The Sunday Post #143 (on a Monday... again)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

This past weekend wasn't non-stop packed full, but there was still enough going on that I stayed busy. Hence, The Sunday Post on a Monday. Plus, I simply chose to do what I wanted to do and let blogging take a backseat. *gasp!* Imagine that. LOL Both days were a great blend of being out and about and down time.

Yesterday The Husband and I  (along with my mom) went to a showing of Star Wars with the score performed by the symphony orchestra. We've seen a couple of the Harry Potter movies this way and it's such a great experience. As with the HP movies, there were photo ops and characters in full gear - and plenty of attendees came in costume which is always fun to see.

Otherwise it was business as usual. I only worked three days last week, which seemed like a good idea at the time. But I thought those three days were going to beat me down and kill me. LOL I practically crawled home each evening and went to bed early every night. Here's hoping for an easier week! :)

Since I didn't post yesterday, nor did I visit any blogs, I have some catching up to do. I hope to do some blog hopping this afternoon/evening. *fingers crossed*

WWW Wednesday #41

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Loved this latest entry into The Others series. This whole genre is so far from my norm (hello, contemporary romance), but there's something about it that sucks me right in and I am totally invested.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Josh & Hazel's Guide to Not Dating - Christina Lauren
I'm only about 60 pages into this one but already it is so much fun. I love the humor and I can't wait to see what happens when Hazel and Josh start setting each other up.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:

Asa (Marked Men #6) - Jay Crownover
I'll probably finish this one today and my re-listen of the Marked Men series (for the 3rd time? the 4th?) will be complete. Maybe now I will finally continue on with the Saints of Denver series.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

I still think about this one, months later, and can actually see myself re-reading it. For that reason I decided I needed a physical copy. Obviously.

KINDLE BOOKS:

Not a one.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. Oh my goodness, Josh & Hazel is so much fun. I’m loving it. :)
I’m not some huge Star Wars geek but I like the movie and it was fun to see it on a big screen with the orchestra. And all the people dressed up were pretty cool.

    1. So true! I have no problem putting “real life” ahead of blogging. :)

  3. Hazel cracked me the heck up! Have fun!

I'm currently reading Wild Country and I was hoping there'd would be a romance between Jana and Virgil, not Jana and Tobias. Am I alone with that hope? I'm wondering if maybe there's a shift in later installments, because hey, Jana was picturing Virgil in the shower... What do you think, Tanya?

    1. I’m enjoying it so much, Rachel! Sometimes the stereotypical “wacky/zany” characters just leave me cold (which is why I was a little worried about this one, but Hazel is just a breath of fresh air and there’s a sweetness to her that I love.

Oh my gosh, I kinda was too, Rachel! I kept wondering if that would happen but it became apparent that it was going to be Tobias. (I like him so no problem there.) But I could see it happening... and I’d be all for it! And what about Jessie and Tolya? Whoa, baby!

    2. GAH!! I just reread your comment and see that you are CURRENTLY READING Wild Country. I thought you’d already finished it. And now I’m worried that my comment gave stuff away. Eeeek!!! :(

    3. No worries, Tanya! I'm about 52% in, but I did skim a little ahead to find out which character Jana ends up with. I hate reading and rooting for one character just to have them end up with another. I think it could go either way in the coming books, though. I guess we'll see. Toyla and Jesse?! I was thinking/hoping for something with them, so yes!!

Glad you're enjoying Hazel's wackiness! It felt right for the story, not over the top, thankfully. I can't wait to hear your final thoughts. :)

    4. Oh thank goodness, Rachel! I was so worried that I might have really spoiled something. I can’t believe you skimmed ahead... too funny. =D Jana (the Wolverine LOL) and Tobias seems like a safe choice but I really would go for something between her and Virgil!

    5. Lol, I'm a bad girl like that sometimes, with the skimming ahead. I could really go for something with Virgil and Jana, too! I hope to be done by tomorrow night. :)

  4. That's neat you got to see the Star Wars score performed by the symphony. Last year on May 4th, our symphony performed Jurassic Park along with screening the movie. We couldn't understand why they weren't doing Star Wars but it was fun anyway. :)
I'm itching to pick up The Kiss Quotient myself. Oh, and I once again love your "random"! LOL Enjoy your reads this week, Tanya! And I hope your work week is less stressful. :)

    1. Now wouldn’t May the 4th have been perfect for a Star Wars showing? Um, the whole “May the 4th be with you” thing? Hello? LOL Guess they didn’t get the memo. :)

The Kiss Quotient was such a great read, Brandie! I hope you will get to it soon. I was so hesitant when I picked it up last year because of all they hype, but it really did live up to it.

Hope you’re having a wonderful week, my friend!

  5. The Kiss Quotient was a good book. Today I got Four Dead Queens and Priory of the Orange Tree. Priory is so long I decided that I'll tackle 4DQ first.

    1. It had been so many years since I’d seen Ep. 4 start to finish. I’d forgotten how whiny Luke was at first. LOL

  8. I only read the first couple in the Saints of Denver series... I need to catch up on that one. Built - the first one - was so good though.

I've never been to anything like the Star Wars orchestra performances. We get a lot of Doctor Who ones and you also see them for GoT but I've just never signed up. I think I need more things like that on my 'to-do' list.

    1. I have to admit, Sayer started to drive me crazy. The way she ran hot and cold with Zeb for so long had me ready to throttle her. LOL But I seriously loved Zeb and little Hyde. Made my heart melt!

  9. I just got The Kiss Quotient from Audible. I can't wait to listen to it! I am sooo happy to hear you loved it. I feel the same about The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein. I need to get the physical copy of the book. =)
