WWW Wednesday #57 | August 7, 2019

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

Can anyone explain how we're already a week into August? Where has this year gone?! This morning I'm off to see my doctor for my annual physical. I'm ready for my clean bill of health... and maybe a lollipop if I'm good. LOL

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Because of Low (Sea Breeze #2) - Abbi Glines
In my Sunday Post a few days ago I was saying I needed something light and fluffy after reading a couple books back to back that dealt with grief and loss. As much as I enjoyed them, I was feeling the heaviness of them. Where to turn when you need brain candy? For me, it's Abbi Glines. Even when I'm rolling my eyes at what I'm reading, I'm inhaling every page like it's book crack. I can't help myself. So my plan is to binge the Sea Breeze series for a while... or until I've had my fill.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
Years ago I read Glines' Rosemary Beach series and loved it. Yes, it has its issues, but I was utter trash for that series and still am. But I never got around to reading the Sea Breeze series. I did read the first book, Breathe, in 2017 but never continued the series. Since it's been a couple years I decided to reread Breathe before binge-reading the rest of the series. My main take-away is that the dialogue was even worse than I remembered. Ha! OMG, it's so cringey and ridiculous. There was much eye-rolling on my part. But even so, I Just. Can't. Stop. And now that I've refreshed my memory I'm ready to totally immerse myself in Sea Breeze, Alabama. :)

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

The Sea Breeze binge will continue! Summer seems like the perfect time to fly through these fluffy books.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

    1. I hope to binge the whole series but it's 9 books long so we'll see how far I get. :)

  2. I'm annoyed at how quickly time is passing by! I'm still on vacation, darn it! :D
Sometimes those trashy terrible books are exactly what we need! I'm glad you're having fun with them. :)

LOL And you are so right. Sometimes trashy books just hit the spot. :)

  3. Ohh.. Because of Low's my favorite in the series (okay I'm just saying this because I love Marcus and Low) but this series was one of the reasons why I'm into NA. Most of Abbi's books have been there during my early days of discovering NA.

    1. Her books can be full of tropes (guys that act like possessive Neanderthals, girls that are beautiful but don't know it, every guy is in love with her) but sometimes I just need a dose of some Abbi Glines cheese. LOL

  5. It's been a while since I read anything from Glines. But she writes some pretty good ones. Right now I am reading Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep and loving it. Happy Wednesday!

  7. I've read a few of the books in this series but then let the series slide off my radar. Looks like I should rethink not finishing these books. Happy reading, Tanya!

    1. I've looked a Onwuachi's book before. I bet it's an interesting story. To be so young he's had some amazing success.

  10. I loved Because of Low! It's been several years since I read it, though, so who knows now. I'm sure I'd be rolling my eyes at Breathe for sure, because I thought is was cheesy way back when I read it the first time. Still, it was fun. Been a long time since I read Abbi Glines. Have fun with the series, Tanya! :)

    1. As cheesy as her books can be, I still find that I'm a sucker for Abbi Glines. LOL I love hearing that you loved Because of Low! I just started it last night and I'm already enjoying it more than Breathe.

  11. I didn't realize you didn't read the Sea Breeze books. I devoured these a few years back. Glines just knows how to give me the right amount of angst, drama, and steamy romance. I still need to read the spinoff, which features the children of the Rosemary Beach and Sea Breeze characters.

    1. I know, it's weird. As much as I LOVE the Rosemary Beach series you would think I would have inhaled the Sea Breeze series. But I just never got around to it. I think I'm going to have fun binge-reading it, though.

    1. Yay! Another Abbi Glines reader. :) I inhaled the Rosemary Beach series years ago so I have no idea why I never got around to the Sea Breeze series! Better late than never, I guess! :)

  14. I'm also trash for the Rosemary Beach series. It has SO MANY issues but I don't care. I happily dive into that world and love and loath it in bookworm nirvana.
Sea Breeze however I just can't do. I read the first few and quickly reached my "not even if YOU pay ME" point.
I hope they're different for you though and provide a suitable dose of light and fluffy.

    1. LOL Yes! It totally has issues but I love the books even as I know that. It's like, I don't even care, I just want to wallow in the drama-filled stories. I got so attached to the Rosemary Beach characters. And crying when tragic stuff happened. LOL

I'm about to finish the second Sea Breeze book and while I don't feel the same way about them as I do about Rosemary Beach, I'm still enjoying them. They're fast, fun reads and just what I want right now. :)

  15. I remember reading her Rosemary Beach series a few years ago, I loved the first book but fell out of love with the series with each book sadly. The Vincent Boys was pretty good and I loved her young adult series, the Existence trilogy. She's one of those authors where you could easily binge all of her books over an entire week, they're all pretty similar and there's no real surprises. You know there's drama, lots of sex but ultimately that happy ending.

    1. Aw, too bad the Rosemary Beach series didn't work for you. I was low-key obsessed with that series when I read it year ago. LOL I swear, I thought I could drive to Rosemary Beach (a real town here in Florida) and actually run into Rush and Blair and all the rest. Ha! The Vincent Boys/Brothers was good, too. And you're so right - Abbi writes the kind of books that are easy to binge read. They follow the same formula and are like reading a juicy, sexy soap opera. :)

  17. DANNNGG, I'm glad you were able to find something fluffy to read and take you away from life for a bit! I feel like I need to give more of her books a chance--I've read a couple (The Vincent Boys duology and something else I can't remember right now) but I feel like I grabbed her less than stellar ones and I've had my eye on Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach for a while now and I may copy cat you and binge them soon haha

    1. Despite its many issues (and I'm well aware they're there LOL) I am total trash for the Rosemary Beach series. LOL The jury is still out on the Sea Breeze series but they're still fun reads. :)
