Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Places I Love to Read About
This week's topic is actually Places I Love to Read but I just couldn't see how to turn that into an actual post. I mean, I like to read wherever I can. *shrugs* See what I mean? Not exactly a thrilling post. I like to read at home. I like to read in the car if I arrive somewhere early. Beyond that... ??
So I decided to throw the word "About" at the end of the prompt and share some of my favorite settings.
And for you math whizzes out there, yeah, I know there are only nine. :)
Setting: Small town
Example: That Forever Girl
Setting: A Remote Cabin
Example: Tied
Setting: Bookstores or Libraries
Example: The Bookstore on the Beach
Setting: England, Ireland, or Scotland
Example: The Awakening
Setting: The South (U.S.)
Example: Everything I Never Wanted
Setting: Places I Have Been
Example: Boyfriend Material
Setting: Someplace with a White Christmas
Example: A Christmas to Remember
Setting: Russia
Example: Winter Garden
Setting: A Large, Rambling Mansion (bonus points if there's anything spooky about it)
Example: Moonlight Scandals
Have you read any of these books?
What are some of your favorite places to read about?
I'll admit that I haven't read many holiday themed books, but I feel like this is the year I'm going to go crazy on them lol. I've really been craving that Christmas feeling!
ReplyDeleteI don't read a ton of holiday books but I try to get a couple in each year.
DeleteI've been reading a lot of small town romances lately, and I love them! It's fun when all the characters are so close and everyone knows everyone else's business.
ReplyDeleteI think what I enjoy about them is the slower, less-hectic way of life.
DeleteOddly enough, I hated living in a small town as a teen, but I love them now and also love reading about them. It's fun reading about places you have been too. I do enjoy discovering new places, but when it's somewhere I have some familiarity with, it's even more fun
ReplyDeleteYears ago I used to read books set in big cities almost exclusively (usually London or NYC). Funny how now I've done a complete turn-around.
DeleteA great! I understand your feeling about your favorite places to read. Mine are pretty basic. So I twisted the topic a bit as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get the chance, I hope you stop by my post: https://readbakecreate.com/10-books-with-travel-locations-in-their-title/
Yeah, I don't read anywhere special so it was an odd prompt for me. LOL
DeleteMy favorite places to read about are Paris and Japan. I also love to read about anywhere in the natural world.
ReplyDeleteParis is one I enjoy reading about, too. :)
DeleteI love your spin! The little town in that Meghan Quinn book is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteYes! Port Snow, I think it was? I just loved that series. :)
DeleteYes, I think this weeks topic sort of fizzed out with most. I love all your places: small town, cabin, England, Scotland, big spooky (but amazing) house!
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing a lot alternative prompts today, too. :) It was a no-brainer to switch it up.
DeleteLove your twist to the prompt! I was tossing up on whether to do it or not and my post is scheduled for later but I added some pics to 'liven' it up 😂 LOVE small town settings (I miss Port Snow so much!) and also love books set in England, Ireland and Scotland! 😍
ReplyDeleteWasn't Port Snow the best? I miss that little town and all the people in it.
DeleteCan't wait to see your post! :)
Great interpretation of this week's topic. Mine TTT post is here: http://wordywitterings.com/2021/08/17/ttt-ten-texts-that-ill-be-teaching-this-year/
ReplyDeleteGreat twist on the theme! And Boyfriend Material is one of my favorite books from last year.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Boyfriend Material was such an unexpected hit for me! I really fell in love with it. :)
DeleteLove what you did with the post! And I agree with them all. I'd really like to combine the remote cabin with the white Christmas!
ReplyDeleteRemote cabin + white Christmas would be awesome! :)
DeleteI love reading small town settings and books set in the South, too!
ReplyDeleteI used to be so opposite and only sought out city settings, but I've done a complete turn-around and now much prefer small town settings. Go figure.
DeleteYour twist on this week's TTT is very similar to mine. I just wish I'd thought to put bookstores and libraries on my list! I love reading books with that kind of setting. Love your list. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark! Bookstores are such a perfect book setting. :)
DeleteI'm not a *place* reader. A particular setting won't make me read a book. Weird, I know lol And as to the original question - I sit on the couch. Very exciting lol
ReplyDeleteBut I love your twist on the topic.
Karen @For What It's Worth
I don't think I've ever chosen a book based solely on its setting (that would be weird LOL) but there are settings that I tend to enjoy more than others. For whatever reason they catch my interest more.
DeleteOh, great list! I like reading about small towns, too. Here's my TTT list.
ReplyDeleteThey're a real favorite. :)
DeleteSmall towns and the UK are definitely on my list!
ReplyDeleteI used to love city-based stories but now I'm all about the small towns.
DeleteGreat twist on this week's topics and I love all of these settings too, especially the small town and the bookstores/libraries.
ReplyDeleteA story set within a bookstore is like a bookworm's delight. :)
DeleteOoh nice twist! See sometimes these TTT topics need a little tweaking lol. :)
ReplyDeleteI like reading about bookstores or libraries too. sometimes I'll grab a cozy for that very reason even though I don't read a lot of those. And yes to England, Ireland or scotland.
Cozies are notorious for bookstore settings, it seems. :)
DeleteHow bad is it that I have read only one of these here? I did love reading Moonlight Scandals, that series is so good. I do have Boyfriend Material and That Forever Girl on my list to read soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
That Getting Lucky series from Meghan Quinn was so, so good! And Boyfriend Material became an instant favorite. :)
DeleteI have read and loved Boyfriend material!
ReplyDeleteI loved every minute of Boyfriend Material! :)
Deleteoooh, I like this spin on the topic! Much better than places I like to read. Like you, I read wherever! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these but I have a few of them. Boyfriend Material is one I hope to get to soon.
Boyfriend Material was such a surprise hit for me. And now I've learned there's a sequel coming soon so I'm thrilled! :)
DeleteI loved the setting of the Getting Lucky series, a seaside New Englad town sounds so fun!
ReplyDeleteWasn't Port Snow just wonderful! I'd love to read more books set there.
