Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Fictional Crushes
As a romance reader, fictional crushes are totally a thing. I love love. I love romance. I'm a sucker for some swoony dialogue. I adore a good alpha hero... or a sweet cinnamon roll. I can appreciate a badass, broody hero whose only soft spot is for the woman who captured his heart... and the down to earth beta male who openly declares his feelings for his true love.
So yeah, fictional crushes are a thing. :)
Disclaimer: We're going to totally ignore the fact that romance heroes are often in 20's-30's age range. For the sake of this week's prompt, I'm pretending that I'm 25 in order to alleviate any cougar vibes. LOL
Roth | The Dark Elements series - So what that he's a crown prince of Hell?
Rhysand | ACOTAR series - No explanation needed... it's Rhysand
Jamie Fraser | Outlander series - The dashing Highland warrior.
Alexander (Shura) Belov | The Bronze Horseman - Willing to love against all odds.
Connor Cobalt | Addicted series - Because confidence is king.
Ryke Meadows | Addicted series - Unpolished but utterly devoted.
Jonas | Lies & Lullabies - So much love for his unexpected family.
Ryan Wesley | Him - Because Ryan Wesley.
Cameron Hamilton | Wait For You - The swooniest, cookie-baking boyfriend.
Have you read any of these books?
Rhysand made my list today too. Swoon!
ReplyDeleteI bet we see him on a lot of lists today! :)
DeleteHaha, yes. I've already lost track of how many times I've seen him. So many of us with great taste. ;)
DeleteYep, I know exactly what you mean. And it's much easier to fall in love with a book character.
ReplyDeleteSo true! All the swoon with none of the real life issues. :)
DeleteI love Daemon, Roth, Rhysand, Connor and Ryke!! I also have Winston Constantine on my list!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
Winston Constantine? I'm intrigued because I don't know that one!
Delete"For the sake of this week's prompt, I'm pretending that I'm 25 in order to alleviate any cougar vibes"
ReplyDeleteDEAD!!!!!
I used to have the biggest crush on Connor and Ryke!!
LOL I feel like less of a creeper if I pretend I'm still 25. :)
DeleteConnor and Ryke... such amazing characters!!
I haven't read any of your bottom five yet. Crazy, right?!? BUT, I am sooo in agreeance with your top 5!!
ReplyDeleteI think my top 5 are all a few years older... and more widely known/read. :)
DeleteWell, I have at least read all of the authors of your bottom 5! LOL!
DeleteI have only read two posts so far and both featured Rhysand. Not shocking. He was steaming hot.
ReplyDeleteTruth! I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of Rhysand today. :)
Delete"Because Ryan Wesley." -- Yes. YES, INDEED! 😍 Jonas is also a great character! I'm actually surprised I haven't seen more Jamie and Rhysand on the lists I've visited this week LOL 😂 Great list!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen Jamie yet but Rhysand seems to be a popular choice today. :)
DeleteBecause Ryan Wesley!
ReplyDeleteWes didn’t make my ten…but he’s definitely crushable.
Here’s my list— https://fiftytwo.blog/2021/08/31/ttt-fictional-crushes/
Happy TTT!
I actually could have picked Jamie or Wes... they were both pretty crush-worthy. :)
Deletelol I used to have a lot of fictional crushes but I don't so much anymore. I think it's harder when you are over a certain age and you're reading YA.
ReplyDeleteKaren @For What It's Worth
Yeah, that gap seems a bit much. :)
DeleteI'm not a romance reader, so I couldn't come up with a list of fictional crushes this week. The "dashing Highland warrior" on your list sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll visit my TTT list!
Jamie Fraser was certainly a one-of-a-kind character. There was a lot to him.
DeleteI don’t think I have met any of your crushes.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get the chance, I hope you can stop by my post and check it out: https://readbakecreate.com/characters-i-would-love-to-have-a-drink-with/
It's funny. I love romance and I love characters as I'm reading about them, but I also know they're not real so I don't actually crush on them? Does that make sense? I couldn't come up with a list. Maybe I love too many characters? But I adore those first bottom 4. So maybe I do crush?
ReplyDeleteI can get that. I guess I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. Of course I know they're fictional, but that doesn't stop me from feeling all the swoony feelings. :)
DeleteI love romance books as well. I don't really get fictional crushes but do find some characters more swoon-worthy than others ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the swoony characters. :)
DeleteI've read ACOMAF and I think I'm in the minority of people who doesn't find Rhysand totally sexy!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2021/08/31/top-ten-tuesday-331/
Ack! Rhysand not sexy? Perish the thought. LOL Just kidding... we all have our own tastes and naturally not every character (or book) is going to appeal to every reader.
DeleteI know, I thought crushes was kinda weird too haha but I think sometimes we put ourselves in that age range of what we're reading? Like if it's 20- somethings we imagine ourselves how we were then, so it makes sense? lol IDK. Anyway... Outlander has always looked good.
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally do that, Greg. :)
DeleteI love how you don't discriminate your book loves and give a softy cinnamon roll the same kind of appreciation an alpha hero would get, and I agree! They're each special in their own way.
ReplyDeleteExactly! There both have their draw. :)
DeleteHa ha ha ha! Cougar vibes—I love it!—and that's exactly how I feel when people talk about book boyfriends. I'm just too old for that :)
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I figure I'm never too old for fictional crushes. Real life would be a little weird, but fictional is fun and harmless.
DeleteAhh, Jamie - definitely one of my crushes - that accent!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that accent delicious? :)
DeleteDaemon nearly made it to my list! I love his arrogance and banter :-)))
ReplyDeleteHe's one of my long-time favorites. :)
DeleteFellow hopeless romantic here. I LOVE love, too. Haha! And I totally could have used your disclaimer this week. ;) Yay for Jamie Fraser. I still can't believe how long it took me to finally read that series. Now it's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI've fallen a bit behind on the Outlander series (by maybe two books?) but I still have some serious love for Jamie Fraser. :)
DeleteYou have so many great ones on this list! Rhys, Daemon, Roth! And I can't forget Jamie!
ReplyDeleteArmentrout writes some of the swooniest heroes. :
DeleteA million times yes to Daemon Black! He was one of my first fictional crushes too, and Cam Hamilton. They were just so swoon worthy and I read their stories every couple of years to feel all of that wonderfulness all over again ♥.
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Daemon and Cam are the best! I almost always love Armentrout's heroes. :)
