The Sunday Post #310 | November 6, 2022

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

Hope everyone remembered to "fall back" with the time change this weekend. Unpopular opinion, but I've always preferred this time to Daylight Savings Time. I like when it gets dark earlier.

Friday I woke up with a sore throat so I decided to work from home. No other symptoms but I didn't want to chance spreading anything around the office on the off-chance that it was something more. By Saturday I was fine, so who know what that was all about. A random one-day sore throat? *shrugs*

On Saturday The Husband and I got out third Covid vaccine boosters. The updated bivalent one that provides protection against the Omicron variant. Not that I expect to attend any large gatherings this year, but I feel better getting it done before the holidays as I will be seeing some extended family. Next up, I need to get my first shingles vaccination. The fun never ends. 😏

The Tampa Bay Lightning rolled out the new jerseys this week and I laughed so hard at the player's reactions. Let's say the reactions were rather lukewarm. LOL

This week's 80's music fix Buffalo Stance (1988) by Neneh Cherry. Sad fact: I can probably still recite all the lyrics. LOL

  1. Thanks for the reminder. I have to go this week and get that COVID booster. We don't change time here in Arizona, and I love that about our state. Have a great week, Tanya

    1. Wendy - Kudos to Arizona for that. Now if the rest of the country would get on board. lol

Oh my gosh that song- quintessential 80's.

  3. I got my booster this week as well.
Although I really don’t mind it getting darker so early, I really don’t like what it does to our kids this first week.. blegh.. it has been way to early all week.
Have a great week and happy reading.

    1. Maureen - True, I can see how it would be tough when you have kids.

  4. You're right. That is an unpopular opinion, at least with me. It will be dark when I got off work now, and I hate it. I need to see some sunshine! At least with working from home, it's a little better. I see daylight during the day. I always felt like I completely missed it when I was in an office.

    1. Mark - I get plenty of sunshine already here in Florida so I guess that's why I don't mind it getting dark earlier for a while. :)

  5. I am glad that the sore throat was just a one day thing Tanya! Also third booster? We had our second here! Have a great week!

    1. Sophie - Yep, third booster. I had my first booster shot in November 2021, a second in June of this year, and now that the updated boosters are available I got that as well. I'm so thankful for the vaccines!

  6. I need to get my updated vax before the holidays roll around too. It will be my fourth I think. I'm with you on this time change. I prefer when it gets dark earlier instead of being light out until 10pm lol

  7. haha thats definitely an unpopular opinion. I actually don't like it that much darker in the winter. I do feel like the sun is out too much in the summertime though so I feel like we should switch it. Do this time change in the summer and then the other one in winter so we have a bit more light in the winter since winter already has shorter sun days anyway.

I was curious on what you thought of the Tillie Cole though. I am thrilled to see your rating! I love Tillie Cole and glad that this one was such a win as I know you struggled with her thousand boy kisses one.

I had a pretty good week for the most part! I hope you are enjoying the early days of November and get some good books read this week!

    1. Renee - I get my fill of sun in Florida (actually more than my fill LOL) so I welcome the shorter days. :)

You have a good memory! You're right, I really disliked a Thousand Boy Kisses. For me, it came across so saccharine and schmaltzy and was just blatantly playing on emotions. It still makes me ragey. Haha! But It Ain't Me, Babe... big fan!! I can't wait to continue the series!

  8. I get sort throats from my post nasal drip. That's when I start my nose spray again before it becomes a sinus infection. Maybe you were just exposed to something that irritated your throat. Something you ate? I am putting off the shingles vax till spring. I heard that one is a bit tough. Yes! Buffalo Stance. That's a good one.

    1. Sam - Maybe that was it? Or allergies? I'm not sure. I've heard the same about the shingles vax. I remember when my husband got them and he definitely had some side effects.

  9. Buffalo Stance! Loved that one. I'm glad you're feeling better. I got my booster a couple of weeks ago. I am not a fan of this time of year, but I won't complain about the extra hour today. I hope you're enjoying ISWU.

  10. I like this time change as well. The spring forward one-not a fan! Glad you are feeling better!

    1. Samantha - Yeah, losing an hour is never fun. And it staying light until 9 PM? No thanks.

  11. I like this time change, too, because we gain an hour! And it won't be dark when I drive to work now. I need to get my booster. My husband already got his and I did my flu shot, but he needs that. I did have the shingles vaccine, both doses and what fun that was. *not* Hope you fair better than I did.

    1. Rachel - Yes, I've heard the shingles series is rough. My husband still remembers his. Ouch!

  12. HA! Your random things about music lyrics actually happened to me at work last week. I was giving instructions to a new employee and popped in the chorus of It's All About the Bass! Since I'm 70 and he's in his 30s, I got a pretty shocked expression from him! :) And I've never heard your 80's song. Hope you have a great week and love the books you're reading.

  13. I'm glad that you felt better after just a day. Also that you got the Covid booster. Studies show that one is working well (just a lot of people haven't gotten it yet). I prefer to fall back so I get an extra hour but no I don't like it getting dark earlier or light earlier in the morning either.

    1. Thanks Anne. No idea why I had the sore but I was just glad it didn't linger. I know I'm in the tiny minority that likes it getting dark early. :)

  15. We changed our clocks on 30 October (?) ish! I love getting the extra hour in bed so this change is my favourite. It always takes my mum a while to adjust to the time changes, but I seem to be ok with them.

Glad that you are better from your sore throat and that it was just a random day thing!

    Have a great week ahead!

  17. The only thing I don't like about the time change is that my son ends up having to catch the school bus in the dark since school starts so early here. Oh goodness, I'm going to be singing Buffalo Stance for the rest of the day, haha!

    1. Susanne - Oh yeah, I can see where that would be a problem. Not having kids, I never think of stuff like that. :)

  20. I can't say I prefer it being darker earlier, but I did enjoy getting an extra hour of sleep! Saturday marked my second family wedding in as many weeks, so this week feels like I'm just playing catch up with getting things done around the house. Hopefully things will be back to normal for me soon!

  27. I don't think I've ever met anyone who loves standard time more than DST. I hate changing my clocks, but I'd love to spring forward once and then just leave it. I'm glad you enjoy the darkness earlier. :D

  28. I'm not a fan of this time change at all *covers face*. With having kids in sports, and living in cold weather, it getting darker earlier is just miserable for being outside. And the days we don't have sports, our time to play outside is so limited because it gets dark early and then they have all this energy they can't burn ack. My sanity needs them to have lots of outside play LOL!
