The Sunday Post #301 | September 4, 2022

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news:  a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books,
and share what's coming up on your blog in the week ahead.

Happy September! It's my birthday month which means I'm already being inundated by offers of free stuff to spend money. I just love all the companies that send "special birthday discounts" which in reality just means that I'm going to spend at least $50 in order to save a whopping 10% (or something similar). So far DSW, Torrid, Ulta, and Texas de Brazil all want me to drop some cash. Thanks for the birthday wishes, corporate America. 🤣

The week started with some car trouble. I thought my Jeep Cherokee had been a little slow to start for a few days and sure enough, after work on Monday it wouldn't start. Ugh. Thankfully, it finally did start and we took it to an AutoZone to have the battery tested and then went on to the dealership. They replaced the battery, did a bunch of testing to make sure everything else was okay, and I got the Jeep back on Wednesday. Bonus: it was all covered by warranty. 👊👏

Remember my brother-in-law that had a bad fall last 4th of July (2021), broke his hip, and had to have a hip replacement? Well, he was back in the hospital this week. He'd been violently ill for day and they diagnosed him with colitis. He was in the hospital for five days and finally went home on Friday. What a bad week he had. We really need to get through an entire year without him in the hospital. Ha.

I am so thankful for the three day weekend. No special plans, no need to fill up the weekend... but having an extra day off will feel positively decadent. Are you off Monday for Labor Day, as well?

This week's feel-good story: I love how this little guy wants to grow up and work at Chick-fil-A. :) The whole story can be found here, but this video gives the highlights. Good for them for making him an honorary team member for the day. His "my pleasure" at the end is priceless. 😊

I know I've shared this one before but it's one of my favorite songs (we're talking Top 10 of all time) and it's been in my head all day. So we're doing it again. This time I'm sharing a live version. The song came out in 1982 but here's Alison Moyet performing it at the Burberry fashion show in 2015. Enjoy.

September in Florida absolutely does not mean it's fall, but I'm going to carry on as if it is.

HOW WAS YOUR WEEK?
I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT IT!

  1. Let's celebrate you! Back when, I was in all those loyalty programs (when they were cards), and I actually got free stuff my birthday month. Those were the days. Colitis is terrible. I hope your BIL is doing ok. As far as car trouble, whew! Battery is not too bad, and even better that it was covered. I am trying to decide if those pictures for the Vipers covers are the same with one photoshopped or different.

    1. Sam - I'd be all for free stuff! But now it seems more geared to a discount if you spend money. Meh. Ah, I didn't notice that about the Vipers covers but you're probably right.

  12. I'm glad your car troubles were too serious. My car had some trouble last month and it got "fixed," but we're still waiting on a part. Sigh. Sorry to hear about your BIL as well. My husband has colitis so I know all the horribleness of the disease. I hope he can find a medicine and routine that eases his symptoms.

  17. Happy birthday, Tanya! I love just doing nothing on a holiday weekend, but my daughter and SIL wanted us to come out to spend time with them and watch the kids while they went to a party. Fortunately we traveled when there wasn't any extra traffic so that was good! We came home early and now have tomorrow to relax and prepare for the next week.

Oh wow, your BIL has had a bad run! Hopefully he'll get better soon!
