Top Ten Tuesday: Red, White & Blue Edition

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Books with Red, White and Blue Covers
in Honor of the 4th of July (USA)
If I had planned ahead, and was more clever, I would have put together a collage that looked like the American flag, but I didn't and I'm not, sooo... I went for simplicity instead. For those who celebrate, have a happy and safe 4th!

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda | Before and After | Pure
A Court of Thorns and Roses | Falling | The Upside of Unrequited
White Hot Kiss | Catching Fire | Twilight | Who Do You Love

Do you have any 4th of July traditions?
(Or your own country's Independence Day)

  1. Oh, I love how you put those covers together, despite not being in the right order for the American flag :) I hope you have a good week despite everything going on!

    1. Me too, Grace! I actually ordered my copy from Book Depository just so I could have that gorgeous UK cover. :)

  5. Pretty covers! I don't really have any set traditions for Forth of July. It's supposed to be crazy hot tomorrow so I'm going to try and swim, and if not that, then I'll be indoors! LOL

    1. Swimming is a perfect way to stay cool! :) I’ll be indoors as much as possible tomorrow... it’ll be in the 90’s here. Ack!

  6. So many people have mentioned Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda this week that I might just have to finally read it. Haha.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

    1. I never re-read but Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is the one book I make an exception for. There’s no telling how many times I’ve read the book and listened to the audio version. Love it! :)

  7. Ooh I've never seen Twilight with a white cover before! I'm in the UK, so no we don't have an Independence Day (would be very strange considering our history!), the closest thing we have to 4th July is our Bonfire Night, 5th November, but that's not celebrating independence, it's celebrating the failed attempt of Guy Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

    1. I only recently came across that particular Twilight cover and thought it was pretty striking.

LOL No, you definitely wouldn’t be celebrating Independence Day... at least not the same one we do. Haha!

  8. Great books! I love the white twilight cover. We usually go out of town to a family friends house to shoot fireworks, but my husband has to work so my parents are taking my son and I will be home by myself. Probably reading. We'll go watch fireworks later.

    1. Too bad your husband has to work. :( But home alone means lots of reading time! :) Hope you get to see some later fireworks!

  9. Planning ahead for this one? Yeah I'm not there either ha ha. Love your picks though! Before and Again, Catching Fire, Who Do You Love- all nice covers.

Hope you have a fantastic Tuesday and a nice 4th!

  13. If I hadn't featured Simon just last week, I was going to include it on my list too. It's a red book that immediately pops into my head.

  14. Tanya! I feel like I haven't been on your page in forever considering I took a long hiatus haha, but this was a great color scheme and you definitely picked some of my favorites (ACOTAR, Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens, & Pure)! Great post! Here's my TTT post!

    1. I’ve seen Simon on a lot of lists - which made me happy. I have so much love for that book. :) And adding Pure was a great reminder that I need to continue with the Covenant series!

  15. Simon and Catching Fire are somewhere in my post, too. They’re some of my favorite red books.

    1. Same here, AJ! Thinking about Catching Fire has me itching to do a re-read. It’s been years since I read the whole trilogy.

  16. I ended up adding Before and Again on my TBR. It sounds so interesting. It has a 25 person wait for it at the library so it'll be a long time before I read it. :( I don't think I've ever seen Twilight with a white cover but it is gorgeous!

We pop fireworks at my grandma's house and they usually have a firework stand down the road from her, so we just walk over to purchase but the downside is tons of people go to pop fireworks and leave trash by the stand. But other then that, it was a simple day for us. I think we make a bigger deal out of the Mexican independence day, they have festivals around here and things like that. (I live on the border so we celebrate both holidays).

I hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. Before and Again was a solid read. (Which reminds me that I’m late with my review. Oops!) And I only recently came across that white Twilight cover which I thought was pretty cool!

What a great tradition of doing fireworks at your grandmother’s house. I hope you all had a great time last night! :)

  17. Simplicity is good. I love so many of those books...

I find independence days amusing considering that it's my country's removal that a huge portion of the world celebrates. 😆 It's most definitely an interesting position to be in!

  18. I love the cover for Falling! I looked it up on Goodreads and saw your review... would you recommend reading it?

    1. Isn’t that cover for Falling gorgeous? I wish I could say the inside was just as wonderful, but... meh. I don’t really think I would recommend it. Too many issues with it. I would totally recommend some of Jane Green’s earlier books (Jemima J, Family Pictures, Another Piece of My Heart) but this one - not so much.

    1. Yeah, I had good intentions but when it came down to actually making a flag collage... *yawn* Seemed like way too much work. LOL

  20. Catching fire was a good book.

I went to work on the 4th, but it was raining in the evening really bad so those people that went to see the fireworks were probably miserable.

    1. Oh no, too bad that the rain messed up so many plans. That's always a risk, though, on the 4th.

  21. I love the covers you picked!! They all really blend in together nicely. My fave book would have to be ACOTAR. That series is just SOOOO good imo. I'm due for a reread asap.

    1. Thanks Jessica! And I’m totally with you on ACOTAR... a reread sounds awesome about now. :)
