The Sunday Post #183

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • It was a killer week at the office and by Friday I was DONE. It's this way every year around this time. There's about a three week period where I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread. And I happen to be right at the start of it this week. Hopefully after it's all done I can schedule some time off!
  • Yesterday I stayed home for most of the day. I was a little hermit and it was fabulous. We ventured out in the evening to run an errand and grab some dinner at Red Robin. (Red Robin... yummm! Every time I think of Red Robin I have to say the jingle. LOL)
  • I'm hosting Thanksgiving at my house again this year so I've been busy finalizing the menu, shopping, pulling out serving pieces and table linens. It's a lot of time and preparation but I enjoy it. If you're in the U.S., what are your Thanksgiving plans? Hosting a dinner, traveling to see family, taking part in a Friendsgiving, skipping it altogether? :)
  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: Queen has long been one of my favorite bands and Who Wants to Live Forever is probably my favorite of all their songs. Freddie Mercury had an amazing voice and was such a brilliant performer.

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:

I stayed up late Friday night to finish Blitzed and ended up so ragey about it that I took my ranting to Twitter. LOL I'll have my review up shortly but spoiler alert: the main character did something that made absolutely NO sense, left me fuming, and practically ruined the book for me. So there's that. *throws book down and stomps off in a huff*

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I started Coming Home for Christmas yesterday and I'm about 90 pages in. One of the main characters left her husband and two small children seven years ago without a word and the husband just recently learned that she's alive and living by another name in the next state. I'm curious how the author is going to make the woman a sympathetic character. I can't wait to get the rest of the story and find out what happened to her because it's obvious she's been through a lot.

I have another 2 hours remaining in the audio of Grip and something has happened that has me in knots. I had to quit listening this morning because I was getting all worried about the situation. LOL Kennedy Ryan definitely puts her characters through the wringer... along with my emotions!

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

Devney Perry is one of the authors I'm determined to try before the end of the year!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. I just love that meme. LOL Blitzed... meh. I was enjoying it well enough... not loving it like the previous two books, but it was good... but I got so ragey with Brynn that it pretty much killed it for me. I haven't even felt like writing a review. Ha!

  3. I'm going to my brother's house on Thanksgiving, so hopefully it'll be fun. Honestly, I'm not really a fan of Thanksgiving. I hope you get through work okay!

  4. Good luck with work and Thanksgiving. My job seems to be the opposite of everyone else’s. Summer is nuts, and winter is dead. Have a good week!

    1. It's probably a good thing that the only Red Robin here is clear across town. Otherwise my husband would want to go there all the time. LOL

  7. This is the first year in a while that I didn't host friendsgiving and it makes me sad. You're definitely a pro at hosting though!

  8. I hope work isn’t as crazy as you fear. A burger and chips sounds great about now.
    I love Queen!
Wishing you a great reading week

  9. I hope these next few weeks go by without being too crazy for you at work. Just knowing that it's typical and will pass would help me cope I think.

We don't host Thanksgiving, but we go to my step-son's mom's early in the day for a traditional thanksgiving meal (for the most part) and then later we go to my sister-in-law's for tamales. We started a tradition of a day after Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's but he's in Japan this year, so we'll get back to it next year.

Have a great week and Thanksgiving!

    1. That's true. Every year I just put my head down and get through... knowing it's only a 3-4 week period. I love that your Thanksgiving spans several families and cuisines! :)

  10. It seems like everything is stressful right before the holidays. Hope your work situation lightens up for you.

Bummer about Blitzed! I'm curious about what she/he did. I'm also curious about how Thayne will redeem the wife. Sounds like a tough sell to me! Hope it works. I think I read The Outpost a while back and enjoyed it.

Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving Tanya! :)

    1. It really is. Makes it hard to find the time to slow down and enjoy.

I still haven't managed to write a review for Blitzed. Every time I think about it I get annoyed. LOL

Thayne did a great job presenting the wife as flawed yet sympathetic. I'll definitely pick up more from her.

  11. Sorry to hear work's been a bit much but hopefully you do get a little time off soon to take a day or two for you. Ugh, and that Queen song! I love that song, Queen is one of my favourite bands.

And oh no! I've not read Blitzed yet but I will totally be checking out your review because I need to know what went down!

Hope you have a good Thanksgiving.

    1. Another week or so and the worst of the work stuff will be behind me for another year. I'm so ready!

Queen was such an amazing band! Their music is still on heavy rotation on my phone.

I still haven't managed to review Blitzed but hopefully soon.

  12. I hope you are having a Happy Thanksgiving with some great food and good company. We are being very lazy. Since the weather is nice today we are grilling and are going to roast the turkey tomorrow when it is raining. It's rest up this weekend before the busyness which will follow next week! Have a wonderful weekend and some happy reading!

  13. Your totally random had me giggling. I love Christmas so much but people DO take it waaay too far with Christmas in early November, lol.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I can't wait to read the Blitzed review! I'm desperate to know what made you so ragey! :)

    1. Right? I love Christmas, too, but it seems to be everywhere earlier and earlier every year.

  14. I love Red Robbin but we don't have any near us. The last time I got to eat at one was when we visited Disneyland last year. You're so lucky you have one by you ♥.
