The Sunday Post #266 | November 7, 2021

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

I hope everyone remembered to "fall back" and re-set their clocks last night/this morning. I love this time change and always prefer it over Daylight Saving Time but even so, I wish we could just pick one and stick with it. I mean, what even is the purpose anymore?

We had a nor'easter come through Thursday night and that brought some big changes. After several days of the temps hovering close to 80, it dropped almost 30 degrees and never got above 50 on Friday and Saturday. And it rained all day long both days. I was in heaven. Overcast, cold (well, cold to me lol), rainy... I was so in my element.

I had the simplest - but most delicious - salad this week and I think it's going to be on repeat for a while. Some Boston/Bibb lettuce, fresh corn kernels from one ear of corn, a couple tablespoons of crumbled bleu cheese, 2 boiled eggs, and some lemon vinaigrette. So yummy!

We had such a stunning sunset a couple nights ago. Too bad it's gone so quickly... five minutes later it was completely dark!

This week's 80's music fix is Your Love (1985) by The Outfield. I was so obsessed with this song in the summer of '85. :)

  1. That salad looks delicious!!

And I agree: I'd prefer this time too, and for them to stop switching it.

I remember a while ago there was a discussion about it in the government, but sadly, nothing came of it.

    1. Thanks Esther. It does seem like it gets discussed every few years, but it never seems to change.

  2. I was just raging about the clock change. I don't care which direction, it's disruptive and my sleep is a delicate thing. I have been up since 2 am and will have to fight to stay awake until a normal hour to try and get back on track. We should have to deal with jetlag unless we get to travel somewhere great, you know? Salad looks delish. I love eggs in stuff and those were cooked well too. Yum! Yeah for fall weather too!

    1. Totally agree, Sam. Even though it just an hour, it seems to take forever to adjust my sleep schedule and doing that twice a year seems pointless. I love eggs in stuff, too. Except for soup. That weirds me out for some reason. lol

  3. Yes, now that we have fallen back I say we leave the clocks alone. Your salad sounds yummy and your books look great.

    1. I'm not even sure there's a valid reason for the time change anymore. And I know there are a couple states that don't do it.

  4. I don't think the extra hour of sleep helped me, I was up half the night anyway! Glad you finally got some fall weather!

    1. Same here, Angela. Why does it always take so long to adjust to just an hour change? Ugh!

  5. We had the weather change like you but didn't get the rain. We need some. I love Boston lettuce - that's what I have growing in the garden and it is SO good. I don't need the time change either.

  6. That sunset us simply breathtaking! Too bad it didn't last one.

  7. We haven't gotten the rain, but it was actually in the upper 20's a few mornings here! And I agree about the time change-can we just pick one?!

    1. Into the 20's? Brrr! It doesn't often get that cold here, even in the winter. LOL

  8. LOL!! I love that totally random photo. I definitely don't miss those days where we still had to read the doctors handwriting.
That salad looks and sounds very delicious.
Have a great week and happy reading.

    1. Yes! Thanks goodness everything is online and on tablets now! Trying to decipher handwriting is the worst. :)

  9. You'd love our weather haha (although today it's sunny and in the 60's. Michigan must not have got the memo it's November). And I agree about the time change. Can we just pick one??? :)

Excellent song choice! Wow that takes ya back...

  10. I hate time changes sooo much!!!

Sorry about the weather, but at least you have reason to try holiday drinks at Starbucks haha!

  11. I don't think I will ever understand the time changes. Although I prefer this one we had today over the one in the spring. I love the feeling of getting extra rest. Hope you are enjoying Noble Prince, I need to get back to that series.

    1. Me too, Renee. I definitely prefer this time over the spring change. It's too weird when the sun is still shining at 8:30 at night. Loved Noble Prince! This is such a great series.

  12. I really wish we would just do away with daylight savings. I don't think it serves any purpose whatsoever. That salad sounds delicious. I don't think I've ever tried lemon viniagrette before but it sounds so good. Oh wow, that song from The Outfield brings back so many memories from middle and high school. I still have that one in my iTunes library, lol.

    1. Wish I could say I made the lemon vinaigrette but it was store-bought. Tasty, though! I'm pretty sure that Outfield song is in my iTunes library, too. lol

  13. "A wise doctor once wrote..." That's hilarious!

I'm not a big fan of the time changes, but I'd rather Fall Back than Spring Forward in terms of gaining an hour and getting some more sleep. Not ready for it to be pitch black super early though. LOL

Glad you got some cooler weather!!

    1. Same here, Lauren! I love the extra hour. But - and I know I'm in the minority here - I do like it getting dark earlier.

  14. I love that Outfield song. Always puts me in a good mood. I'm glad you're in your element with the weather. It's great reading weather. We have a lot of rain going on here ourselves.

  15. Yay for the cooler temps and rain! I love reading when it's raining outside! That sunset is gorgeous. That salad sounds delicious! Did you make your own lemon vinaigrette?

Sorry to see Well Matched wasn't quite a hit. I rated it similarly. April was tough for me.

    1. No, I can't claim the lemon vinaigrette. I believe it was called Simply Dressed Lemon Vinaigrette by Marzetti and I found it in the refrigerated section of the produce department. Very tasty!

  16. That salad looks yummy! I was grateful for the time change this weekend since we had soccer tournaments both days and I'd prefer not to wake up at 5:45am both days haha. So Sundays morning went much easier. But yes, I'd love to get rid of the time change! Just stay on one please! Also I've read Fighting Irish and it's a cute story ♥.

  18. Ugh I hate time changes! Our state voted to do away with them, but somehow that hasn't worked out. I've heard such amazing things about Devney Perry! I'm definitely going to have to check out some of her books.

    1. Well that's annoying that it's even been voted to change and still hasn't. Ugh. I highly recommend Devney Perry! She's a great story teller.

  19. I don't like the time change either. It throws off the dog's schedule and the toddler's schedule because they don't understand time. They want things when they want them! I hope you're having a good week!
