Monday was the Mondayest of Mondays. 'Nuff said. Tuesday I actually went out for lunch just to get the heck out of the house and get some fresh air. Working from home has its perks, but it also means I tend to get tunnel vision and hole up in my home office for too long. We had a big storm system come through Wednesday and Thursday and it rained almost non-stop for two days. I went into the office on Thursday. Naturally the day I needed to go in was the day of torrential rain and wind. 🙄 I took off around 3:00 on Friday to help The Husband run an errand so it was nice to start the weekend just a tiny bit early.
We start returning to the office on April 4 - a week from tomorrow. Not necessarily full-time, but at least 2-3 days a week. I imagine I'll still do a hybrid schedule, working from home 1-2 days a week, but I'll definitely be shifting back to more time in the office. Pros and cons both ways, but after two years I guess it will be nice to have at least that bit of (semi) normalcy back.
I've had to pull back a bit from the national/world news lately as it's been wearing on me. It's tough to balance staying informed without becoming overwhelmed. So lately I've been actively seeking out good news and feel-good stories. I thought I'd share one from this week about a non-profit organization that sends "glam squads" into hospitals to pamper the patients and lift their spirits. Here's the link to the story if you'd rather read than watch.
Apparently this week was my blogoversary... so yay. LOL I swear, I always forget it and only remember when I see Nicole's mention of the weekly milestones. (Thank goodness for Nicole!) So hooray for seven years of blogging. Moving on... 😄
This week's 80's music fix is Chains of Love (1988). I seriously love Erasure and when I just want some feel-good music, they're one of my top go-to's. Enjoy!

I would love to do hybrid. I like being in the office, just not every day. I get so tired of the commute. It's smart to pull back a bit and protect your mental health. At least you realized you needed to do that. I heard a rumor that all the people will be returning to office, regardless of vaccination status, by June. Don't know how true it is, but I would say it's about time. I have been back for over six months.
ReplyDeleteTechnically we are only required to be in the office 2 days per week, but I feel in my role that I need to be in more often now. I've been doing 4 days in and one WFH. It hasn't been bad.
DeleteI hope the hybrid work makes you feel more back to normal as it does for some folks. Working from home does have its downside.
ReplyDelete7 years blogging, yay for you. That shows dedication. Have a good week reading ahead.
There are definitely pros and cons either way. It's a real adjustment returning to the office.
DeleteI watch a bit of the news every now and then but not too much as it is depressing, yes. I hope each time there will be better news about the situation.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was better news coming but it doesn't seem to be improving. :(
DeleteHappy Blogoversary! It seems the entire world is slowly trying to get back to normal and while I'm so tired of Covid and how it's changed life... I wonder if another variant will rise up and spread like a wildfire...
ReplyDeleteLol, that gif is me and it drives my partner insane! He gets in and just takes off but I gotta find a good song!
I agree, Carrie. Just as I was hearing about the BA.2 variant, now there's the XE variant that has popped up. It's so discouraging.
DeleteHappy 7th blogging anniversary! That's amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am still working from home, and I do enjoy it, but now that my husband is going back to the office more, it's a little weird to be home all day by myself. I don't see that changing for me, though; our office is fully open, but I don't really need to go in. Although, it is a little weird that I've been at this job for 2 years and there are still people I haven't met because I've been remote the whole time!
That's great that you still have the option to WFH. Although funny that after two years there are still people you haven't met! LOL
DeleteHappy blogoversary! And I always forget mine as well! I get the need to look for good news, I feel the same right now! I hope next week will be better weather wise!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one who forgets! :)
DeleteI'm so glad you posted that Yoda thingie because I'm always wondering the exact opposite of that:
ReplyDeleteWhy does it take everyone else so long to drive off?????
Now I have some answers. Our car is OLD so there's no plugging a phone in and I don't have anyone to text back and I only have a radio so there's no songs to be queued up or anything. So yah, I just jump in and drive off. lol
Now please explain to me why everyone else takes FOREVER to get out of their car and go into the house when they arrive back home. My neighbors drive me NUTS it takes them so long. I just turn off the car and hop out. lol
LOL I love how you've broken it all down, Jinger. :) But I don't know about the ones who stay in the car when they get home. Not me! Turn the car off and run into the house to get comfy! LOL
DeleteI LOVE Erasure! The weather sounds kind of miserable, but kind of ordinary for my part of the US. We've had a mixture of sun and rain recently. I've also been avoiding the news lately.
ReplyDeleteLove Erasure! And their Abba covers are just GOLD. :)
DeleteAll covid restrictions have lifted in the UK but my employer is maintaining hybrid working going forward. It's nice. With the new project I'm taking on, I'll probably be able to be home about 3 days a week which is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI hope the semi-return to office goes smoothly for you.
Sounds like the perfect compromise, Nicci. I like the blend of WFH and working in the office.
DeleteHappy Blogiversary! 7 years is amazing. Before COVID, I used to work a hybrid schedule. 3 days in the office and 2 days at home, and I loved that. It was a great balance for me. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat was a great set-up, Wendy. Best of both worlds!

ReplyDeleteWha ha ha!! Love that Yoda graphic. I always think people must think me crazy when getting into my car. Changing my glasses to sunglasses, make sure the audiobook is at the right place... And that's for my 8 minutes trip home from school!
I hope tomorrow will be a better Monday for you.
Elza Reads
Haha! I can relate, Elza! My commute isn't long either, but even so everything has to be just right. :)
DeleteHappy blogoversary! And I hear you on things getting back to normal. Like Carrie said above- I think everyone (or lots of people) just want to go back to how it was, but I worry too it might be too soon? Hopefully no. We were out yesterday and no masks ANYWHERE and that still surprised me, honestly, although I should be used to it because around here it's like there is no Covid :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for that link. I'm the same- with Ukraine and everything else I had to pull back too. It is a balancing act- staying informed without doomscrolling or eyes glazing over at how terrible everything is.
Yeah, I totally worry about the too much too soon thing. And with my sister just diagnosed with Covid, it kind of reinforces that.
DeleteI am very self-motivated and don't mind time alone so I could be WFH all the time. But then I had years of customer oriented work so I had my time with that type of work. We are getting about 2 days a week of rain and that's fine. I'm loving the spring temps although we are getting a couple freezing night this weekend.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 7 years! Also yay you are reading Slave to Sensation. I will today finish the final book Last Guard. Soooooo good.
Anne - Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Anne - I really enjoyed Slave to Sensation and I know I'll continue the series. I love the blend of world-building, plot, and romance!
DeleteErasure!! Such a unique band! I hope you love Slave to Sensation as much as I do. It is amazing!
ReplyDeleteSamantha - Totally enjoyed Slave to Sensation! I'm excited to continue the series.
Deleteoh I feel you on that. Its always good to take a break from all the news, especially with it being so depressing and can really affect your mental health these days. I forget my blogiversary as well so you aren't alone!! CONGRATS!! Such a milestone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Renee! Glad to know I'm not the only one who forgets it. LOL
DeleteCongrats on 7 years of blogging. I meant to do something last year and kept forgetting, so I might have to try and celebrate some way this August. LOL
ReplyDeleteLauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Thanks Lauren! Good luck remembering yours this summer. LOL
DeleteYes, I find I have to unplug from news here and there, too. It's just too much sometimes. Happy blogoversary! I usually remember a while after the date, as well, lol!
ReplyDeleteRachel - LOL Glad to know it's not just me. :)
DeleteLOL! I just saw Nicole's tweet. Had completely forgotten about my blogoversary too. Congrats on 7 years! I'm with you on having to unplug from the news a bit. I like to stay informed but it really does a number on my mental health, especially what's going on in Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteThere's only so much you can take it before it really drags you down. :(
DeleteHappy blogoversary! I always forget mine.
ReplyDeleteThose spring storms can be nasty. A friend sent me a warning from where I used to live (Ocala) and a tornado hit right down the street from my old house.
I'm watching and listening to very little news these days. I'm just binge watching everything to keep my brain occupied.
Karen @For What It's Worth
Yep, you really have to know when to say when. Whether binge watching TV or (for me) binge playing Cookie Jam. LOL
DeleteHappy 7 years of blogging! I only worked from home for a couple of weeks. At least I work in a small office. I am glad you were able to get out some. I am going to have to look at the Sarina Bowen story. I don't know that one! I hope that you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole! I think Sarina only released that Training Camp short via her email newsletter. But it might be available on her website, too. It was a cute one!
DeleteWishing you all the luck for working a little more in the office. And happy blogiversary! Isn't it crazy how fast time flies when you're having fun♥. And I've had The Wall of Winnipeg and Me sitting on my shelf for a few years now ACK, I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteJen @ Star-Crossed Book Blog
Jen - I loved The Wall of Winnipeg! Hopefully I'll get around to writing a review soon. And I can't wait to read more from Zapata.
DeleteYay for 7 years of blogging! I've been wanting to reread The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. I adored that book.
ReplyDeleteAlison - Thanks! And I loved The Wall of Winnipeg and Me. I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to read it!
