The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
It was a busy week at the office but generally uneventful. I can handle that.
My brother-in-law who broke his hip is back in the hospital. He now has pneumonia. Poor guy can't get a break (uh, no pun intended).
Yesterday The Husband and I tried to go to the used bookstore (it's enormous and is a local landmark). I haven't been since before Covid. Unfortunately, when we got there the parking lot was packed so I didn't even try to go in. Sad face. I'm thinking I'll take a day off soon and go again mid-week when it shouldn't be busy.
We ordered a new mattress for the bed in the guest room. On the rare occasion I ever have to sleep on it I always feel sorry for every guest we've ever had. LOL We ordered it yesterday and it will be delivered tomorrow so that's pretty impressive. Everything seems to have slowed down since Covid (we waited over two months for our living room/dining room furniture earlier this year) but apparently mattresses can still be had.
This week's 80's music fix is Don't Change (1982) by INXS. This was always my favorite from the band. Enjoy!

Magic in the Wind by Christine Feehan - ★★
The Bitterroot Inn by Devney Perry - ★★★★
Ever After Always by Chloe Liese - ★★★.5
The Candle Palace by Devney Perry - ★★★★
I'm continuing in my quest to complete all the series that I've started and then let linger. Devney Perry's Tin Gypsy series wraps up with the final book being released this coming week. Perfect time to dive back into the series and get caught up. And on audio, I'm continuing the Brooklyn Bruisers series. I feel like I could read about the team, the staff, and all the other characters in the series forever. :)
Riven Knight (Tin Gypsy #2) by Devney Perry
Hard Hitter (Brooklyn Bruisers #2) by Sarina Bowen
PHYSICAL BOOKS
The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn
I was so excited for this one that I pre-ordered the paperback, something I very rarely do.
Can't wait to dive in (probably next week).
KINDLE BOOKS
Because it's Kennedy Ryan and I won't rest until I've read everything she's written. :)
Loving You Always by Kennedy Ryan
Be Mine Forever by Kennedy Ryan
Until I'm Yours by Kennedy Ryan
LIBRARY LOAN
Jay's Gay Agenda by Jason June
As soon as this one came on my radar I knew I wanted to read it. It took my library a while to get it, but it finally came in and I was able to pick it up yesterday. So excited for it.
Oh, yeah! Your loan came in. I hope you love Jay as much as I did. I read the first two Bennett books. I liked them. I hope they can get your BIL back to good health. Poor guy.
ReplyDeleteI have such high hopes for it! And for the Bennett series, too. Kennedy Ryan hasn't disappointed me yet.
DeleteOh, your poor BIL! I hope he is on the mend soon.
ReplyDeleteI would totally take a day off work to visit a bookstore!
I haven't even planned which day yet but I'm already looking forward to it. LOL
DeleteI feel so bad for your brother-in-law! He really can't catch a break! Covid has slowed down so much that's not even funny. And now USPS said it will be slowing down even more in October.
ReplyDeleteOh geez, I hadn't heard that about USPS. Yet another Covid impact.
DeleteOh your poor brother in law! That is tough! And that meme is so me-I can't remember anything when people ask!
ReplyDeleteI know, I feel so bad for the guy.
DeleteOh no I'm sorry t ohear about your BIL. I hope he does catch a break soon! Well, not a BREAK break, but you know. Some good luck. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I went to a used bookstore on Friday and spent over $70 buying a bunch of old sci fi books. Eerk.
Don't Change is like my favorite song.
Whoa, that was an awesome bookstore haul! Way to go. :)
DeleteI always enjoy reading your Sunday post and what's going on with you. I hope your BIL is better soon. We still don't go out unless it's necessary and I would have turned around to go mid week too. That's wonderful how you are catching up on series. You seem to always be updating something in your home, which is easier than having to do it all at once later.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Aw, thanks Anne. What a kind thing to say. :)
DeleteYeah, seeing that packed parking lot was an instant change on plans. Mid-week I'm sure it will be much better. Good reason to take a day of PTO. :)
I so want to read Jay's Gay agenda! I have heard amazing things about it! Now, poor brother in law! I hope he'll get better very soon Tanya. And taking a day off to go to the bookstore is..bliss :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sophie! A day off spent at a bookstore... yes, please! :)
DeleteIf I had a guest room I would definitely feel bad if the mattress wasn't that great either. Thats too bad about the bookstore, maybe check google at the slow periods of the day for it, and then go in during the slower moments. I hope you enjoy those current reads, I love that hockey series of Sarina Bowen. SO SO Good!
ReplyDeleteSarina Bowen is just the best! I've read so many by her and have never been disappointed. She has a way of writing characters that makes me feel like I know them and could be friends with these people. :)
DeleteLove that cover for Highland Fling. Enjoy ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm excited for that one.
DeleteYour BIL just can't catch a break! Hope he recovers quickly. I bought both the e-copy and audio of Riven Knight after reading about the hero in Tragic. Want his story! I just need to carve out some time. I also got a copy of The Highland Fling and can't wait.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I didn't know there was a cross-over between the Tin Gypsy series and the Lark Cove series. Interesting. I still don't know much about Isaiah's background but I'm sure it's going to hurt my heart. He seems like such a sweetheart but seems to be eaten up with guilt.
DeleteIt really is amazing how much things have slowed down because of the pandemic. We just ordered a new couch and were told it might be January before we get it. Blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteJanuary?! Oh my goodness. I thought waiting 2-2.5 months for our furniture was a pain but that takes the cake. I hope you get it before then, Suzanne.
DeleteThat's great about the mattress and I know just what you mean. I had to sleep on our guest bedroom mattress for a few nights and I feel like I need to write everyone I know apology letters. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteLOL Glad to know I'm not the only one, Katherine! :) Thankfully the new mattress will be delivered in the next hour or so, so no more apologizing to overnight guests. Ha!
DeleteI'm glad work was easy, but sorry for your BIL. Hopefully he gets better quickly. I think buying the paperback for The Highland Fling is totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear, Deanna! I hope to start it next week (fingers crossed).
DeleteSo sorry about your brother-in-law and not being able to visit the bookstore. But that's great about the mattress! I love the cover of The Bitter Root Inn! I'll have to look that one up.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Bitterroot Inn. And the cover is gorgeous! Actually, the whole series has pretty covers. I have the older versions. I think they've been released with new covers which are very pretty, but I do like the older ones better.
DeleteYour poor brother in law! I hope he gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteJay's Gay Agenda is one that I really want to read; I hope you love it!

Thanks Lauren! I think he gets released from the hospital today so that's encouraging.
DeleteYes, everything seems to take forever to get these days, but I experienced the same thing with getting a mattress quickly. We ordered a new one for my daughter at the end of July when we were getting her into her new room, and it took less than a couple weeks to get here. I am sooo looking forward to The Highland Fling!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy that mattresses of all things are readily available. But nice for us!
DeleteFingers crossed we both love The Highland Fling!
I won't go in anywhere that's crowded for many reasons lol
ReplyDeleteYay for something that isn't backordered for a year!
Karen @For What It's Worth
Right? I've grown accustomed to every supply chain being affected so hearing that something would be delivered in 48 hours left me speechless. :)
Deletethe meme made me laugh really loud. thanks for that. also new beds are fun to have but are not fun to get used to.
ReplyDeletemy post: https://blessedmommysc.blogspot.com/2021/09/a-rough-week-late-af-sunday-post-8.html
Yeah, the new bed in the guest room may not be a keeper after all. I slept on it last night and it was awful! Might have to return it for something else. Ugh!
DeleteYay for getting a new mattress and here's hoping you can sneak in mid week to that book store! Can't wait to hear what you get! And I totally laughed out loud at that meme ha!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Unfortunately the new mattress is not thrilling me. It's only for the guest room but even so, it's hard as a board. We're going to see about exchanging it hopefully.
DeleteOh no! If they don't let you exchange it, maybe you could get a mattress foam topper♥.
DeleteGood idea, Jen! Thankfully we were able to return/exchange since we were well within 30 days from purchase. We have to pay the difference in price and a restocking fee, but the new (and hopefully better!) mattress will be here Friday! :)
