Top Ten Tuesday: Books with a School Setting

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Favorite Books with a School Setting
I am being decidedly un-creative with this week's back to school theme, but work/packing/life/whatnot. You know how it is. :) So these are some of my favorite books where school/college is a prominent setting.

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda | Becky Albertalli
The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things* | Ann Aguirre
Eleanor & Park | Rainbow Rowell
One Small Thing* | Erin Watt
Wait For You* | Jennifer L. Armentrout
Trust* | Kylie Scott
Letters to the Lost | Brigid Kemmerer
Autoboyography* | Christina Lauren
Tell Me Three Things* | Julie Buxbaum
The Problem with Forever | Jennifer L. Armentrout

Titles with an asterisk (*) link to my review.
All others link to GoodReads.

Have you read any of these books?

  3. I love books that are set in schools and I've already read and enjoyed several on your list. I'll have to make a point to read the rest of them too! :)

    1. I feel the same about Simon and Autoboyography. Between reading and listening, there’s no telling how many times I’ve experienced Simon. I really need to do a reread of Autoboyography.

  5. I've seen Tell Me Three Things and Eleanor & Park on a few lists, and both are books I want to read. I love that cover of Tell Me three things, with the waffles lol. Not sure why but it works for me. :) Must be the food...

I love books about college/ school too and wish we'd get more set in college/ university but with YA themes- you know the danger/ secret societies/ assassins/ whatever lol.

Have a great rest of the week!

    1. I think Eleanor & Park was my first Rainbow Rowell and it made such an impact on me. Both the book and the audio version are excellent. And Tell Me Three Things was so good. Coincidentally, I listened to it on audio as well, and it was done *so* well.

  6. Definitely Simon Vs. and I own Autoboyography and Eleanor and Park, so I need to read those soon. I like books with school settings. Perks of Being a Wallflower follows a whole school year, and Looking for Alaska takes place at a boarding school.

    1. Perks of Being a Wallflower was a good one. Definitely memorable. I wasn’t a huge fan of Looking for Alaska but I know I’m in the minority there. :) You need to read Autoboyography!! :)

    1. LOL Yeah, if you haven’t read Letters to the Lost you definitely need to. I’m reading the follow up to it right now, More Than We Can Tell, and it’s breaking my heart!

  9. I read Eleanor & Park YEARS ago, and the only think I remember is her mother putting vanilla behind her ears. I have no idea why that has stuck with me! I'm currently reading Rainbow Rowell's Runaways comic -- sooo good. Autoboyography I loved -- I wasn't familiar with the LDS community, so it was nice to see that aspect of the story. I also recently finished The Problem With Forever and reviewed it on my blog! It was such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. :)

    1. So funny how that detail stuck with you all this time. :) I've heard good things about her Runaways comics. I only knew some very basics about LDS when I read Autoboyography and it was interesting to learn more. I thought Christina Lauren handled it really well - presented both the good and the not so good aspects of the Church without being judgmental or painting them in an all-negative light. I can't wait to read your thoughts about The Problem with Forever! I'm slowly making my way through my inbox - there are a lot of posts I missed over the last two weeks or so.

  10. I've only read Wait For You but several others are on my TBR. :)

Good luck with the continued packing! I FINALLY got to walk around my completed house yesterday! It's a new build and up until now we'd been going off plans and the show home but it was so awesome to finally see what will be OURS. :) Packing officially commences this weekend.
