - I am trash at cooking meat!

Great audible haul - I saw they added a few more to the list this morning! :)

    1. Thanks Amber! :) I was so nervous about the turkey. My mom told me to use one of the oven cooking bags and that would make it practically fail-proof. And she was right!

  12. yay :D that sounds like you had a fun holiday, a bit stressful but fun?
I don't care for Black Friday sales tbh. I bought some clothes for my nieces and my son online, but I don't feel like these sales are anything better than what they will have for the next month so whatever XD

    1. I so agree, Lily. There are *always* sales so I don't see any reason to face the crowds and the traffic and parking and rude people just for a sale. There will be sales between now and Christmas or I can shop online.

  13. Wow! You did have a busy week but I'm happy everything turned out well and you enjoyed family time! My older daughter was home for the holiday, my two younger kids were out the entire week, and my husband took the week off as well - it was nice having everyone under the same roof for a few days. We did REI's #OptOutside challenge and hiked on Black Friday rather than shopped. It was awesome.
I hope you're having a great week, Tanya!
