The Sunday Post #104

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Vacation is just a week away and I am counting the hours days. I'm so (past) ready for some down time and lazy days spent reading poolside is just what I need.

  • There was a 10% chance of rain yesterday and yet it rained All. Day. Long. I'm thinking they left a zero off that percentage. I'm trying to get all my errands run early today so I can get home before the rain starts again. A rainy afternoon spent at home reading sounds perfect!

WHAT I FINISHED IN THE LAST WEEK:

The Ones Who Got Away (The Ones Who Got Away #1) - Roni Loren
Juniper Skies - Lora Richardson

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING
The One You Can't Forget (The Ones Who Got Away #2) - Roni Loren

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO
Check out the cringey cover! LOL I'm enjoying the story but the narration is just not working for me. I may have to switch to the Kindle version before the narrator annoys me to death.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
Alphas Like Us (Like Us #3) - Krista & Becca Ritchie
Now that I have the first three books in the Like Us series, it's time to have a binge read.

KINDLE BOOKS:
A Boy Like You - Ginger Scott
This one has been on my TBR for quite a while so I snagged it when it went on sale this week.

eARCs FOR REVIEW:
Juniper Skies - Lora Richardson
I loved returning to the small town of Juniper.

WON:
Remembering Ivy - Claire Kingsley
I won this from a giveaway on my friend's Facebook group, Carol's Crazy Bookish World. It's such a friendly bunch of book lovers. If you're looking for a new romance-based group to join, this is a great one!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Bummer about the rain! That sucks! Sorry the narrator for the Illona Andrews book sucks. I hate when that happens. I had to bail on the audio of Midnight Rescue by Elle Kennedy because I couldn't stand the narrator. Luckily I had the ebook!
Hope you have a good week!

    1. Oh man, bad narration can totally ruin the experience. Thankfully it hasn't happened to many often but this one by Ilona Andrews... I don't know. I was hoping to listen to the whole series on audio instead of reading but that probably won't happen. Time for the ebook! :)

  2. You are making me feel like a slacker. I have had that second Roni Loren book for quite a while, but still haven't read it. I've had a boy like you since last year, also unread. I am trash! I am so jealous of people, who go on vacation. I haven't been on one in years, because of the kid. =/ I hope after she is working for a while, that we can go on one.

    1. Um, at the rate you read you are *not* the slacker. LOL I got approved for the ARC of the second Loren book but never got a notification. I found out by sheer accident when I was browsing Edelweiss recently. I already had the paperback of the first book, so I quickly moved both to the top of the TBR. If I hadn't gotten that ARC, that first book would have probably sat around for ages. And who knows when I'll actually get to the Ginger Scott book. On the vacation front, we always take one every year - and try to take a second it time allows. The "kids" (Robert's kids) are all grown adults with kids of their own. I hope you get one soon... maybe next year?

  3. I did not listen to Burn for Me, but love the narrator. I am sorry it isn't working. I haven't listened to any of this series though. Our day unexpectedly had the Royals here all day. Momma was sick. I am tired. LOL I hope your week is wonderful. Happy reading!

    1. I guess narrators are just like books in that way - not every one is going to work for every person. And there's something out there for everyone. :)

  4. That is one of the positives of bad weather - you can stay inside and read!

  5. Vacation time! Man I could use some poolside weather. I hope you have a wonderful time! I hope you are enjoying The One You Can't Forget! I have that coming up on my reading schedule soon and cannot wait! I loved the first one.

    1. It's been hitting 80 degrees here off and on for a couple weeks. I'm guessing you're not in the South. :) I just read The One Who Away a week or so ago and really enjoyed it. I just started The One You Can't Forget yesterday morning and I'm already loving Wes and and Rebecca!

  6. Lol about the rain. Right? Just when I think the meteorologists have that weather forecasting model about worked out, something like that happens. :) Yay for vacation though! I always have such a hard time the week before a vacation, like will I get sick right before we leave or something like that? Basically useless worrying ha ha. Anyway hope you have a great one!

That Nerd Girl Problem cracks me up! So true...

    1. The Nerd Girl Problem is so true! I avoid spoilers online like crazy and then when I'm reading I let my eyes wander and end up spoiling myself. LOL

  7. Enjoy your vacation! Rain is a perfect excuse to stay inside and read, but it sucks if you need to get stuff done outside of the house. Have a great week!

  8. Haha about the rain! I swear, they just need to give up predicting the weather, because Mother Nature has been making fools of them lately :)

Enjoy your vacation. Super jealous, I need one right now too! Have a great week!

  9. Aw, sorry about the rain. It's raining today and it doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon. Sigh. I wish I could just spend the day reading - that sounds nice. Yay for vacation coming up!! I hope you have a great time. I still need to read the Like Us series too; I don't own any of them, but they sound great.

    1. We actually just revised our vacation plans so we’re leaving a couple days earlier than planned. Bonus! :) I adore Krista & Becca Ritchie and their Addicted/Calloway series is my favorite contemporary series. I’m excited to start the Like Us books!

  11. Yay for vacations! Boo for rain! We've been getting a lot of rain over here.

Sorry about that narrator on that audiobook. LOL. Hope that you're at least enjoying the story. I tried a book by that author, but I wasn't a major fan.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks Aleen! I'm torn on whether it's *only* the narrator or also the story itself. I went ahead and put the ebook on hold through Overdrive because I really can't take the audio version any more, I guess I'll give the ebook a try and if I'm not loving that then I'm done. Fun to try new authors... but sometimes it just doesn't work out. *sigh*

  12. The Hidden Legacy series is one of my FAVORITES. I listened to them all on audio and enjoyed them, but I remember having to get used to how the narrator read things. It was different, but it grew on me. I hope you end up liking the series as much as I did! I believe the author just mentioned the newest addition!!

    1. Ugh, I have tried and tried, Lindsi, but I think I'm giving up on the audio. I put the ebook on hold so maybe that will help. I see that the same narrator seems to read ALL of Ilona's books so if I'm going to continue the series it will definitely be reading not listening. Hopefully I'll actually like the characters if I'm doing my own voices in my head. LOL

  13. I'm sure you're counting down the hours to vacation. I was in San Diego last week for a girls' getaway and it was nice...although it was colder than I was anticipating. :/ You had a good reading/book haul week. I'm kinda envious. But I'm hoping you got some reading indoors while it was raining outdoors time in!

    1. Your girls getaway sounds awesome Brandee! I bet you had a blast, even with the cooler than expected temps. :) I definitely got my reading time in this past weekend. So thank you, Mother Nature! LOL

  14. Yay for vacation almost being here! Ha! We have your rain now. We're currently on hour 12 of solid rain with another 14 in the forecast. SO much rain!

::snort:: the covers for the Andrews series really are awful. Hope the kindle version works better for you!

    1. Whoa, that's a lot of rain! But living where you do I guess it's nothing new for you. :) And yeah, the covers for this series are sooo bad. LOL It's like, who okay'd this cover? LOL
