The Sunday Post #123

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

Another busy week, but one that came with some good news: we close on the old house in a few days! It was supposed to happen a month ago but there was a last minute hiccup with the buyers and the whole thing had to be extended for a month. It's been a tense few weeks but now the end is near. It'll be great to have that behind us.

We had a little night on the town last night with dinner and a movie. But not just any movie: Harry Potter + the Symphony Orchestra! Last year my sister and I went to see the first movie in concert and this year they continued with The Chamber of Secrets. They really went all out with props for photo ops, the staff were dressed in robes, and lots of people in costume. Even better, The Husband was with us this time. We all had a great time and I'm hoping the Symphony continues the tradition next year.

WHAT I FINISHED IN THE LAST WEEK:

A good time start to finish!

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
When the editor calls it Love, Actually + When Harry Met Sally in book form... it sounds like it was written just for me! :)

KINDLE BOOKS:
An old favorite by Green. It's been probably 15 years since I read it, it popped up on sale at Amazon, so I nabbed it. Maybe one day I'll give it a reread.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  2. Ooh Tanya I used to read lots of Jane Green some years ago right alongside marian Keyes! And I would love going on a Harry Potter concert themed ;-) Seems like you had a fun week!

    1. YES! Oh my gosh, I used to read *everything* by Jane Green, Marian Keyes and Lisa Jewell. I finally fell out with Jane Green. Her last 3 or 4 books were disappointments so I kind of gave up on her. Lisa Jewell... oh how I loved her books! I inhaled them. Now she’s moved into mystery/suspense. I’ve only read one of those so far (Then She Was Gone) and really like dit. So I’m sticking with her. And Marian Keyes... oh my gosh, her humor is The Best. She slays me. I’ve fallen behind with hers so I need to get on that. The only thing I read from her lately are her monthly newsletters which entertain me to no end. :)

  4. Yay for closing on the house, and I STILL need to see one of those Harry Potter orchestra events. The third is my favorite, so it would be cool to see that one! :)

  5. The Harry Potter themed concert seems lots of fun. For the past two years, I thought about attending (in Portugal it usually happens on February) but it's too far away from where I live.

    Happy readings! ;)

    1. Aw, that’s too bad that’s it’s so far from where you live. At least you can watch the movies and experience it whenever you want. :)

    1. Totally nerve-wracking - especially when the buyer had last-minute financing issues which delayed the sale by 30 days. Gah! Such a relief to have it all behind us.

  8. How fun seeing Harry Potter in concert. We have the same gig going on in Minneapolis, but I haven't checked it out yet. Good news about the closing. Congrats!

  9. That looks like a lot of fun! I'm a little jealous! I've been reading the Harry Potter books to my son, and we watch the corresponding movie after each book. He really loves hearing about everything, but actually seeing the magic at his age is just... wow. He gets this crazy excited look on his face, and I end up watching his reactions more than the movie.

Yay! You're almost finished with your old house! I'm sure that will be a huge weight lifted from your shoulders.

    1. How great to be able to sort of expereince it all again through your son’s eyes.
The movie/concert event was fun but it was also a reminder of how LONG the movie was (2 hrs 55 min). So it was an hour and a half, then an intermission, then another hour and a half. We didn’t get home until 11:00 and I was sooo sleepy. :)

Such a relief to have the sale of the house behind us! The closing was on Tuesday and everything went smoothly. Yay!

    1. It really was a great experience! They do it with other movies, too (the orchestra performing the score alongside the movie) but I’ve only ever gone to the Harry Potter ones so far. :)

  11. How fun! I love all the HP pics! And yeah! It's nice that you are getting the old house all squared away. I hope you are loving One Day in December. Definitely has some of both those movies, with the frustration of Love, Rosie.

    1. It had been a while since I’d seen Chamber of Secrets so I’d forgotten bits and pieces. SO that was fun. I was always reminded on how long that is! Just shy of 3 hours. It made for a late night. *yawn*

  17. Congrats on the house. We just found a new one and will move the first week of November, I feel like I'm buried in boxes and may be lost underneath piles of books.

I LOVE those in concert concerts. I've seen Lord of The Rings like that and funnily enough a Stark Trek movie. The real orchestra is AMAZING!

    1. Thanks Olivia! And congrats right back to you! November is coming up quickly... I imagine your evenings are filled with weeding out, sorting and packing. I don’t envy you that! Hope the move goes smoothly.

The movie concerts are such great events. I bet LOTR was great to see that way. Next year they’re doing Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz here.
