The Sunday Post | February 14, 2021

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
Happy Sunday, friends. I'm in the midst of a four-day weekend so life is good. :) I'm actually a little bummed because it was supposed to rain All. Day. Long. today (it's Saturday evening as I write this) and it didn't happen. A few random raindrops here and there but otherwise... nada. I feel cheated! I want my dreary, gloomy, rainy day! Better luck tomorrow...

Both The Husband and my mom have had their second doses of the COVID vaccine. I have such a major feeling of relief - and gratitude - that they are taken care of and are now that much safer. Neither of them had significant side effects with either dose. A sore arm both times - the same as with any other vaccination - and that was it.

We ordered new furniture this weekend (living room and dining room) and I'm excited about redecorating. The orders probably won't be in until sometime in April, but I'm already scouring  my home décor boards on Pinterest, browsing online for new rugs, and generally getting itchy for new decorating projects. I'll totally be in my happy zone when the time comes to start pulling it all together.

This week's 80's music fix is Two of Hearts (1968) by Stacey Q. Bonus points if you remember her guest-starring on Facts of Life! :)

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK

Read:
This one floored me. My favorite by Yarros to date. And it will, without a doubt, be among my favorites of the year. Oh, and my first 5-star read of the year.

Listened to:
I knew very little about this one when I borrowed it from Hoopla but it ended up being a solid read. It was surprisingly heavy at times (dealing a lot with grief) and there were some tricky family dynamics, while also focusing on two people who were so accepting of one another.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING

Reading:
At 100 pages in, I still feel like I'm struggling a bit to connect with the main characters, but I am enjoying it. I'm really curious to know more about Will's background, though.

Listening:
I picked this one up after a Booktuber's recommendation. It's an age-gap romance and I'm pretty impressed with the the way it's being handled. There's nothing salacious about it, and I like the way the author has both characters really examining their decisions and the possible outcomes before they act.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. The cover for Love at First is so eye-catching. I'm sure that's what drew me in to even read the synopsis.

  2. Have fun redecorating! Can't wait to see the finished product. So glad to hear your mom and husband didn't suffer any side-affects. My brother-in-law was ill a few days after the second dose. I hope it goes better for the rest of my family. OMG, Stacy Q! I feel like that was another roller rink song for me. I am about halfway through The Wedding Game and it's been lots of fun. Hope you enjoy it too!

  3. I am happy your husband and mom are now protected! And I loved The Things we Leave Unfinished. Now I am listening to The Four Winds and I don't know if I will finish it because it's so depressing.

  5. Glad your family members didn't have any ill side effects! That is awesome. And as soon as I saw that song, before I even played, I started singing it in my head. Haven't heard it in forever!

  6. It is such a relief to have the 2nd doses done! Glad to hear they didn't suffer much with side effects. I feel cheated when it doesn't rain when it's predicted, too. We got a lot of rain in Central and Northern California. Yes, I was at both of those places this weekend, lol! I'm not sure about at my house, though.

  7. Wahoo on their second doses! Even though I have 2 autoimmune diseases that make Covid more dangerous for me, I won't be getting a vaccine until April or May. My state is doing it by age only.

    1. Ugh, that's terrible that you have to wait even with pre-existing conditions. Seems like exceptions would be made for that.

  11. I'm so glad you are able to get relief with them being vaccinated. I hope we can get ours sooner than later. I'm happy for you with the 4 day weekends. All the days seem the same here being home and working on stuff whenever we can. I have to consciously plan to take any kind of break for myself. Enjoy your new reads!

    1. We were talking about how normally we might go away somewhere for the 4 day weekend but as it is... it's just 4 more days at home. As usual. LOL But it's still great to have the break from work. :)

  18. I struggled with the first Clayborn so I haven't attempted this one yet.

I'm reading You Had Me at Hola and it's very cute so far. But I'm taking FOREVER to read anything these days.

Glad they got their first shots. I wish the whole thing would go faster but at least it's going.

    1. Yeah, I don't know if Clayborn's writing just isn't for me, or what. But I've set it aside for now so I could move on to a review book. Which I'm flying through. :)
