Top Ten Tuesday: Series to Start or Continue

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme
This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic is a freebie so I'm going to focus on series. The ones I need to continue with and finish and the ones I want to start. First, the ones I've already started...

#1 - THE OFF-CAMPUS SERIES BY ELLE KENNEDY
I *finally read the first book, The Deal, last year (and loved it) so I really need to get it in gear and continue on with the series. Side note: Not sure I love these beefcake covers but I'm also not thrilled with the new covers. Which do you prefer?

#2 - THE BREATHING SERIES BY REBECCA DONOVAN
I've owned this series for ages and finally read the first book last year. It wasn't what I expected (for some reason I thought is was NA but it's definitely YA) but I still want to continue with the series.

#3 - THE ROSEMARY BEACH SERIES BY ABBI GLINES
I've read all but the final book in the series. This series is like crack and I can't help myself. But the final book centers on a character that has long been the series antagonist and I'm so not interested in her sob story of why she's a total witch. I really need to just read it so I can finish the series but seriously... Nan. Ugh!

#4 - IN THE COMPANY OF KILLERS SERIES BY J.A. REDMERSKI
Another series where I've only read the first book but I desperately want to gobble up the whole series!

#5 - THE BRONZE HORSEMAN TRILOGY BY PAULLINA SIMONS
This one plagues me. Because it's been 3 years since I read The Bronze Horseman and it instantly became my favorite book *ever.* And yet I haven't managed to continue with the series in all this time. That first book hurt my heart so much that I know I'm in for serious emotional trauma when I pick up the next book.

And now for the series that I want to start...

#6 - THE GRISHA TRILOGY BY LEIGH BARDUGO
Can someone tell me what in the world I am waiting for? I want to read this series. Everyone seems to love it. And yet I always push it aside for something else. Gah!

#7 - THE THOUGHTLESS SERIES BY S.C. STEPHENS
This is another series that has been sitting on my shelf for a long time. I'm a sucker for angsty new adult so I definitely want to read this series.

#8 - THE LUNAR CHRONICLES BY MARISSA MEYER
This isn't my typical kind of read (I very rarely reach for fantasy) but I hear nothing but raves for this series and I'm excited to give it a try.

#9 - ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS SERIES BY STEPHANIE PERKINS
I'm convinced everyone on the planet has read this series except me!

#10 - THE ARCANA CHRONICLES BY KRESLEY COLE
I have two friends who rave about this series so I'm excited to dive in.

Have you read any of these?
Which series should I make a priority?

  1. Anna and The French Kiss yes! The Deal, meh. Book one pretty good. Book two, meh. Not going any further. I heard the Bronze Horseman is fantastic. Isn't keeping up with a series, so hard?!

    1. One day I'm going to get you and Brandee to read The Bronze Horseman and my life will be complete. LOL I think I'm going to pick up the second Reason to Breathe book pretty soon.

  3. Hey girl, long time no see!

Are all of those Abbi Glines books ONE SERIES?? Because if so, I'm turning in the other direction and I'm running away fast as hell lol! More then 4 books in a series gives me this feeling of such dread, I just cannot deal lol. I actually have no idea why I haven't continued on reading the Off Campus Series. I really enjoyed The Deal, so hopefully this year I'll knock out the rest. I put aside Killing Sarai, (couldn't get into it at the moment) Anna & The French Kiss was far to cheesy for my liking lol, and I didn't really care for Shadow & Bone, so those are series I don't see myself finishing. I absolutely adore The Lunar Chronicles, but I still have yet to read Winter, and girl The Bronze Horseman scares the shit out of me. I don't think I'm ready to read that just yet lol.

    1. Tika! Where have you been, lady? I missed seeing you around.

Yep, aaaallll those Abbi Glines books are one series. All 13 of them. Yeah it's a lot but they're fairly short and I basically inhaled them. I swear, I'm going to continue with the Off Campus series this year. I loved The Deal. I have no doubt Anna and the French Kiss is a Velveeta cheese fest... but sometimes that hits the spot when I need a break from all the angst. :)

  4. I didn't love the rest of the Off-Campus series as much as I loved The Deal but still, the Stephanie Perkins books were good! You need to finish the Bronze Horseman series!!!

    1. I've heard that a lot, Kei - that The Deal was the best of the series - but I still want to read them. :) I know, I know, I push *everyone* to read The Bronze Horseman but I haven't finished the trilogy myself!

  5. I need to finish the Grisha and the Lunar Chronicles. Both were good to start but havevn't gotten back into them. So many books I need to start!

    1. I swear, I need to only allow myself once series at a time. LOL There's no telling how many I have going right now. Maybe I should devote 2017 to finishing series! :)

  6. I love, love, LOVE In the Company of Killers, though I've only read the first two books, but I truly want to continue on with the rest. The only reason I haven't yet is because everything was pretty fantastic at the end of the second book, and I'm scared that'll be ruined. The Lunar Chronicles is, hands down, one of my all time favorite series, even though I'm not really into Sci-Fi novels.

Hope you'll get around to reading all these books soon, Tanya! :)

    1. LOL Yep, no doubt if/when you pick up the third book all that good stuff will get blown to bits and break your heart. ;-) I realize I've only read Killing Sarai so far but I was so hating Victor's brother. Grrr! Maybe he redeems himself later but for now I'm wanting him to disappear. I'm even more excited now about the Lunar Chronicles since you said you're not into sci-fi. That's had me worried. They sound good and have great reviews but I've been like "eh, I don't know..." Glad you loved them so much!

    1. I'm think I will binge all three of the Anna and the French Kiss books this summer. I don't know why but for some reason they feel summery to me. :) Hope you get to Winter soon!

  9. I love so many of these series! my fave would have to be Kresley Cole followed closely by Anna and the French Kiss.

    1. Thanks Sharon! I'm so excited that you mentioned the Kresley Cole series. I don't hear many people talk about the Arcana Chronicles but my friend absolutely loves the series.

  10. That is exactly one of my resolutions this year. Finish off some of my started series or at least catch up. This month I've worked on Hearne's Iron Druid series. Some series I wait because I love to binge read and need to get a few books available before I hit them. Pretty much all of the above are on my TBR or already started. Bronze Horseman seems to intimidate me for some reason.

    1. That Iron Druid series is a long one! That's definitely an undertaking. I hear a lot of people mention that about The Bronze Horseman but don't let the size stop you. It goes so fast... and it's just more to love. :) Honestly, after finishing that first book I could have kept reading more.

  11. Anna and the French Kiss is the best book in that series in my opinion. I have Killing Sirai and have NOT started it. One day.

    1. As much as I love contemporaries I cannot believe I haven't read Anna and the French Kiss! I mean, that's my genre, so what am I waiting for? Sheesh. I have to say, Killing Sarai wasn't exactly what I expected. I thought it would be even grittier and darker than it was. But it was still so good and I'll definitely be continuing the series.

  13. GAH read Shadow and Bone! I need to read Killing Sarai too, I feel like I have owned the book for YEARS (I am sure I HAVE, actually). Also, I haven't finished The Lunar Chronicles OR started Anna. So I feel you on needing to read all the series ;) Hope you get to these soon!

    1. Yes! Shadow and Bone *will* happen soon(ish). I am so excited for that series! Killing Sarai was really good but for some reason I expected it to be even darker that it was. Still, I'm dying to see where the story goes.

  14. I loved the Lunar Chronicles! Definitely give it a shot if you ever have time and are in the mood for some fantasy! The Grisha Trilogy is on my tbr list as well!

  15. LOL "Beefcake covers". Books like that usually deter me from reading them. Are they good though? The Grisha trilogy is a must! I also need to start the Arcana series. Great list!

    1. Well, thankfully I had The Deal on my Kindle, not a physical book, so I wasn't flashing the cover everywhere. :) Although, it was so good that it would have been worth it. If you like New adult/contemporary at all, it is so worth reading. I'm so excited about starting the Grisha trilogy!

  16. The "beefcake" covers (LOL) all look the same to me! So those are a no for me. I do like the covers of The Thoughtless Series though. Thanks for sharing! ~Aleen

    1. I've always liked the Thoughtless series covers too, Aleen. I might not love the covers of the Off Campus series, but the first book in the series (The Deal) was just wonderful. Cringey cover and all. LOL

    1. I'm so excited to start the Grisha series! After waiting so long and hyping it up in my mind, I sure hope it lives up to my expectations. :) Abbi Glines books are just so readable. I always seem to fly through them.

  18. I have been meaning to read The Deal and The Bronze Horseman for SO long now! But much like you and the Grisha trilogy, I keep putting them off for something else! Just by looking at the Breathing series I thought it was new adult; the covers give off that angsty NA vibe that I live for! Great list Tanya! There are a couple here I'm adding to goodreads. :D

    1. If you like new adult, The Deal is an awesome one. Great characters, no ridiculous drama. And Garrett... oh my. :) And The Bronze Horseman... just have your tissues ready. *sobs just thinking about it*
Thank you! Good to know I'm not the only one who was confused by the Breathing series! When I started reading it I was like, wait, what's going on? Why are these people sixteen? LOL
