The Sunday Post #288 | May 15, 2022

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

My mom gave us a scare this week. She had a TIA (transient ischemic attack) Thursday afternoon and even though the symptoms (very similar to stroke symptoms) passed quickly, we still had her transported to the hospital. After a 24 hour stay, numerous tests, and many consultations, she was released to go home. Every single person we dealt with at the hospital was kind and caring and just amazing, but it was still a pretty stressful - and exhausting - few days.

Feel free to skip this part if you have no interest in the NHL playoffs. 😉 The Tampa Lightning won Game 4 last Sunday, lost Game 5 on Tuesday, and that meant they had to win Game 6 on Thursday. They ended up winning in overtime (I thought I was going to have a heart attack from the suspense LOL) and it was *so* exciting. As I write this it is Saturday afternoon and Game 7 is tonight. This will determine who moves on to round two of the playoffs... and who just goes home. It will be an exciting night at my house! 😀
Update 11:55 pm: They did it! The Lightning won Game 7 and will advance to Round Two of the Stanley Cup playoffs! <insert screaming and flailing>

If this story of a woman's 92-year-old grandpa asking her over for a sleepover doesn't bring a tear to your eye... well, you might not have a heart. ;)

The Husband and I are headed out for a little getaway in about a week and I can't wait. I'm in desperate need of some R&R. It's been way too long. Hopefully this coming week will fly by!

This week's 80's music fix is Mary's Prayer (1987) by Danny Wilson. While it wasn't a huge hit, I always loved it. Enjoy!

  1. That is scary stuff with your mom. I hope that she doen't have any more TIAs and am glad that she was released to go home so quickly. I am so glad that you team made it to the next round! I am not even sure how the Blues have been doing. They have made it almost impossible to watch games if you don't have cable in my area. My grandparents have all been gone for a few years but I do remember my grandmother in her 90s wanting to take care of me and my kids. I hope that you have a great week!

    1. Thanks Carole. It was a relief that my mom recovered so quickly! Your Blues are doing great! LOL They've advanced to the next round. Wouldn't it be something if the Lightning and the Blues faced off in the final series!

    1. Thanks Greg. I was reading up on Yzerman and in his time as the Lightning GM he drafted some of our strongest players, who are still going strong and are the backbone of the team. Guys like Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli, Mikhail Sergachev, Erik Cernak, and Patrick Maroon. They're all still with the team and are total superstars! So, thanks Yzerman! :)

  12. I hope your mom will be ok now. You're reading some good books. Enjoy your trip and stay safe. We did a day trip but were careful, wore masks, and had mostly outdoor activities and dining.

    1. Thanks Anne. I'm looking forward to the trip but it doesn't means safety is relaxed. We'll find a spot poolside that is away from others. And meals will most likely all be take-out. I can enjoy my R&R while still being smart about it. :)

  18. I'm glad your mom is doing better. That sounds incredibly scary and going to the hospital is such a nightmare these days (well, worse than it already is) I'm glad everyone was so nice.

Lordy the generations are really hating on each these days, aren't they?? lol

I just bought a mass market paperback of the third Psy-Changeling book to take on vacation with me. :)
