The Sunday Post #116

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

Things are moving along with the sale of of current house. We had the roof replaced last week and now we're waiting for the buyers to schedule the appraisal. The closing for the house we're buying is just a few weeks away so we really need to get on the ball with packing. Ack!

I am so over this heat. Summer is my least favorite season as it is (I'm a native Floridian who doesn't like the heat, avoids the sun like the plague and never goes to the beach - oh, the irony) and this summer is feeling especially brutal. I'm so ready for fall - or what passes for fall in Florida. Which means it's just slightly less hot. LOL What's the weather like where you are?

I am so not an animal person but how cute is this dog?! That face. I might have followed him for three blocks, too. :)

WHAT I FINISHED IN THE LAST WEEK:
Not a thing. I started reading Everything Under the Sun last week and I'm still reading it. It's a long one! 650+ pages!

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
Everything Under the Sun - Jessica Redmerski
When I started reading this one last week I'd check my percentage ever so often and feel like I wasn't getting anywhere. Why am I only at 5%? Why am I only at 11%? I finally checked GoodReads and realized that this book is 657 pages long. Whoa, baby! I feel like I've hit my groove with it, though, and now at 47% I'm so into it. This post-apocalyptic world Redmerski has created is brutal and frightening - and doesn't feel so very far-fetched. Not only do I love the main characters but I never know what's going to happen next and that adds an intensity that makes for a great reading experience.

Nothing. Not a single thing.
Not a physical book.
Not a Kindle book.
Not an audio book.
Who am I???

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  2. Good luck with all the house stuff and your big book. I really try to avoid books over 500 pages 😆 I hate summer and winter. What can I say, I am pretty moderate about everything.

    1. I actually love big, fat books... more to enjoy... but because this was an eARC I had no idea it was so long. Yikes. I'm totally a winter girl... but when I say that I mean a FLORIDA winter girl. LOL

  4. Eeeek the countdown is on! I hope the sales wrap up soon!

I would drag you to the midwest with me but we're suffering from mid 80s with like 95% humidity. Bring on fall!

Yeah, your weather doesn't sound all that great either - but thanks for the offer. LOL

  7. I hope the house sale will go through quickly, and that you get a really good price for your old house! Moving is not fun, but once you're installed in the new house, I'm sure you'll be happy!
It's a little cooler here these days, which is so nice. A couple of weeks ago, I felt like I was melting.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

    1. Thanks Lexxie - you’re right, moving is *not* fun but I keep telling myself that it will be so worth it by this time next month when we’re settled in the new house. :)

  8. Well the weather here is hot too! Unusually so ... The book you are erading has been on my radar for some time now so I can't wait to read your thoughts ;-) Oh and crossing my fingers for the new house. Happy Sunday Tanya!

    1. As of now I can definitely recommend Everything Under the Sun! I love these characters, I’m loving the journey, and Redmerski has made this scary world come to life. All I want to do is read! :)

  9. Wow things are moving fast for you on the move!

We're still waiting for an exchange date... I'm thinking it'll be October before we move. Considering this madness began late November last year, I'm so over it and still have the upheaval of the actual move to deal with! lol

    Good luck with the packing!

  11. Good luck with the selling/moving. I’m done with summer, too. Luckily, it’s been cooling down a little here. Have a great week!

    1. I wish we actually had “fall weather” but I’d settle for any temps in the 80’s at this point. LOL

  13. "Feeling like 100+" is why I could never live in Florida lol. Too hot for me, I'd melt. :) So I feel your pain in that sense. And I hope your moving/ packing all goes smoothly! Such a hectic time when all that comes to a head, but hopefully it's not too bad and then you can relax when it's all over!

What an awesome tweet! I wonder if the dog enjoys the people watching as much as the passersby probably enjoy seeing him/her... :)

    1. OMG, we are so opposite, Kristen. Give me the cold - I can always grab a sweater or a blanket. But the heat... ugh, can’t deal. I get so grouchy. LOL

  16. Hey, just because you're a Floridian doesn't mean you have to like the heat. I HATE Chicago's weather (freezing and crazy snow in the winter, super hot in the summer), and I've lived here all my life!

  17. We have been dealing with lots of ninety degree days and smoke here in Oregon. Luckily, we are supposed to get a shift at the end of the week and be in the seventies. Awesome that your house sale is moving along.

As for ARC's I've basically stopped requesting. I think I have 4 or 5 more already pending and then I'm taking a looong break from ARCs.
