WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

The Raging Ones - Krista & Becca Ritchie
As of last night, I've actually set this one aside for now. After a week, I'd still only managed to get to the 40% mark. It breaks my heart because I adore Krista and Becca and they write some of my all time favorite contemporaries, but this one just isn't doing it for me. I don't understand the world, I have no connection with the characters, and overall I'm just... bored.

Blind Kiss - Renee Carlino
Because I kept plugging away at The Raging Ones, I'm now in a bit of a time crunch to read and review The Blind Kiss. I'm part of the blog tour next week, but thankfully Carlino is one of my favorites and I also seem to get through her books fairly quickly. I only read a few pages last night but it was already like a huge feeling of relief.
Ahhh, I'm back in the contemporary world again. Thank you.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
That would be *nothing.* Since I spent all of the last week trying to read The Raging Ones, the last book I finished was Kylie Scott's It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time (review posts tomorrow).

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?
I guess I could say I'll go back to The Raging Ones, but no. I need more of a break before attempting it again. I still have More Than We Can Tell out from the library so that's a possibility. Otherwise I'm just going to wait and decide at the time. After struggling with The Raging Ones, I don't want to force anything now and end up in a reading slump.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  6. Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying The Raging Ones; don't be afraid to DNF! Yay for enjoying the start of Carlino's latest though. I hope it's a great one.

    1. Well, The Raging Ones is on indefinite hold for now. Maybe it’ll work better for me another time. On the plus side, I’m loving the Carlino one so far!

  7. Oh no. I picked up the Raging Ones because I haven’t read those two authors and everyone has high praise. I am still going to give it a go, but I am not as excited. Bummer.

    1. Oh gosh, I hope you’ll love it, Heidi. I saw a couple really disappointing reviews recently but I discounted them. I figured, I love KBR’s other series - I’ll love this too. But, looking back, those other reviews summed up my experience pretty well. My fingers are crossed that you have a better experience!

  8. Sometimes the timing is off for a book as well. I've gone back (usually a few months later) and it works better for me. Not always but sometimes. I hope it is the same for you. At least you had one book you enjoyed! I've been slacking on my reading but hopefully will pick it up again soon.

    1. Hopefully that will be the case with this one if I set it aside for a while. It breaks my heart because I love KBR's other books!

  9. I'm reading The Raging Ones now and have mixed feelings about it. I do like the premise of the book so I'm hoping my experience improves as I go along.

    1. I so hope it turns around and becomes a real winner for you, Suzanne. I hate that it just wasn't working for me.

  10. I wish I could tell you that The Raging Ones ended up being good but... that'd be a lie. I was SO sad too, I wanted so much to like it! Like I guess the ending did pick up a little but I didn't care about anyone or anything by that point, so. Sorry you've been slogging through, and I really hope that Blind Kiss is better!

I am currently reading Not Even Bones. And dude. It is MESSED UP!

    1. I feel bad because it's Krista & Becca! I love them! I love their contemporaries! But yeah, at 40% in I definitely gave The Raging Ones a fair shot. On the bright side, Blind Kiss is wonderful so far. :)

LOL Let's hear it for MESSED UP reads. Bahaha!

  11. Too bad about The Raging Ones! That book actually looks like something I might enjoy, but I'm noticing that people in the comments didn't like it either. :/

    1. It kills me to set The Raging Ones aside, Tracy. Krista & Becca are two of my favorite authors and their Addicted series is one of my favorite contemporary series *ever.* But this foray into sci-fi... yeah, not so much. :(

  12. I just saw a really lukewarm review for The Raging Ones, so yeah... I'm probably going to give that a miss. Sorry it wasn't working for you, that's always a bummer!

  13. I am always afraid of genre jumps with favorite authors, and you know I don't really branch out much. I have faith in you - you can finish the Carlino book in time for the tour. =)

    1. Yeah, I probably should have given more thought before requesting it. Sci-fi is *not* my thing. But is was Krista and Becca, sooo...

The Carlino book is going much better! I'm already at the 50% point and totally into it. :)

  14. I just started The Raging Ones, and now I'm worried... I feel like those are all reasons I would want to DNF a book. Argh! Maybe it'll work out for me, but most of the other reviews I've seen haven't been super positive. I haven't read anything else by the authors, so I don't have their other books to compare it to.

    1. My fingers are crossed that it's a better fit for you, Lindsi! I hope you love it! Maybe it's because I never read sci-fi and I'm all about the contemporaries (which Krista and Becca are awesome at!). I'll be looking forward to reading your thoughts!!

    2. I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi, so I'm worried... I'm literally opening it up to read right now! <3

  15. I’ve also been reading nothing. I have relatives staying with me, so I’ve been doing everything except reading. I’m slowly struggling through The Possessions. I hope you enjoy your upcoming read!

    1. Company definitely puts a damper on reading time. Routines go out the window.
I hope The Possessions is a struggle because of time and not because of content!

  16. I'm sorry to hear you didn't like The Raging Ones! I've seen other people have similar complaints, but I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because I've never read their other books, so I had no expectations going in? Anyway, I hope whatever you're reading now/next is better for you!

    1. It breaks my heart that I couldn't get through The Raging Ones. I adore Krista & Becca but this one just didn't do it for me. You're probably right about not having any expectations since they were new to you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
