It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

This was my first full-time week back in the office since getting sick and it was a doozy. I was under a deadline all week and was waiting on input from others. And waiting... and waiting. It came down to the wire, not receiving what I needed until Friday afternoon, but I managed to get it done. I had to enlist the help of my boss (the CEO) to light a fire under a few people. It made for a stressful week but the work got done, my boss was pleased, so all was well.

My area (northeast Florida) seems to be skipping over spring and moving right to summer. And summer = my least favorite season. Yesterday it was 87 (30C). I am so not ready for this.

The Tampa Lightning destroyed the NY Islanders last night with a 5-0 win. They had to win that game in order to secure a spot in the playoffs, and did they ever! They have just five more games in the regular season and then the Stanley Cup playoffs will start in mid-April. I love playoff season! :)

This week's 80's music fix is Sign of the Times (1983) by The Belle Stars. This one is so catchy it always puts me in a good mood. :) Enjoy!

WHAT I READ

Kindle: Bonds of Justice by Nalini Singh - 4.25

Audio: Right Man, Right Time by Meghan Quinn - 3.5★

CURRENTLY READING

Kindle: What Was Meant to Be by Q.B. Tyler

Audio: Dear Aaron by Mariana Zapata

NEW ADDITIONS

These were such huge hits for me that I ordered physical copies so I can annotate them (I already own the first book in the series). The covers are so gorgeous. When I have time I'll sit down and transfer all my highlights and notes from the Kindle to paperbacks. It's ridiculous how happy it makes me to do that. LOL

Also this week, my order from Corinne Michaels' website arrived. I ordered a Firefly Resort t-shirt and tote bag (from her Willow Creek Valley series). Both are so cute! And I also ordered the most gorgeous vellum overlays from her Rose Canyon trilogy. I haven't come across anything like them before and I am obsessed with how they look when added to the physical copies of the books. (Btw, that is not me modeling the t-shirt... that pic is directly from Corinne's website. lol)

TOTALLY RANDOM

HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?

  1. Summer has traditionally been my least favorite season too, although I'm able to tolerate the heat better as I get older because I no longer get migraines from the heat. Here's to staying cool! Hope your next week at work is less stressful.

    1. Migraines from heat sounds terrible! So glad you no longer have to suffer through those. Hope you have a great week, Bonnie!

  2. It was 71 here in NJ. All back to normal today - high of 50 I think. It was below freezing the other morning too. I just kind of roll with it. I hate when my job depends on someone else. It's great that you got support from your leadership at least.

    1. Sam - I don't usually have to depend on input from others to get my job done so last week was something of a fluke. Thankfully, working for the CEO means that when I need backup I know they're going to respond to him! lol

  3. You are right, our weather is complete polar opposites right now haha I am glad that you ended up really enjoyed that Nalini Singh, those books are so fun to read. (Make sure you read the novellas and short stories too they are amazing!). I am curious about that Zapata, so I am curious what you think of that one. Hope you have a great week and the weather cools down a bit for you.

    1. Renee - I'm so glad I finally started the Singh series. And it's fun to know I have so many books ahead of me! Oh, and I read all the novellas and short as I go. Some of those are just as engrossing as the full-length novels. I'm loving Zapata's Dear Aaron. It's her typical super slow burn, but I eat that up. :)

  4. Ugh, people ALWAYS wait until the last minute! Summer is my least favorite season, too. We've had some warmer days, which are nice but I don't want it to get too hot too fast.

    1. Angela - Somehow it seems to get warmer earlier every year. I am not a fan.

  5. I am not a fan of summer either. I hate sweating when I'm not exercising or doing something that should be making me sweat. I deal with the people waiting till the last minute at school too. Mine is with me having to get students scheduled in online classes, but counselors or the people who are supposed to tell me what to schedule them in don't get me the info till I start getting reminder emails from district people, which makes me look bad. Ugh. Hope your week goes better!

    1. Lisa - Sounds like you have to deal with others waiting until the last minute all the time. That would drive me crazy! Thankfully last week was a rarity for me and this week is back to normal.

  6. Sounds like a stressful work week! I'm glad you're feeling better, though. I caught my daughter's cold so I'm working through that. I'm sad you didn't like Quinn's book more, but I'm hoping you adore Zapata's. And I love that song!

    1. Deanna - Ugh, sorry to hear about the cold. Hopefully it passes quickly. Yeah, I think I'm realizing it's time for me to break up with Meghan Quinn. I just don't think she's a good fit for me. Loving Dear Aaron, though!! :)

  7. I'm glad you were able to get through the first week back to work. I hate having to rely on other people in order to do my job. Glad it all worked out.

    1. Samantha - I'm so used to doing my own thing at the office and not needing much input from others. Needing that last week was a pain!

  8. I am not a summer person either... But, luckily, we're still very much in Spring! Just. It's slowly poking it's head out and pushing back the cold, miserable, winter. :)

The first week back is always the hardest! Glad you got through it and I hope this week is a better/easier one!

Dear Aaron... Aw. I loved him. Between that and your hockey talk I can't decide whether it's time to dive into a military romance or a hockey one!!!

  9. I love the playoffs. there was a time when the Red Wings were a lock, but those days are not now sadly. 87! Wow, it's 46 here now and was cold again last night. spring is taking its time getting here...

    Love that tote bag!

    1. Greg - The Red Wings showed some fire when they beat Toronto Sunday night! Wow, sounds like your area is still firmly in spring. Actually, 46 sounds like winter to me. LOL

    2. That's good to know. I didn't see that game. I think Yzerman will get them better, it'll take time though. I still miss the glory days. Hull, shanahan, Yzerman...

  11. yeah summer is my least favorite here. In MN, it never got really hot, spring / fall were very short, so most of the year was winter. So I got tired of winter although I loved skiing and skating and sledding and other winter activities. Here in NC summer can get really hot and it's hard to be out in the middle of the da, mostly July and August. Wishing you a better week at work.

    1. Anne - I can't stand the long hot summers here in FL but I don't think I'd fare any better with long winters in MN. I need a happy medium. Maybe I should move to Hawaii. LOL

  12. It couldn't be that you could ease back into work, right? It always happens that way. So happy to hear your team got into the playoffs which is just around the corner. I had weather like you're experiencing in Southern California all the time, so I feel your pain at the high temps so early in the year. We're just now getting spring here after a brutal (for Northern California) winter, but apparently this isn't normal. We'll see. That tote is sooo cute! Glad you enjoyed Bonds of Justice. I want to read Dear, Aaron at some point. Looking forward to your thoughts!

  13. I hate being on a deadline and needing information from others to get what you need to do done. We can't seem to decide if it spring or winter here. It will be 40 one day and 70+ the next. I have no idea how to dress. I hope that you have a great week!

    1. Carole - Waiting on others to be able to complete a project is so frustrating. I'm not a fan. Thankfully I don't often need input from others. Sounds like your weather is all over the place!

  14. Summer is also my least favorite season. But so far, my area isn't skipping right to it (which is rare, considering I live in southern California). The warmest day this week is supposed to be Sunday at 79 degrees .... which is hot enough for me lol

I LOVE the Hades Hangmen series! I haven't finished it yet and honestly, it's been so long I might need to do a reread. But I loved them.

    1. Molly - I am loving the Hades Hangmen series! I'd put it off for years because I'd read only one other book by Tillie Cole and disliked it so much. I was hesitant to pick up anything else by her. So glad I gave this series a try because I am hooked! :)
