The Sunday Post #342 | July 9, 2023

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th (if you celebrate it). As usual, the fireworks in my area started early and went late. It was a good day, though. We went to the pool at the amenities center early and there were maybe three other people there. Left before it got hot and crowded. Had burgers on the grill for dinner. And ended up staying up late because there was no way to sleep through the fireworks.

In the wee hours of Wednesday night/Thursday morning The Husband woke me up with such severe lower back pain that we had to go the the ER. His back had been bothering him for a few days but the pain intensified beyond belief. The first two pain meds he was given  didn't even make a dent in the pain and they ended up giving him the equivalent of morphine (Dilaudid) and finally, finally he had some relief. I don't know which is worse: being in pain, or watching someone you love be in pain. Such a helpless feeling.

I didn't go to the office on Thursday since we were both exhausted from hours at the ER, and I didn't want to leave him home alone. It was a quiet day with both of us resting and taking it easy.

Apparently Thursday was also the world's hottest day on record... ever. Coincidentally, it was also the day the AC at work was finally fixed! Before you get too excited, when I got to the office on Friday it was obvious that all was not well. So the AC company came back yet again and now supposedly it really is fixed. At this point I have no idea what I'll walk into on Monday. LOL

I watched the Wham! documentary on Netflix this week and it reminded me how much I love their music. Seriously, I love every song. So this week's throwback song is Everything She Wants (1984) by Wham!. Enjoy!

  3. Poor Husband! I hope they can find a better way to relieve some of his pain. Backs are so tricky. Your trials and tribulations with the a/c at work are like mine with the train. Fingers crossed the second fix worked.

  7. Your poor husband! It's always scary to have to deal with something like that in the middle of the night. I hope he's feeling better now. I think it's harder watching someone you love be in pain, I would rather be the one that's hurting.

  8. I hope your husband is much better and has some way to avoid this in the future. My daughter has a lot of pain. If she gets one thing "solved" then she is able to feel a new pain elsewhere. Wishing you a cool and air conditioned week!

  10. Oh man that sucks about your husband! Do they know what caused his pain? Kidney stone maybe? Scary that Thursday was the hottest day on record! Global warming and all. I wish the people in charge would get a clue and get serious about emissions. All over the world. Hope the AC finally works!

Ha! That meme is too funny. Used to listen to Whitesnake back in the day.

    1. Rachel - That's where my mind went, but they ruled out kidney stones with a CT scan, so it was likely a severe muscle strain/sprain. He's doing so much better now.

And yes, the AC works today. Thank goodness!!
