The Sunday Post #89

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Is everyone still in frozen mode or have you thawed out this week? It's been crazy cold here in my part of Florida! A couple days stayed in the 30's and while that may seem like nothing to some of you... that's like end-of-the-world cold to most Floridians. LOL I'm actually loving it while it lasts but believe me when I tell you I'm in the minority.

  • The Husband and I went to see comedian Jim Gaffigan last week and had such a great evening. If you're not familiar with Jim Gaffigan here's one of his classic bits. :)

  • In less fun news, I had a dental appointment on Thursday. A deep cleaning. Because regular cleanings just aren't fun enough. The best part? I get to go back for part two in a couple weeks. Yay!

  • In the mood for a quiz? Click here and find out how long you would last in a YA fantasy novel. As for me? According to Epic Reads, I'd be the first to go. Somehow I am not surprised. :) If you took the quiz, what were your results? Bet you fared better than me!

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:
I Never - Laura Hopper

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING

What Happened (Audio) - Hillary Rodham Clinton
Say You'll Remember Me - Katie McGarry

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
Meet Cute - Jennifer Armentrout (Anthology)

eARCS FOR REVIEW:
Say You'll Remember Me - Katie McGarry

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. I've heard that the weather's been nuts in the US! This time a year, we normally have loads of snow, but apparently it's not stuck in America, lol, cause we're basically having warm autumn weather :D

I don't even need to take the quiz to know I'd be gone first in a YA fantasy novel :D :D I'm a weakling!

    Happy reading this week :)

    1. It really has been crazy! I live in Florida and even parts of Florida has had snow this past week. Not the norm! I think a lot of people here would be jealous of your warmer weather right now. :)

Ha! Guess we would go out together in the YA fantasy.

  2. Two of my teachers are now absent because they're stuck in the states (because they went there for vacation) XD. So I totally feel you about the weather. Your so random is so cute btw! Loved it.

    Have a great week!

    1. Oh wow, that's terrible getting trapped on vacation and not being able to get home as planned.

  3. This cold is awful. I woke up today to -2 on my phone with a feel like -11. No thank you. Jim Gaffigan is a favorite of my husband and I. We have seen him before and seen his specials and TV show. So funny. Hope you have a great week and happy reading!

    1. -2?! Oh my goodness, I cannot even fathom that kind of cold. Gaffigan is so great. We saw him a year or so ago at a local university but this was a huge arena and it was fun with the big crowd.

  5. I have to tell you, I was excited to hear we would have weather in the 30s this week, because it's been below zero with the wind chill in NJ and my four block walk to the bus stop has been feeling like 4 miles. I need to find a place where the temperature is between 50 and 80 all year long. And no hurricanes or earthquakes or any other sorts of disasters. Does this place exist? I have not been to a comedy show in a while. They are always so fun and Gaffigan is a riot. Glad you had a good time, but I am sorry about your deep cleaning. I have heard they are tough.

    1. Okay, as much as I love cold weather (well, cold Florida weather LOL), I would not want to face a 4 block walk to and from a bus stop in that weather. Plus waiting for the bus to come. Sounds rather miserable. Temps between 50 and 80 all year and no hurricanes or earthquakes... Hawaii here we come! LOL Of course there are volcanoes but that seems to be a rare occurrence. I'll meet you there. :)

  6. You're so lucky to see Jeff the comedian. I have only saw amateur comedians in the twin cities and one who did a guest appearance on my blog.I'm hoping to try open mic myself one day. #sundaypost theglobaldig.blogspot.com

    1. Gaffigan was a lot of fun and it was great to see him in such a big arena. That's awesome that you plan on taking part in an open mic night yourself!

  7. Our families in Florida has been on Facebook complaining about all the cold. lol... I remember when we used to get all freaked out over 50's down there. Now that is like Summer weather. ;) Enjoy the cooler weather before it's get hot again down there.

You got some really great books this week. Happy reading. Thanks for popping by earlier.

    1. Exactly. For as much as people are freaking out about the cold right now, *I'll* be the one complaining when it gets hot. Me + heat just don't mix. Ugh.

  8. We're about to get 40 degrees this week and I am estatic! I may even get ice cream, tell about a heat wave. Haha.

The comedy show looks like fun, I'm somewhat familiar with his work, my husband likes to play his Disney bit.

I took that quiz and made it to the end! I think it was because so opted out of having a love interest.

    1. A 40 degree heatwave. Bahahaha!
Oh my gosh, I was just watching the Disney clip on YouTube yesterday. So funny.
Whoa, you made it to the end! Go you! :)

  9. I almost bought Jim Gaffigan's book a while back but never did, maybe I should! And I hope it warms up for you soon! We've been in a deep freeze too and I'm kinda tired of it. :)

Meet Cute and Say You'll Remember Me both look good.

    1. I've seen him live twice now but have actually never read one of his books. I should check my library for audio versions because it's his delivery that gets me. :)

  10. It's been cold enough in Virginia that our lake is frozen and so are portions of the tidal Potomac River. It was 7°F this morning, and it's still barely 20° out there (at 1:15 pm.) They say it will warm up to 40° tomorrow, but it's also going to rain. Cold rain, ugh.

According to the quiz, I'd make it to the end, but everyone else dies. Not so good... while I love to read about fantasy worlds, I'm happy to live in this one. For modern plumbing, public libraries, and decent medical care, if nothing else.

    1. I'm with you there. Fantasy worlds or time travel to the past may be fun to read, but I really need my modern convenience. Central heat and air being at the top of the list. :)

  11. We have sleet and ice today....so I'm not leaving the house whatsoever even though I need a few things from the store. I've had What Happened on my radar so I will be looking forward to your thoughts on that one. Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. Sleet and ice... yeah, that would definitely be an indoor day for me. (Especially since I don't know how to drive in those conditions!) I'm finding What Happened fascinating so far.

  12. Oh my FL friends have been freaking out!! In Florida's defense, it so rarely gets this cold there! Its been sub 0 here in Ohio and I'm over it. Happy reading!

    1. True. Not only does it not often get this cold, but it's rarely for an extended period. Just a random day here and there. This is different. I don't envy you those temps! And I imagine your Spring is a long ways off!

  14. Ahh I'm sure it was so fun seeing Jim Gaffigan! The whether has been completely out of control even here in South Carolina. lol I can't wait for it to warm up just little.

    1. I saw an Instagram video from a friend in Charleston and it was crazy! Her entire car was covered with snow (a lot of snow!), her door was iced over. So bizarre to see that in SC. Hope this week is a little better!

  15. I was freezing last couple of weeks. I actually don't remember it getting too cold here in TX like that, but I might be getting a little wimpier LOL.

Hope you have a warm and great week! ~Aleen

  16. Gah, I hope the weather isn't TOO bad for y'all. Here in the Philippines, we're quickly returning to our melting weathers, but I'm used to it. And I'm heading to the dentist on Thursday, too... ALSO for the second time this month. BOO. :/

  17. Cool- I'm the first casualty as well. I wouldn't want to live that long in a YA fantasy book anyway :)

  18. Hahaha I was not familiar with Jim Gaffigan but he's pretty funny! Sounds like a good time. Yeah we've had the cold here too - 20s is a lot in Dallas as well - and I'm not in the minority when I say I HATE it. I'm a warm weather girl all the way. Fun little quiz at Epic Reads - thanks for sharing! I apparently would make it to the end, but everyone around me would die. So not a HEA!
    Hope you're having a great week :)

    1. It's actually warmed up here this week so I hope it's done the same for you in Dallas! Kudos for making it to the end of the fantasy book (in the quiz) but if you're the only one left... yeah, that kinda blows. LOL

  19. I was freezing but then now it feels like I’m in Fl [by comparison] the last two days hadn’t been bad at all! I was so shocked to see pictures of snow in FL!
Glad to hear you had a good time with hubby :)
HAHA funny I took that quiz too and got the same result even though I entered all the sassy responses :)

  20. Yay, Tanya, i’m in the dentist right now, having a regular cleaning with my husband. It should have been last month but due to the busy schedules we just got the time now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your books and have a wonderful week. Happy reading. ❤️😁
