The Sunday Post #43

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

It's been a fairly uneventful week... which is always nice. I continue to be robbed of any semblance of winter. Temps were into the 70's all this past week. *sigh* It's like winter just decided to skip Florida completely and I feel cheated. I can just hear all of you up North saying something like, "Oh, my heart just breaks for you" as you shovel snow and pay a huge heating bill. LOL

I'm not a huge sports fan but I do enjoy the excitement of the Superbowl. I'll be watching tonight and cheering for the Atlanta Falcons. Of course I'll probably be reading or visiting blogs at the same time, let's be real. 😁 Will you be watching the Superbowl tonight?

Tuesday, January 31: Top Ten Tuesday was all about the visuals so I shared some of my favorite book covers. I don't think I've ever bought a book based on cover alone... but a pretty cover doesn't hurt!

Thursday, February 2: In Best in Books is back! I skipped it in December since I already had several posts focusing on monthly/yearly favorites. I have fun choosing the categories and books so I was excited to pick it back up again for January.

Friday, February 3: My read (uh, listen) of the Marked Men series by Jay Crownover continues. On Friday I shared quick reviews of book three (Rome) and four (Nash)

I mentioned last week that I was feeling a little slumpy and had set aside two books in a row. So unlike me. I decided to pick up a sure thing and revisit a favorite series. You all know I love me some Daemon Black (if not, are you new here?! 😉) so I'm reading Oblivion. Oblivion contains the first three books in the Lux series from Daemon's POV. (Note: The Kindle version has Obsidian, Onyx and Opal. The paperback contains only Obsidian.) I'm loving reliving the events from those first three books through Daemon's eyes and in his voice. It's just what I needed so hopefully after I finish it - no more reading slump!

Finished:
Nash (AUDIO) - Jay Crownover
The Queen (The Selection #0.4) - Kiera Cass

Current
Oblivion - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Rowdy (AUDIO) - Jay Crownover

PHYSICAL BOOKS:
My pre-order of Long Way Home arrived so it can join the previous two books and look all gorgeous on my bookshelf. And I ordered The Winner's Curse books from Book Depository so I could get the original (pretty) covers. Have you seen the updated covers? They make me cringe.

Long Way Home - Katie McGarry
The Winner's Curse - Marie Rutkoski
The Winner's Crime - Marie Rutkoski
The Winner's Kiss - Marie Rutkoski

KINDLE BOOKS:
Infini - Krista & Becca Ritchie
Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda - Becky Albertalli
Heartless - Winter Renshaw

ARCS FOR REVIEW:
Your Tempting Love - Layla Hagen
Forbidden Kisses - Annie Rains

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
You know I want to hear about it! :)

  1. I'm not huge on the Super Bowl although I'll probably watch- and rooting on Atlanta! I used to be more into football than I am. And sorry to hear winter is skipping out down there- ours has been mild actually so I can't complain too much (although I still do).

LOL about that Super Bowl random.

    1. Well, so much for our rooting for Atlanta, Greg. *sigh* That was quite a turn-around between the first and second half.

  2. Uneventful can be good :) I wish Florida would send some warm vibes up here to me. We will watch the Superbowl with lots of snacks and bad food and rooting hard against the Patriots. SO i guess that means we are rooting for the Falcons lol. Your new books look great!! Have a great week!!

    1. Our cheering for the Falcons didn't seem to do much good, Grace. Those Patriots... grrr! =/ On the plus side, I sure enjoyed our Superbowl/snack food. LOL

  3. The super bowl is one here and we're rooting for the falcons. I'm mostly just watching the commercials though. haha

I want one big snow! We tend to have weird weather in the winter, but very little snow this year.

    1. Well, the Falcons sure lost it in the second half, didn't they? *sigh*
I was so ready for some epic commercials but I thought most were just kind of... meh. The ones that were my favorites seemed to be the car commercials. Especially the Buick one. :)

    1. I was a little disappointed in the commercials this year. :( Most were nothing special. But I did really like the Buick one with Cam Newton. LOL

  5. As a non American I've never watched the Super Bowl, I've once spent five minute on YT, trying to figure out the rules then gave up. I rarely watch sports! I miss snow. I wish we'd get a proper winter... happy reading :)

    1. I'm not much of a sports fan myself - and I *definitely* don't know all the rules of football. But I know enough to make watching fun. :) I've only seen snow a dozen times or less but even some cold weather would be welcome about now!

  6. The 70's are my favorite tempature. Not to hot, not to cold, but just right. I just bought Infini and I can't wait to start reading. :)

    1. I guess it's a matter of always wanting what you don't have. I live in FL so I want cold weather. :) I need to get Amour Amour read *soon* so I can dive into Infini.

  7. LOL! I think without the superbowl, many wouldn't know any Roman numerals. :) I was also rooting for the Falcons. Too bad they didn't win. I didn't watch it but did keep tabs on the score.

Looks like some great books. I have a cold kicking my hiney so I'm in a slump. At lest you got out of your slump! YaY!

    1. LOL Too right, Melissa! Any time I see Roman numerals I have to stop and think about it for the longest time. It definitely doesn't come naturally to me. :)
Ugh, sorry to hear about the cold. Hope that passes quickly!

  8. I love the Marked Men series but I haven't listened to them! I will have to check out your reviews. I sometimes like listening to books for rereads.
    Great book haul!
Super Bowl meme!! That is so funny because I was just trying to teach my HS students on Friday how to read roman numerals (again!). We go through it every year and every year they say "Why don't they just use normal numerals?!"

    1. Same here, Samantha - I enjoy doing rereads on audio. :)
Too funny about trying to teach the Roman numerals. I have to admit, I'm not good at it. I always have to stop and really think about it. LOL

  9. I watched the first half with Berk but then we had to leave to pick up James & Jax from the airport so we got updates on the drive home as James watched on his phone. LOL I hope Daemon pulls you out of your little reading slump. If anyone can, it's him! ;) And I am laughing over your winter...but only because it's better than crying over the fact that my winter here in Colorado has been unseasonably warm as well. Sure, it's 40 but still... :) I hope you're having a great week, Tanya!!

    1. Obviously our ideas of winter are waaay different, Brandee. :) 40 is bitterly cold to me. LOL And I'd taken it in a heartbeat - esp. since it's 82 today. Ugh! Daemon took care of me just fine. *ahem* I think I've pulled out of the reading slump. I'm reading a cont. romance for review, beta reading another cont. romance, and when in the car I'm listening to a YA contemporary. Sooo, I'm back in the game! :)

  11. The only reason I watched the Super Bowl was because of my hubby. But I always like the commercials and the half time show was pretty good. :) ~Aleen
