This week's Top 5 Wednesday topic:
Nostalgic Book Boyfriends
Let's travel back in time and visit a few of my favorite
book boyfriends from years past. :)

Jamie Fraser | Outlander series

It's been more than 15 years since I read Outlander but I remember being instantly smitten with one James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. Tall, intelligent, charming, protective, and a natural-born leader, Jamie was easy to swoon over.

Marcus Flutie | Jessica Darling Series

Marcus was the quintessential (former) bad boy. Intelligent, critical of the world around him, Marcus was often a total enigma. But his charm and charisma made it impossible not to fall for him.

Michael Skye | Sooner or Later

A gorgeous teenage singer/musician who was destined for the big time? What's not to love? Sooner or Later (and its two follow-up novels) were books that I read over and over (and over) in the early 80's. When the first book was adapted into a made-for-TV movie (starring Rex Smith - anyone remember him?) I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. :)

Edward Cullen | Twilight

Yep, I was all about Edward Cullen when I read Twilight a decade or so ago. And you won't find me bashing the books now. No, of course they're not perfect, but at the time I was totally entertained and Edward was a swoony character.

Jace | The Mortal Instruments series

I was always a fan of Jace. Cocky and witty and so full of himself, but inwardly struggling with his past - yeah, another textbook bad boy. I loved his snarky banter and he had some seriously swoony lines throughout the series. I just have to pretend the movie never happened since that came close to ruining everything I loved about the books. LOL

Who's your favorite nostalgic book boyfriend?

  1. oh I'm surprised not to see mr. D. Black here! :) [I'm reading it again!] I acutally loved Twilight! The whole Gothic atmosphere. But I do roll my eyes and mentioned the sparkling vamps very often. I could have been more than fine if that never made it to the books! LOL I liked Edward but I was definitely Team Jacob. I do loved my werewolf a lot more than the vamps. :)

    1. I know, right?! But since the theme was "nostalgic" I decided I hadn't known Daemon long enough to count (it's *only* been 5 years LOL). Plus he's still very much a current book boyfriend. :)

Oh no, not Team Jacob! LOL I always wished for him to just go away and leave Edward and Bella alone. Haha.

    1. Such a fun, entertaining series. I've seen some people say it should have ended after book 3 but I enjoyed the whole series.

  4. I only ever read the first Jessica Darling book, but I want to go back and re-read that and then possibly continue. I thought the first one was fun! Hmm...an old book boyfriend. One would be Guy from the book Willow by Julia Hoban.

    1. I think if the Jessica Darling books came out now they would be huge. The YA market 16 years ago just wasn't what it is now. The whole series was so smart and clever... definitely worth reading.

  5. I really want to read the Jessica Darling books. I know! I am so late to the game, but they keep popping up, so I need to read them. Jace, huh? Broody, bad boy. Classic.

    1. Yeah, I do have a thing for the broody ones. LOL

The Jessica Darling series is truly a stand-out. It deserves so much more attention, even if it is older.

  6. Very nice list! I share Jamie Fraser with you. I'm doing a re-read of the series on audio even now. My YA book boyfriend was Damien Black. :)

    1. What a great idea to do the reread on audio! I might have to check that out. Will have to listen to a sample to see how Jamie sounds first. LOL

  7. I really do need to start the Outlander books! Snarky bad boys make the best book boyfriends I think :) it's no fun if they're perfect!

  9. AHH my favorite nostalgic book boyfriend is Peeta Mellark, of course! Adore him. The only one of these I have read is TMI, and Jace... well I won't lie, he isn't my fave, but that's okay :D Great list!

    1. As if I had to ask. :) Peeta is such a total sweetheart. I have never understood those strange, confused "Team Gale" people. What is wrong with them?!
