The Sunday Post #158

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • We're finally getting some much needed rain. My lawn says thank you. It's still hot so now it's just hot and wet.
  • The new mattress was delivered yesterday. We settled on a hybrid (innerspring + memory foam). The new bed (headboard/frame) gets delivered tomorrow and now I'm shopping around for new bedding. It's a total domino effect. One purchase leads to another. #FirstWorldProblems
  • Game 6 in the Stanley Cup play-offs is tonight and the Blues are up 3-2. They could take it tonight or if Boston wins (booo!) it'll go to Game 7. Go Blues! I'd love to see them win the Cup tonight!
  • My heart is hurting for a blogger friend. She's facing some serious health challenges so if you have some positive thoughts to share with a member of our book blogging community, I know it would be appreciated.♥♥♥

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

I finished Hook Shot Friday night and it was another hit from Kennedy Ryan. I am so glad to have found a new (to me) author that just blows me away with her emotional story-telling! I fell hard for Kenan in this one. What an amazing, stand-up kind of guy. He impressed me so much and helped make for a powerful story.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I haven't carved out a whole lot of time for reading this week so even though I stared Red, White & Royal Blue on Tuesday, I'm only about 140 pages in. But I am loving it so much! McQuiston's gift for dialogue is amazing and the banter between Alex and Henry - well, Alex and everyone, actually - is giving me life. :)

I'm starting the audio version of I Wish You All the Best today and really looking forward to it.

  1. It's been raining here a ton all week! We've had a nice dry weekend though. And enjoy the game! there are few things more exciting than a Stanley Cup playoff elimination game. :)

    Have a great week!

    1. Well, the game was exciting... for Boston fans. LOL It was terrible. A 5-1 loss. So now it all comes down to game 7 on Wednesday night. I wonder if the Blues are aware that they’re playing havoc with my usual 9 PM bedtime? LOL

  2. We've had nothing but rain this week... The garden is grateful but my guttering cracked so I've had a mini flood outside my front room window that's freaking me out so I'd like some dry now while I get that fixed, lol.

I feel for you on the bed buying cascade. We had that last year when we moved and bought a new one that was bigger than our old one so we had no chance or reusing bedding, it all had to be new. :/ First world problems indeed. But enjoy it! The novelty of the new bed/bedding wears off so quickly.

    1. Ah, the joys of home ownership - flooded yards and broken gutters. LOL Yep, same problem here with not being able to repurpose the bedding. The only other bed in the house is in the guest room and it’s full size not queen so we can’t even relegate the old bedding there. *sigh*

  3. A new mattress and bedding sound exciting! I've been thinking about updating my bedding too, but don't even know where to start.
I think our blogging friend is a mutual friend. I'm so sad for her, but I will be keeping all my positive thoughts for her. She is one of the loveliest people in this community.
I have Superfan too and I'm looking forward to it.
I hope you have a good week ahead!

    1. All the choices (for bedding) is so overwhelming. I had favorites saved at about 3 different sites and kept going back and forth trying to choose. Gah! I finally settled on a set from Macy’s so hopefully I’ll love it when I see it in person.

Yes, I think she is a mutual friend (and I think you are in the Twitter private conversation that started last night). She is so kind and so genuine and the news just broke my heart.

Fingers crossed that we both love Superfan! I’m not too worried since Sarina Bowen has never let me down. :)

  5. Lots of rain here too and it's hot and humid. Summer has arrived! And there's nothing like a new bed. Feels great. And of course you have to buy new stuff for it. LOL

    1. Oh yeah, summer is definitely here, I don’t care what the calendar says. Ugh.

I’ll be happy when the new bedding arrives! Then of course comes painting and new furniture... it never ends! LOL

  7. I need a new mattress, but nowadays it seems like such a daunting purchase. So many choices! My heart hurts for our book bloggy friend. I wish I could do something more than offer virtual hugs and wishes.

The Book Bromance Club sounds like a fun read.

    1. Oh my goodness, it was an intimidating process to do the mattress shopping. So. Many. Options. And the prices really run the gamut.

Speaking of our blog friend, are you in the private Twitter conversation that started last night? If not, let me know and I’ll add you.

  8. I was furious, when Wegmans AND Target shuffled the set up. I am still trying to figure Target out. So frustrating. That Twitter announcement had me crying. Cancer sucks. My intro to Kennedy Ryan was the Bennett series, and all her books have been solid for me. Glad you enjoyed the Hoops books.

    1. Isn’t that just insanely annoying?! Trying to find stuff becomes an exercise in total frustration. Yeah, I’ve been feeling pretty heartsick ever since seeing the announcement. I can’t even imagine what she must be feeling. :( I’m definitely excited to read more from Ryan!

  11. I'm really looking forward to Red, White and Royal Blue!! I'm happy you're enjoying it so far. Soon you'll be able to read it on your new mattress! ;) I hate shopping for things. I feel like you, and one thing just leads to another, so it never actually ends. Good luck!

    1. I’m so loving RW&RB. I just want to sit and read but real life is calling and they frown upon that at the office. LOL The new mattress was delivered Saturday and it’s quite fabulous. :) Now the bed (headboard/frame) gets delivered today so the husband will set that up around the base tonight and it will look like it’s supposed to. And I ordered bedding from Macy’s so that should be here soon. Whew! I feel like I’m hemorrhaging money. LOL
