WWW Wednesday #34 | December 12, 2018

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

I think it's safe to say that this year has well and truly caught up with me. I've reached burn-out stage and it shows in my reading (or lack thereof) as well. I've read virtually nothing in the past week and haven't had much motivation to change that. I'm trying to just go with flow instead of forcing myself to read, read, read. I have started a couple re-reads which seem to be easier and more enjoyable than diving into something new right now. Anyone else feeling end-of-year burn-out?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Maybe Someday - Colleen Hoover
I had planned to start this re-read last week but it never happened. However, I plucked my physical copy from my bookshelves last night and read about 30 pages last night. I'm already enjoying my second visit with these characters that I love.

Rule (Marked Men #1) - Jay Crownover

I don't know what it is about this series, but the audio versions just do it for me. I've listened to the complete series twice - once in 2016 and again in 2017 - and here I am starting it again. I guess this is now a yearly tradition. :)

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
The Third Wife - Lisa Jewell
The only reading that took place in the last week was me finishing up the audio of The Third Wife. While it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, I still enjoyed it. This was less mystery and more domestic drama. I thought the narration was excellent and I found myself caught up in all the relationships and the intricacies of the blended families.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

I'm hesitant to even hazard a guess, considering how very unbookish I've been feeling lately, but hopefully both Maybe Now and The One You Fight For will happen soon.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

    1. Loved my reread of Maybe Someday! So much that I followed it up with a reread of Maybe Not. :)

  2. I loved The Marked Men series! The only book out of the 6 that was a bit blah for me was Nash's but that was mostly because I found his other half annoying... I adored him. My favourite book was probably Jet or Rowdy. :)

    1. Oh my gosh, Nicci, Nash's book is my favorite! LOL And Rowdy's is my least Favorite! Could we be any more opposite? Heehee! Actually, I love Rowdy but I couldn't stand his love interest in that one (Salem?). She bugged me to no end and it really tainted how I felt about the whole book. Nash is my sweetheart. ♥

  4. Bunny!!!! I had read all the Marked books. Now I wish I had listened to them. Obviously, you should read the next Maybe book, since you are re-reading book one right now, but I loved the Loren book.

    1. Poor tired bunny. :) The Marked Men series seems to have become something of an annual tradition for me. LOL I just love listening to this series again and again. It doesn't get old. I think the Loren book is on deck, right after I finish Maybe Now!

  5. I have end of year burn but for completely different reasons. Or maybe not as I recall your dad passed away in summer and mine died this Monday. Till Friday it's been a really weird moment with my focus scattered. I can't focus on a book for a long time ... not much reading done either here.

    1. 2018 hasn't been very kind to either of us, Sophie. I hope 2019 treats us both much gentler.

  6. I'm right there with you on end of year burnout. I'm counting down the days until I'm on vacation again. I look forward to your review of the Lisa Jewell book. I'm getting ready to start my first book from her but I think mine is more of a thriller.

    1. Hopefully I'll get a review of the Lisa Jewell audio book posted soon. Just today my sister was trying to tell me that there were TWO authors named Lisa Jewell - one who wrote chick lit/romance and one who wrote mystery/thrillers. It took me forever to convince her that it's one and the same person and that she's just changed genres over the years. LOL

  7. Maybe Someday is my favorite Hoover book, so I'm excited to read Maybe Now. I just might have to do a reread first though. I don't tend to reread, but this is one book I've had the urge to. I should see if I can get the audiobook.

    1. I'm not a re-reader either, Nicole, but strangely enough Maybe Someday had been on my mind for a while. Then when Maybe Now popped up that made the decision for me. :) I'm totally enjoying Maybe Now so far!

  8. The end of the year burn-out has been SO HIGH this month, it's been annoying. I ended up getting really behind on what I wanted to do this year because of it, actually. This year has honestly felt like the longest one ever! Perpetually exhausted. I still need to get around to reading Maybe Someday. It's been on my shelves for ages and I just never get around to it for one reason or another. Sigh, I stink!

    1. Glad (or sorry?) to hear it isn't just me experiencing the burn out. Oh my goodness, this year has done a number on me. I'm so ready for some time off and a fresh start. :) Hope you get some down time, too! I certainly recommend Maybe Someday. It's one of my favorites by Colleen Hoover.

  9. SAME. I haven't read in almost 2 weeks. I'm just going with it for now instead of forcing myself. I might have to kick myself in gear if I'm still like this in January though lol

    1. I agree... I never try to force it if I'm not feeling it. Never works anyway. LOL My rereads helped, though, and I loved revisiting favorite characters. Did my heart good. :)

  10. I haven't finished a book in forever! Hah! I've been listening to audiobooks while I pack, but a lot of them have been re-reads. However, I JUST got RULE from my library (the audio) and cannot wait to start it! <3

    1. Totally understandable because you have an awful lot going on! Audiobooks sound perfect for packing! :) And I'm so excited that you got Rule! I really didn't think I would ever go for the Marked Men series but I'm now on my third re-listen and I'm so attached to the characters. When I listened to Rule the first time I was like, "what is with this guy?" LOL Now I have an appreciation for him, what he's gone through with his family, and how loyal he is to his friends.

  11. I am so sorry that you are not feeling very bookish! I keep trying but I am so TIRED that it really is not going great hah. I am reading All Is Fair currently, about WWI, but I am just struggling too. At least the rereads are going well for you! Hope you can get back in the swing of things soon- or at least keep on enjoying the rereading!

    1. Guess it's not just me, huh? :( I found the rereads totally worked for me. It was great to revisit favorite characters and it left me wanting more. So now I'm jumping into Maybe Now just as I was hoping to. Hope things pick up for you, too, friend!
