The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
I've received my first dose of the COVID vaccine. The feelings of gratitude and relief were overwhelming. And I'm beyond thankful for my boss's wife, the one who gave me the heads-up. Currently my state is only offering the vaccine to those 65 and up, as well as front-line healthcare workers. But my boss's wife was kind enough to let me know that the Florida National Guard base (only 20 miles away) was offering the vaccine to military retirees and their families. And that meant I was eligible. (The Husband is retired Navy and has already received both doses.) My appointment is already set for the second dose and other than a sore arm for a couple days (as with any other vaccine) I had no side effects. This really doesn't change my habits at all (I'm still staying at home) but I'm just so relieved and thankful.
The HVAC issue I mentioned last week has been repaired. And for a bit less than anticipated. Three figures instead of four figures... so that felt like a small win. :)
My mom's birthday was on Friday and we had a small three-person party. It was kind of a milestone because the last time me, my mom, and my sisters all got together was on her birthday last year. We met for lunch, went shopping... and three or four days later we were in lockdown and everything changed. So this year's celebration was different but still fun. We ordered pizza, I'd ordered her a signed book, and we had a fancy cake. She really enjoyed it.
This week's 80's music fix is Out of Touch (1984) from Hall & Oates. They weren't a band I paid a lot of attention to at the time, but looking back they had several songs that I liked a lot.

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING
READING:
In last week's TTT post, I shared several books that I wanted to read that have been languishing (for years) on my Kindle. Deanna @ A Novel Glimpse left a comment that not only told me which ones I needed to prioritize, but also listed the order in which I needed to read them. LOL Well, game on, Deanna! :) I started Bright Side yesterday and I'm only about 15% in but I'm enjoying it so far.

eARC FOR REVIEW:
This is one of my most highly anticipated releases this year so I was pretty surprised shocked when Atria sent me an ARC. It doesn't release until November but I'm sure I'll be diving into it long before that.
Happy Birthday to your mom! It's nice that you were able to get together. And yeah for getting your first dose. I got the widget for the Graves book, but I am not sure if I will click or not. hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteTracey is one I consider a favorite so I'm super excited for her latest. We semi kept in touch since meeting years ago. When I entered her IG giveaway for a copy of this one she DM'd and said "why are you entering? I've already sent your info to the publisher for an arc." Uh, okay... had no idea, but thanks! LOL
DeleteThat's awesome that you were able to get your first dose! My stepfather finally got his, but they wouldn't let my mom, who's not 65 yet. Happy birthday to your mom! Glad you were able to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela. I was so, so thankful to be vaccinated. I hope your mom is able to get hers soon!
DeleteI am so glad that you had your first dose of the COVID vaccine without a hitch. I hope the second one goes as well too. And happy birthday to your mom!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was such a relief to get the first dose... and I'll be even happier after the second. :)
DeleteHappy birthday to your mom, and congrats on getting your vaccine! I’m still trying to figure out when I can get mine. I’m a government employee, but I can’t figure out if I’m considered an “essential” government employee. Nobody seems to know.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Isn't it crazy how convoluted it is? This group is eligible, this group isn't. You're a government employee, but maybe not essential... gah! I hope you get some answers soon and can get the vaccine.
DeleteCongrats on the vaccine! That is great news. And I'm glad the HVAC wasn't as costly as you anticipated. Those unexpected bills are the worst.
ReplyDeleteThanks Samantha! And yes, the AC repair being a bit less than expected was such a relief!
DeleteI'm bossy like that. ;) Hopefully you will feel the same about Bright Side as I did.
ReplyDeleteHall and Oates is a favorite at our house, so loved seeing that song today! And yay for vaccines!
LOL But it's the good kind of bossy. :)
DeleteI'm about halfway through Bright Side. And worried that I'll be the first person ever not to love it. Don't you feel extra pressure to love a book when it's been highly recommended??
Hey, don't feel pressured to love it. I have to admit that when I first started it, I wondered what everyone was raving about. Maybe it will hit you toward the end, maybe not. I won't be upset if it wasn't a favorite.
DeleteWha ha ha! Loved your photo on the yoghurt. Funny!! Glad to hear you got your vaccine.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!

Thanks Elza!
DeleteI am so happy for you that you got the first dose of vaccine! My om (80) will get her first tomorrow. Me? No idea!
ReplyDeleteI hope your mom has no issues with the vaccine. And I hope you will be able to get yours soon, Sophie!
DeleteThat’s great news on the vaccine, I’m so pleased you got it, it must be a great relief. I think I’m still a few months away from getting mine but it’s such a sense of relief when you know your loved ones are vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Heather. I think I was more excited that my husband and mother got vaccinated than I was for myself.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to get vaccinated. The FEMA clinics are doing many people every day and it's easier to get appts. My brother told me there are 4 in FL. There's one here in NC and our group is eligible Mar 17th and I was able to get appt for that day. Once we are vaccinated I will feel more comfortable about having medical appts we have avoided. I plan to read The Intimacy Experiment as I enjoyed the first book.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I'm so happy for you that you have your appointment, Anne! My habits will not change now that I've had mine (first dose) but it's still a great relief.
DeleteOoh congrats on the vacc! I'm struggling with my mom over it (she's high risk and really ought to get it but is balking) and I'm not sure when we're eligible, but soonish I think. I can only imagine how comforting it must be to have protection.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your mom! :)
Love that song!
That's too bad about your mom not wanting to get the vaccine. The more people who get vaccinated, the better it is for all of us. I hope you're able to get yours soon!
DeleteYay on getting your first dose of the vaccine! I'm probably still a couple of months away from getting my own shot, but I have to admit I get a little giddy every time I hear someone I know has gotten theirs and is now protected. Happy Birthday to your mom. I'm glad you were able to get together with her and that she had a nice time. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne. I feel the same! I'm thrilled for anyone who gets vaccinated. It's good for all of us!
DeleteGlad you got the vaccine! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog
I'm thrilled you got your vaccine! I'm so happy for everyone getting theirs. PA has been a bit of a mess so no idea when we will be eligible. I'm glad you got to have a nice party with your mom! Hope she had fun!
ReplyDeleteI was prepared to wait for months before this opportunity opened up. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd get it before summer. I hope things start working smoother there so more people can get vaccinated.
DeleteYay for getting the first dose of the vaccine! So many of my friends and family have already gotten their shots, including my husband, and I'm counting down until they open it to those with pre-existing health conditions. My doctor thinks I should be able to get one in the next month or two at the latest. And yay for having the hvac repaired for less then planned, that's always a wonderful feeling!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Thanks Jen! I hope you're able to get the vaccine soon, too. The more who get it, the better it is for all of us, right?
DeleteSo glad the vaccine has given you some peace of mind and that the HVAC issue didn't cost as much as you'd anticipated! I can't wait to read The Intimacy Experiment and Graves new book. Congrats on getting picked for the arc!
ReplyDeleteThanks Alison! The Intimacy was fun (even better than I expected). And I am thrilled about the new one by Tracey Garvis Graves!
DeleteYay for getting your vaccine! That's awesome! My state is so far behind so I imagine it will be the middle of summer before anything is offered to me. My mom did finally receive her first shot so that is a step in the right direction. I am glad you were able to get your HVAC fixed for less than you expected. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't have to wait that long, Carole. I saw last week that Biden ordered anther huge batch of vaccines so maybe that will help speed up the process.
DeleteI'm so glad you were able to get the vaccine. In KY, I was able to get the first dose about a week ago too so I'll get the second at the end of the month. It really is a bit of a relief, though I'm still being careful. I had Covid so technically I'm still in the time period where I should have antibodies, but still! It's a nice feeling. I'm glad you didn't really have any side effects.

That's great, Lauren! Yes, getting the vaccine hasn't changed my habits at all, but it's still quite a relief.
