The Sunday Post #153

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • Back at home after a wonderful week of R&R. Lazy days of poolside reading, poolside lunching... and maybe even a little poolside dozing. (All while under shade and wearing SPF 100. I'm like a vampire, I do not do the sun.)
  • We celebrated our 20th anniversary with dinner at a favorite restaurant. Great food, great service, and we marveled at how the years (27 in total) have passed so fast.
THIS IS WHAT 20 YEARS OF HAPPY LOOKS LIKE
  • I unexpectedly got to meet up with a friend while away. Brittany and I met through blogging several years ago and it just so happened we were in Orlando at the same time (pretty amazing considering she had traveled from Canada!). We met up for dinner one night and had a fantastic time.
  • And now its back to reality. :) I'm meeting my mom and sisters for our monthly breakfast this morning, doing some laundry this afternoon, and getting ready to return to the office tomorrow. *huge woe-is-me sigh* But I'll leave you with a few pics from the past week.

It wasn't a totally silent week in my absence. My review for The Bride Test was already written so I was able to pre-schedule it for posting. That's the extent of me blogging ahead. :)

Review: The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

*crickets*

Despite being on vacation and having all the time in the world, I didn't finish a thing. Don't ask me how that happened. *shrugs*

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Totally loving this one! I adore Marlee and the audio version is just so much fun.

Hard As It Gets (Hard Ink #1) - Laura Kaye
This is my first by Laura Kaye and I'm liking-it-not-loving-it. I'm about 100 pages in so we'll see how it goes.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

I always hit up the Barnes & Noble near our resort when we're in Orlando. Why is it that it seems somehow better than the two Barnes & Noble's that I have right here at home? :) Anyway, I picked up Fumbled, because I definitely need more from Alexa Martin, and Serious Moonlight because there's no way I won't love it.

KINDLE BOOKS:

This was available through Amazon Prime's First Reads (I think that's what it's called?) and it sounded like one I'll enjoy.

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. TRUTH! It is so hard coming back from a long vacation. I only do a long stretch once a year, but it is brutal. It looks like you had a wonderful time. You and the hubs are too adorbs. Glad you are enjoying Intercepted. I liked both Martin's books a lot.

  5. Your vacation looked so relaxing, and it must have been if you didn't finish a book. 20 years looks beautiful on you two!

Matt and I are celebrating 5 years in two weeks and I'm confused where time has gone.

    1. To be a native Floridian you’d think I’d be a sun worshipper but nothing could be further from the truth. I avoid it like the plague. LOL

I’m about 150 pages into the Laura Kaye book. It’s okay but not fantastic... I’ll have to wait and decide if I’ll be continuing the series.

  8. I'm glad you had a lovely vacation and thanks for sharing the great photos. It is wild when you run into people you know. I love the Hard Ink series by Laura Kaye but I listened on audio from the library. Good luck with the back to work!

I need to request Intercepted again. It came in during the whole moving thing and I didn't have time - but now I can read them both!

I haven't gotten to Annabeth's new series yet but I love her books.

  18. Oh, that random is so true! Love your vacation pics and happy 27th, Tanya! Looks like you stayed at an awesome resort. Yay for getting to meet up with a fellow blogger. Isn't that fun? There's no one out there that understands our book addiction like a fellow blogger!

I'm debating about picking up Jay Crownover's newest. It's on Netgalley and a little hard to resist but I'm trying to cut back!

    1. Thanks Rachel! I love that resort. We’ve been going there for 10-12 years now and I consider it my happy place. :) And getting to meet up with Brittany was a total bonus. I have the prequel novella for Crownover’s new series but I haven’t requested Justified yet. I’m going to see what I think of Unbroken first.

  19. Your pictures have made me so jealous. I want r&r by the pool. Especially as today it's raining and cold and we have no central heating while the builders are here. Can't wait to see your thought on Intercepted and Fumbled. I loved Intercepted so I fully expect everyone else to as well.

    1. Ick. Cold and rainy sounds like the perfect time to run away to a warm, sunny location. I absolutely loved Intercepted! I finished the audio on the way to the office yesterday and I’m still thinking about it. I wanted to do the audio for Fumbled but the wait time is 10 weeks - ha! So I think I’ll be going the physical book route. :)
