It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.
THE WEEK IN REVIEW
It was a fairly uneventful week. Work, meetings, dinner, reading, bed, repeat. :) I did work from home on Thursday just for a change of pace.
I had a hair appointment yesterday - my first since December. When I contacted my stylist in February for an appointment she told me her son was sick and she was taking some time off. Sadly, he passed away in late March (cancer). He was just 41 years old. She recently returned to work and when I saw her yesterday (with way too long hair) she talked about her son a lot and we both had a good cry. My heart hurts for her.
It was hot here all week with temps in the high 80's every day. Ugh. It's supposed to be in the 70's all this next week and I am so ready for it.
This week's 80's throwback is Always on My Mind (1987) by the Pet Shop Boys. The original video from the 80's is not that great so instead I'm sharing a live performance from 2019. Enjoy!

NEW ADDITIONS
Not a thing.
It's just not natural to bury your children. Breaks my heart. The weather is all over the place. It has been rather nice in Chicago (under 70, but very sunny each day). Today is supposed to be a high of 73. I packed all the wrong clothes, but what can you do
ReplyDeleteSam - Exactly. We always expect to lose our parents, but never our kids. It's just wrong. Enjoy that Chicago weather while you're there! :)
DeleteYour post reminds me I'm overdue for a haircut and need a new stylist too! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteHarvee - Good luck finding a new stylist!
DeleteThat hair appointment must have been deeply emotional indeed Tanya! Children aren't meant to passa ways before their parents!
ReplyDeleteSophie - So right. Parents should not have to bury their children. :(
DeleteThat would have been an emotional hair appointment, as we do all seem to get to be friends with our stylists. We had temps in the 80s this week, but then this weekend was nice and cool, like early spring weather, I loved it! Back up to summer temps this week though I think. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteLisa Loves Literature
Lisa - We do seem to share with our stylists, don't we? My heart really breaks for her. I hope the temps aren't too hot for you this week!
DeleteAlways On My Mind is such a great song! My week last week was a lot like yours: work, laundry (or other chores), dinner, bed, repeat. ;D
ReplyDeleteLark - I've always loved that song. And their remake is such a good one.
DeleteOh, no. That is so sad.
ReplyDeleteJen - It was sad. And it's hard to do what to say. All you can really do is be there and listen.
DeleteOh, I'm so sorry for your stylist! That is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteOur weather was nice this week, actually a little cooler than average which I didn't mind, but I think the warm weather is coming soon.
Angela - Cooler than average is good! It's supposed to stay between 75-80 here all week and I'm thrilled for the break in the heat!
DeleteOh wow that is just awful for your stylist. How awful! Its suppose to be in the 80's all week here! I'm not thrilled.
ReplyDeleteSamantha - Yep, it's was in the 80's here all last week. As in, almost 90. Ugh. This week is cooler with the chance of rain and I'm excited! :)
DeleteSo sad about your stylist's son. So glad you could be there for her.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie. I was happy to be there when she needed to talk.
Delete70's sounds good. It's 73 here right now and perfect.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at the random. I often say song lyrics or movie quotes and people don't always get them ha. If you know you know I guess. lol
Greg - When someone doesn't get my lyrics references, on the inside I'm always thinking "you are not my people." lol
DeleteRight??? lol
DeleteIt's nice you had a quiet week and got to work from home. I'm looking forward to 70s this week also.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne - I'm so excited for a week of slightly cooler weather. And it's storming as I write this which is even better. :)
DeleteOh my heart hurts for your hairdresser. I am glad she got the time with him at the end but that doesn't really help when everything is fresh. It's gotten hot and humid here but the humidity has just been ridiculous lately. I hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - I know. I feel just terrible for her. :( We've seemed to have had a break from the humidity the last couple days. And it's pouring rain right now which makes me happy. :)
DeleteI'm so sad for your hairdresser! Kids should outlive their parents. I think the pain of losing a child would be a terrible kind grief!
ReplyDeleteOur weather has been the same, high 80s, hotter than I'd like, and we'll be going back to 70s this next week, too. So yay! Nice that you got to work from home one day!
Rachel - I know, it's the kind of thing that is impossible to imagine. :(
DeleteOw no! That's horrible about your stylist's son. Life isn't fair!
ReplyDeleteIt has finally been a bit warmer here as well. Unfortunately it's supposed to change and get colder already.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Maureen - Sorry to hear that the cold weather isn't done yet! It's a bit cooler here this week (but still very warm) but it's also rainy which I love. :)
DeleteThat's really sad about your stylist's son.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is okay at the moment, but it's supposed to get into the 80's about midweek.
Lauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Lauren - I know, my heart just hurts for her.
DeleteEnjoy those warms temps coming your way!
I'm so sorry for your hairdresser. That's horrible. :( I love that you're reading Beautifully Broken! I can actually say I've read a Cowles's book before you! That's crazy!
ReplyDeleteDeanna - LOL Yep, you beat me to this series! I didn't connect with this one as quickly as I did with all her others, but I definitely came around. I'm about 80% in now and, oh boy, things are happening!
DeleteOur weather has been all over the place. From the early 60's to the late 70's.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your hairdresser's son.
Hena - Wow, your temps really have been all over the place. But I would trade you for some of those 60's temps! :)
DeleteWow, that must have been an intense hair appointment. I'm sorry she's going through that.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Aj. It's hard to even know what to say.
DeleteLosing a child, even at the age has to be so difficult for a mother. Yay for a work at home day. I hope this week brings good things.
ReplyDeleteKimberly - I think I'm going to need another work from home day this week since the AC in my office isn't working!
DeleteThat's heartbreaking. I'm glad you were willing to let her talk like that. Some people feel awkward and try to avoid the topic but she needs to.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Karen @For What It's Worth
Karen - It's always hard to know what to say, but sometimes people just need to talk and all you have to do is listen.
DeleteOh I'm so sorry to hear that about your stylist. Must be awful having to go through such a loss. Glad she could talk to you at least.
ReplyDeleteLindsey - Yes, I feel terrible for her. All I could really do was be there and listen. :(
DeleteThat's so sad about your hairdresser's son. 41 is so young. :(
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - So true. 41 is much, much too young. :(
DeleteI imagine it takes some special strength to pull yourself up after losing a child. Prayers for her. I just read the first Hades Hangmen book, so I'm looking forward to continuing the series!
ReplyDeleteAlison - I need to get the fifth book in the Hangmen series. I'm trying not to go thru them too quickly but it's hard!
DeleteUneventful / standard weeks are good weeks in my book. :) Glad you seem to be well!
ReplyDeleteYour poor stylist! No parent should have to bury their child... Age is irrelevant on that point. Cancer royally sucks.
