The Sunday Post #182

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Fall made another appearance this week and it was downright chilly (by Florida standards) for a few days. Yesterday the temp hovered around 50 degrees all day and it was overcast and misty/rainy... perfection! Honestly, that is my favorite kind of day. It makes me deliriously happy. And yet I live in the Sunshine State... LOL
  • The Husband got his car back on Tuesday. Yay! The graphics on the driver's side still have to be redone, but the new paint has to cure for 30 days before that happens. But at least he's back in his own car instead of the rental.
  • I was out and about most of the day yesterday - just because I loved being out in the weather. :) (Yes, really.) We were on the hunt for cushions for the wicker sofa on the back patio and guess what... those are tough to find in November! LOL We did find some at the At Home store but nothing in the right size. We finally just bought something to make due since I wanted to have something before everyone arrives on Thanksgiving.
  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: My memories of this song is that it came out when I was in 9th grade and I was certain there could never be a better song. This was it... pinnacle reached. LOL While I did eventually get over that notion, it's still a pretty great song and video. :)

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:

I finished both Repeat and Flow earlier today. I really enjoyed Repeat since Clem and Ed were so likable. It was easy to be sympathetic toward Clem and her situation while also understanding Ed's hesitation. I guessed who the baddie was but that didn't detract from my enjoyment at all. Flow was the prequel to the Grip duology and while it was short (just under 4.5 hours) it packed a punch. No surprise since it's Kennedy Ryan. And what an ending! I'm excited to start the first in the duology, Grip, tonight or tomorrow.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Well, technically I'm not reading anything right now. I finished both my physical book (Repeat) and my audio book (Flow) this morning and I haven't started my next reads yet. But I plan to start Blitzed tonight (woo hoo!) and I'll begin Grip either tonight or tomorrow morning.

KINDLE BOOKS:

Yes. Every Time.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. I'm glad you had some nicer Fall weather - for Florida! And I'm always the person who wants to read at social gatherings. haha

    1. LOL Yes, fall weather for Florida is practically like summer for everywhere else. Ha!

  2. My weather sweet spot is 50 - 75, however, it was like 17 one morning here. That is too cold to be waiting at the bus stop. I survived. You are too funny. I agree that Always Something There to Remind Me is a great song, but your 9th grade love had me giddy over it. I hope you like Blitzed. I enjoyed it, but not so much for the romance. It was all about the female friendship in that book. Don't get me wrong, the romance was fine, but it was the Lady Mustangs who stole the show for me.

    1. 17?! Ack! I would have to hibernate until spring. LOL I'm interested to get further into Blitzed and see if I feel similarly to you about the friendships vs the romance.

  3. Well a happy week for your husband with the car and you with the weather Tanya! I confess that I am in no hurry to get even colder temperatures (it's already freezing at nigh and in the morning here)! And no I don't live in a sunny state LOL

    1. Well, my idea of cold temps is probably a lot different than the cold you get. LOL The cold I get here is probably like sweater weather for anyone else. :)

  4. I think in the 60s is my ideal temperature! We've had very chilly weather this week, but it's supposed to get a little more normal for the season this week.

    1. 60's would be good! Of course, most Floridians would don coats and complain about the extreme cold. LOL

  5. You should move to the Pacific Northwest! We have your ideal weather for months on end haha. I like the weather to be mild, so I'm pretty happy with the weather here as well. We get snow in the winter, and ice, but it's usually gone within a day or two, and the summers only get really hot for about a week or two. I'm originally from Southern California where I had to run the air conditioner from March through October.
And now that song is running through my head... and I didn't even listen to it! Just seeing the title took me back!

    1. As tempting as that sounds, I'm betting part of my love for the cold rainy days is the fact that I get them so infrequently. I wonder if I would love them so much if I had months of them? LOL

  6. I loved that song!! great pick! enjoy your weather!!

  7. That Naked Eyes song is awesome and so quintessentially 80's. It's like Safety Dance by Men Without Hats- the 80's is the only decade that could have produced that song. :) Or Flock of seagulls haha. They just had something. Love it. And yay for cooler weather- I imagine it feels kinda good since Florida can be pretty toasty most of the time!

    1. Exactly, Greg! Both of those songs are very much of their time. :)

  8. We went looking for our patio cushions late in the year too. We didn't have much to choose from, but we got a fantabulous deal on the cushions they were just about to put back in the warehouse!

    1. We ended up finding some on clearance at another store and saved a bundle, Nicole! We took the others back. I just love a good deal. :)

  9. I was a teen in the 80s too. That song brought back memories! Enjoy your reading week!

    1. I'm still hopelessly stuck in the 80's when it comes to music. :)

  10. Yay for getting your car back. Mine was supposed to be done, but alas... Outdoor seat cushions would be difficult to find in November. I usually try Amazon, but I wonder if Home Depot would have some? They usually have outdoor furniture and such.

I guessed at the baddie in Repeat, too. Still, loved it and I'm thrilled you did, too. I'm going to check out Grip.

    1. Oh no, still no car? I hope you get in back soon. We actually tried Home Depot first for the cushions but they'd cleared out all the outdoor stuff for Christmas items. We ended getting a fantastic deal at Old Time Pottery where all the outdoor cushions were 75% off! Apparently it paid to wait until November. LOL

  11. Haha, I’m always tempted to read at social gatherings. It’s much more fun than socializing. I’m glad your husband has his car back. Have a great week!

    1. Amen to that! I'd always rather read than socialize. Being social takes everything out of me.

  15. Yay for your hubby getting his car back and double yay for some enjoyable weather! I'm laughing out loud at your last graphic because that's so me. I'm already wondering if I can get away with it on Thanksgiving Day, lol.

    1. Ha! Wouldn't that be nice. Just slip away from everyone on Thanksgiving, find a quiet space, and read. I'll do it if you will. LOL

  16. We were at -1c at various points over the past week. :( It sucks. It went past that nice cold stage you can enjoy to bitterly cold in the blink of an eye.

I haven't read Repeat! I've wanted to since it released as an audible exclusive but then I was waiting on the ebook and then when it released I'd just... Drifted off. You've reminded me now! :)

    1. Yikes, that's some serious cold. I think I'll keep my "Florida cold", thank you very much. LOL

      I hope you enjoy Repeat!

  17. I'm sat here convinced I commented on this post but obviously not. Your weather preference is a little weird, not gonna lie, but it is always nice when the weather cools a bit. Glad you enjoyed your read and audio book and hopefully you'll enjoy the next two books you plan to pick up.
